College Sports Wire includes two Aggie RBs as top SEC running backs
Texas A&M's 2025 running back room is headlined by the return of senior back Le'Veon Moss, while sophomore Rueben Owens and senior Amari Daniels provide adequate depth and separate skillsets that also add to the passing game next season.
However, Moss and Owens are coming off of season-ending injuries, meaning the first two games against UTSA and Utah State are crucial to finding a rhythm before facing Notre Dame on the road. Right now, Owens is slated to earn the No. 2 spot, and essentially share the job with Daniels, but from a national perspective, Daniels looks like the primary backup until Owens proves otherwise.
On Monday, College Sports Wire's Lauren Beasley ranked her top 10 SEC running backs, and to much surprise, Beasley placed Amari Daniels at No. 5 and Le'Veon Moss at No. 7, because, like I said, those outside of the Texas A&M media sphere possess different opinions about the Aggie backfield from a talent perspective.
Here is Beasley's take on Amari Daniels:
"Daniels quietly slipped into the Aggies' backfield in 2024, carrying 139 times for 661 yards and eight touchdowns. He averaged 4.8 carries with a long run of 71 yards and seven catches. He also forced 19 missed tackles on the season. Now, with Le'Veon Moss recovering, Daniels returns and is well-suited for the job. He knows how to burst up the middle and works hard on pass protection. His key strengths include a nose for the hole, durability, and receiving skills out of the backfield. The concerns are his 4.8 average yards per carry. He is solid but not explosive."
Here is Beasley's take on Le'Veon Moss:
"Moss had an outstanding season in 2024, amassing 785 yards and 10 touchdowns before a knee injury cut his 2024 season short. With Moss healthy, the Aggies could have one of the SEC's most dynamic combos with Moss, Daniels, and Rueben Owens. Moss's running style is long and is tailored for smash-mouth football. He is well-balanced in contact and has the ability to break long runs if he is fully recovered by the start of the season."
Moss's powerful running style combined with Daniel's burst and acceleration give way to Rueben Owens having a pathway towards improvement, so it's fair to say that while most, including myself, would have ranked Moss higher, Beasley's nailed here descriptions and potential for this group.

Key contract detail suggests Adam Nightingale will be with MSU hockey for long haul
Key contract detail suggests Adam Nightingale will be with MSU hockey for long haul Michigan State hockey head coach Adam Nightingale officially signed a new deal with the program on Friday, and there's a new detail in the contract that should help keep in East Lansing, Mich. for the long haul. Nightingale has experienced a ton of success in a short amount of time at Michigan State, winning the Big Ten regular season and conference tournament titles in back-to-back seasons, which resulted in No. 1 seeds in each of the last two NCAA Tournaments as well. That kind of success has resulted in some (including myself) worrying he may be a target for a NHL coaching position in the near future. Good news for Michigan State, though, is that his new contract extension (which is through 2030) has a greatly increased buyout should someone want to poach him away. Connor Earegood of The Detroit News posted on social media platform X on Friday that Nightingale's buyout over the next three years has more than doubled to $2 million. The buyout from there will drop but still a notable amount throughout most of his contract. You can see the exact numbers in Earegood's post below: This is the type of move from both Michigan State and Nightingale that shows he plans to be with the Spartans hockey program for a longtime. Which is really good news for Spartans everywhere. Michigan State will enter next season as a preseason top five team, with some already pegging them as the No. 1 team in way-too-early rankings. So, it's safe to say things are great for Michigan State hockey right now, and the news out of Friday only furthered those positive vibes for the Spartans. Big Ben makes bold prediction on Aaron Rodgers' future: 'I think this might be it for him'
Big Ben makes bold prediction on Aaron Rodgers' future: 'I think this might be it for him' Aaron Rodgers hasn't even unpacked in Pittsburgh — and Ben Roethlisberger is already predicting how it all ends. On his podcast, Footbahlin with Ben Roethlisberger, the legendary Steelers QB shared why he believes 2025 may be Rodgers' last season in the NFL: 'I don't think he's got much more after this year,' Roethlisberger said. 'I think this might be it for him — personally. I have no reason — you could ask, 'Well how do you know?' I don't know. I'm just guessing in terms of you coming off an Achilles [tear]. Coming off my elbow [injury], my first year back I felt like I was 100. I wasn't even — you don't realize you're not 100 until the next year when you are 100.' Roethlisberger stated that Rodgers will feel healthier this season, but it doesn't necessarily mean he'll play better — before ultimately concluding his speculation on Rodgers' future: '…He's going to feel better, but it doesn't mean that he's going to have two or three years left. I think this might be his last go.' If this truly is his last season — and this may be wishful thinking — here's to hoping Rodgers can lead the Steelers to their first playoff win since the 2016 season. BOOM! Ohio State receives commitment from 2028 running back from Florida
BOOM! Ohio State receives commitment from 2028 running back from Florida While Ohio State is still putting the finishing touches on the 2026 class and has the framework in place for the 2027 class, the Buckeyes just got their first commitment for the 2028 cycle with the addition of Florida running back Elijah Newman-Hill. Out of Tampa, Florida, it's still too early for Hill to be ranked by the major recruiting services but you can bet if Ohio State offered and accepted a commitment from a kid that doesn't graduate until 2028, the coaching staff must be impressed with what it sees. And for Hill, the feeling must be mutual if he was ready to get on board shortly after attending one of the camps at Ohio State. Though Hill plays on both sides of the ball in high school, there's no doubt he's being looked at as a running back for OSU. This past season, he carried the ball 80 times for 829 yards for Blake High School. It's pretty early on in the 2028 recruiting class, and more than ever, in today's age, it'll still take a lot to keep him in the recruiting class. ontact/Follow us @BuckeyesWire on X (formerly Twitter) and like our page on Facebook to follow ongoing coverage of Ohio State news, notes and opinion.
