The final Around The Horn opened with one last 'Goodfellas' tribute

Friday was an emotional day for fans of ESPN's iconic talk show Around the Horn, which broadcast its final episode after more than 23 years on the air. For longtime viewers, however, the show began with a perfect callback. Tony Reali, who has hosted the show since 2004, is a major fan of the movie "Goodfellas" and has previously acted out parodies from the film. To begin the final episode, Reali reenacted a prior bit in which he performed a studio tour in the vein of the iconic club scene from "Goodfellas." AROUND THE HORN: Tony Reali's show evolved beyond 'Sports Shouting' and into ESPN's pantheon To begin the final episode, Reali referenced the iconic Henry Hill line in the opening scene, "As far back as I can remember, I always wanted to be a gangster." In Reali's version, he said, "As far back as I can remember, I always wanted to be a sportscaster." As far back as I can remember I always wanted to be a sportscaster... — Around the Horn (@AroundtheHorn) May 23, 2025 For reference, here's the scene from "Goodfellas." (Warning: The following clip contains NSFW language and content) As mentioned above, it was not only an homage to the movie but also to one of the most iconic moments in the history of "Around the Horn," in which Reali performed a studio tour themed to the movie during the early days of the show's run. While the more than two-decade run of "Around the Horn" is coming to an end, there was plenty of fan service to be found in the show's final episode. College Sports Wire includes two Aggie RBs as top SEC running backs

College Sports Wire includes two Aggie RBs as top SEC running backs Texas A&M's 2025 running back room is headlined by the return of senior back Le'Veon Moss, while sophomore Rueben Owens and senior Amari Daniels provide adequate depth and separate skillsets that also add to the passing game next season. However, Moss and Owens are coming off of season-ending injuries, meaning the first two games against UTSA and Utah State are crucial to finding a rhythm before facing Notre Dame on the road. Right now, Owens is slated to earn the No. 2 spot, and essentially share the job with Daniels, but from a national perspective, Daniels looks like the primary backup until Owens proves otherwise. On Monday, College Sports Wire's Lauren Beasley ranked her top 10 SEC running backs, and to much surprise, Beasley placed Amari Daniels at No. 5 and Le'Veon Moss at No. 7, because, like I said, those outside of the Texas A&M media sphere possess different opinions about the Aggie backfield from a talent perspective. Here is Beasley's take on Amari Daniels: "Daniels quietly slipped into the Aggies' backfield in 2024, carrying 139 times for 661 yards and eight touchdowns. He averaged 4.8 carries with a long run of 71 yards and seven catches. He also forced 19 missed tackles on the season. Now, with Le'Veon Moss recovering, Daniels returns and is well-suited for the job. He knows how to burst up the middle and works hard on pass protection. His key strengths include a nose for the hole, durability, and receiving skills out of the backfield. The concerns are his 4.8 average yards per carry. He is solid but not explosive." Here is Beasley's take on Le'Veon Moss: "Moss had an outstanding season in 2024, amassing 785 yards and 10 touchdowns before a knee injury cut his 2024 season short. With Moss healthy, the Aggies could have one of the SEC's most dynamic combos with Moss, Daniels, and Rueben Owens. Moss's running style is long and is tailored for smash-mouth football. He is well-balanced in contact and has the ability to break long runs if he is fully recovered by the start of the season." Moss's powerful running style combined with Daniel's burst and acceleration give way to Rueben Owens having a pathway towards improvement, so it's fair to say that while most, including myself, would have ranked Moss higher, Beasley's nailed here descriptions and potential for this group. Oklahoma's John Mateer among College Sports Wire's top quarterbacks for 2025

The Oklahoma Sooners have a big season ahead of them. They're in need of a big bounce-back season after going 6-7 in 2024 and Brent Venables and Jim Nagy believe they've brought in the right pieces to course-correct the program. The addition of John Mateer has reinvigorated the hope and optimism surrounding the Oklahoma Sooners. Not everything that went wrong last year was on the quarterback position, but the lack of experience kept the Sooners offense from overcoming the bevy of injuries OU dealt with at wide receiver and along the offensive line. Advertisement Mateer's experience and reported leadership gives the Sooners a chance to see a significant jump in their win total in 2025. He's in his third year in Ben Arbuckle's system and in his first season as a starter in 2024 (he sat behind the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, Cam Ward), Mateer put up nearly 4,000 yards of total offense and led the nation with 44 total touchdowns. He'll need to make a jump in his play to have a similar impact for the Sooners, but by all accounts, he's looked really good this spring against the Oklahoma Sooners' defense. Heading into 2025, he's considered one of the best quarterbacks in college football. Patrick Conn of College Sports Wire ranked his top 12 quarterbacks for 2025 and Mateer came in at No. 6. John Mateer is the first quarterback on the list who is playing with a new team in 2025. He followed offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle, who left Washington State to join the Oklahoma Sooners staff. You might not be too familiar with Mateer, given that he played in the Pac-12 last season, but he is a name to remember moving forward. He has plenty of excellent game tape to catch up on. - Conn, College Sports Wire The connection and chemistry Mateer has with Arbuckle have a chance to be as impactful as the one Dillon Gabriel shared with Jeff Lebby, and the two put together a pair of productive seasons in Norman. But it isn't all on Mateer's shoulders either. The offensive line should be much improved, and the wide receiver depth is better as well. If Oklahoma can have better luck on the injury front, they'll be significantly improved and Mateer will have a chance to put up some big numbers in 2025. March Madness 2025: Auburn's fate projected by College Sports Wire

Auburn basketball has been handed the toughest bracket in the 2025 NCAA Tournament. How well will they navigate the rough waters? College Sports Wire's Tyler Nettuno recently shared his prediction for how the south region will play out in this year's tournament. He expects the No. 1 overall seed Auburn Tigers to slide past the first weekend before exiting ahead of the Elite Eight. Nettuno predicts that Auburn will win its first round game over the First Four winner between Alabama State and St. Francis before beating No. 9 seed Creighton in the second round. However, Nettuno projects an upset in the Sweet 16 with former point guard Tre Donaldson and the No. 5 seed Michigan Wolverines upsetting the Tigers to set up an Elite Eight date with archrival No. 2 seed Michigan State, with Tom Izzo's Spartans representing the bracket in the Final Four. Auburn was not handed a favor with its March Madness draw. USA TODAY Sports columnist Blake Toppmeyer recently called Auburn's side of the bracket the toughest of the tournament with potential matchups lurking with Big Ten regular-season champion Michigan State and Big Ten tournament winner Michigan. Auburn could meet a red-hot Louisville squad in its backyard and rematch with Iowa State before getting to the Final Four. According to the latest data from ESPN's Basketball Power Index, Auburn has the third-highest chance to make the Final Four among No. 1 seeds at 47.6%. Auburn has a 32% chance to make the NCAA Tournament championship game and a 16% chance to cut down the nets. Duke has the best outlook with a 25.3% chance of winning the tournament title, followed by Houston with a 20% chance. Auburn's run to its first NCAA Tournament championship begins Thursday at 1:40 p.m. CT against the winner of Alabama State vs. St. Francis, a First Four game that will be played on Tuesday.
