Brilliant photos as closed pub near Stroud reopens for pop-up event
THE doors of a closed pub in the area reopened once again for a pop-up event over the weekend. Dozens of visitors had the chance to enjoy a drink at the Rose and Crown in Nympsfield on Saturday afternoon, May 17. The site's car park was also turned into an extra-large beer garden for the event. The historic pub - which closed in March 2023 - has been at the heart of the Nympsfield since the mid-1800s. Organisers from Nympsfield Community Pub Group received permission from the current owner to reopen for the fundraising event. The group has been trying to raise money to buy the pub and run it as a community venue, with a café and village shop. The group has been shortlisted for this year's Best Community Project or Group Award at the Stroud News & Journal Community Awards. All photos of Saturday's event were taken by Simon Pizzey.
