Vanessa met Kobe Bryant in the year 1999 when she was 17 years old, and six months later, the duo got engaged, followed by their marriage in the year 2001. The couple had their fair share of issues, which even led to an attempt to get separated in the year 2011, but soon it was resolved, and the duo stayed strong until Kobe's last breath.

Together, they raised four daughters - Natalia, Gianna, Bianca, and Capri. However, Vanessa faced a terrible loss in her life when she lost Kobe and her 13-year-old daughter Gianna in a tragic helicopter crash in January 2020.
While the grief of losing both husband and daughter was too much for her to handle, Vanessa emerged from it and continued to maintain the legacy of her husband's initiative. Kobe established the Mamba Sports Foundation in 2016, and it was soon renamed the Mamba and Mambacita Sports Foundation in order to highlight the initiative's focus on both male and female upcoming athletes.
Vanessa even launched the Mambacita clothing line in order to honor her daughter's memory.
She not only was a steadfast companion for Kobe throughout his career but also showed her dedication towards the family by suing Los Angeles County for invasion of privacy and negligence after the photos of the tragic incident went viral. Vanessa won the lawsuit and received an amount of $16 million post the trial. All of the money went into the development of the Mamba and Mambacita Sports Foundation.
The foundation has achieved remarkably in uplifting the passion of the upcoming athletes, both male and female. Vanessa also announced the foundation's partnership with 6 different educational institutions to take the initiative ahead in 2023.
