
Monmouth Rotary Club to distribute nearly £5,700 to groups
Monmouth Rotary Club's support for the local community is set to be celebrated at a special event.
The club will hold a Community Awards and networking evening at Shire Hall.
During the event, the club will give out grants totalling nearly £5,700.
The money will go to eight different local groups.
These are Mayhem Theatre Group, 1st Wyesham Scouts, Monmouth Foodbank, The Two Rivers Meadow Project, Chippenham Park Fun Run, The Friends of The River Wye, and Monmouth Comprehensive School.
Each group will explain how the money will help them over the next year.
The Rotary Club hopes the evening will encourage new people to join and help with their continued support of St David's Hospice, Velindre Breast Cancer Research, and other charities.
The event will take place on Friday, June 20.

650 Santa Claus run across Gloucester in record breaking event
More than 650 Santas ran through a city's streets in a record-breaking year for an annual fun was filled with red and white on Saturday as beard-clad athletes took on a 1km or 5km route in aid of local groups and than £5,000 pounds was raised - the largest amount since the event was launched by the Rotary Club of Gloucester in Cass helped organise the event and said: "It's absolutely fantastic." "The community of Gloucester really comes together for this... it's great to just see it grow and grow and grow," Mr Cass added."I'm running out of space in Kings Square." The run was a fitting end to 2025 for Karen Reid, Janna Hinchliff and Annderley Hill, all from Gloucester, who had recently completed the Couch to 5k running Reid said: "It's great to see so many Santas, a snowman, and elves all dressed up in the square today."She said the friends felt it was "only right" to take part in the run. As well as individuals, running groups from across Gloucestershire came out to show off their best festive fancy Stacey is part of the Cheltenham Running Club which had nine members signed up and said it was "just exhilarating"."The weather was really kind to us and it was just jam-packed with people smiling and laughing and having fun", she added. The event was started to raise money for the Rotary Club of Gloucester Community Awards, which funds smaller local groups and year recipients included local football clubs, urban gardening projects, and a bridge Cass said: "The whole reason for the awards was that you don't need to be a charity, it can just be a project."He said anyone who had a project that might qualify should Gloucester Santa Fun Run is set to return to the city in December 2025.
