Britain's King Charles III hosted and consoled the Indian cricket team at his Clarence House residence on Tuesday, following their narrow 22-run defeat against England in the third Test match at Lord's cricket ground on Monday.
The defeat came in dramatic fashion during the final session of the last day as India, chasing a target of 193 runs, fell short when their last batsman
Mohammed Siraj
was dismissed by Shoaib Bashir's delivery that spun back onto the stumps.

The King, who had watched the crucial final moments on television, expressed his sympathy to Indian captain Shubman Gill about the manner of Siraj's dismissal.
"Really annoying just to touch the bails," the King remarked about Mohammed Siraj's dismissal.
Gill shared details of their conversation with the monarch, saying: "He did tell us that the way our last batsman got out was quite unfortunate - the ball rolling on the stumps, and he was just asking us how did we feel after that."
The Indian captain further added: "And we told him it was an unfortunate match for us, but it could have gone either way and hopefully we'll have better luck in both the next games."

Ludhiana: 5 SCD Government College alumni, including skipper Palpreet Singh, in Indian basketball squad
Palpreet Singh, a 32-year-old alumnus of SCD Government College, Ludhiana, is captaining the Indian basketball team at the ongoing FIBA Asia Cup 2025 in Saudi Arabia. The tournament, showcasing Asia's basketball talent, commenced on August 5 and will conclude on August 17. Palpreet Singh (HT Photo) Palpreet's journey began at the age of 13 when he joined the Ludhiana Basketball Academy (LBA) at Guru Nanak Stadium. Though he briefly quit just after three months, he returned to the court in 2010. Later, he completed his Bachelor of Arts from SCD College in 2015. Teja Singh Dhaliwal, general secretary of Punjab Basketball Association, recalled Palpreet's early days. 'He hails from Doda village in Muktsar Sahib and was trained under coach S Subramaniam at LBA. He is the fourth LBA player to captain the national team — a proud achievement for Punjab basketball.' Palpreet made headlines in 2016 when he was drafted in the fourth round of the NBA D-League tryouts by the Long Island Nets, becoming only the second Indian after Satnam Singh Bhamra — also an LBA alumnus — to reach that milestone. Currently employed with Indian Railways, he has represented India internationally for over 15 years, featuring in three Asia Cups, an Asian Games, and tournaments in Japan, the USA, and Canada. Speaking from Saudi Arabia ahead of India's upcoming clash against the host nation on Saturday, Palpreet said, 'It has been an incredible journey. I have given everything to this game.' Remarkably, four of Palpreet's teammates — Sahaij Pratap Singh Sekhon, Kanwar Gurbaz Singh, Arvinder Singh Kahlon, and Princepal Singh Bajwa — are also alumni of SCD College and LBA. Their college coach, Amarpreet Kaur, expressed pride in their achievements: 'They trained relentlessly, often beyond college hours. Their dedication has taken them to the international stage.' India has played two matches so far — a narrow 91-84 loss to Jordan and a 100-69 defeat to China. Sahaij Sekhon was India's top scorer against China, putting up 14 points. The team now eyes a crucial win in their upcoming group-stage matches.

What did Sophie Cunningham say about Diana Taurasi? Indiana Fever star compares WNBA legend to Caitlin Clark
Sophie Cunningham compared Diana Taurasi with Caitlin Clark (Image via Instagram / @ sophie_cham) Sophie Cunningham spent her initial six years with the Phoenix Mercury in the WNBA, playing alongside Diana Taurasi. On the other hand, she also had the opportunity to play with the star guard, Caitlin Clark, while she was in the Indiana Fever. Now, the guard recently compared the styles of Diana Taurasi and Caitlin Clark. Despite the contrasting styles of the two players, Sophie Cunningham mentioned on Thursday that there are striking resemblances between the two. Sophie Cunningham sees striking similarities between Diana Taurasi and Caitlin Clark Due to her remarkable career and her status as the WNBA 's all-time top scorer, Diana Taurasi is regarded as one of the best players in the league. Meanwhile, Sophie Cunningham got the opportunity to play with Caitlin Clark , the presumed heir to Diana Taurasi's throne. She feels that these two players have a lot of similarities. Sophie Cunningham and Caitlin Clark (Image via Getty Images) Before the Indiana Fever 's recent game, she stated the same: 'D.T. will always be my GOAT… I've never met someone who thinks the game how she thinks, the way that she was a pro in doing her weights, her rehab. The way she trained in the offseason when she was towards the end of her career, when she wasn't going overseas. I just have never seen anything like that.' Diana Taurasi and Caitlin Clark undoubtedly have several things in common, including their unrestricted shooting range and their position as the WNBA's spokesperson. Having said that, Sophie Cunningham stated: 'The way that Caitlin thinks of the game, that's a really close second… They're always 10 plays ahead of everyone; they're always on a whole different wavelength. I am just happy that I got my time with D.T. I love her to death. I'm so excited to watch her docuseries. I think she deserves the world...' She concluded: 'But it's been fun to be a sponge and then talk to Caitlin, you know, just kind of seeing that she's at the beginning of her professional career, but there are a lot of similarities there…' In addition, there are parallels in history between the Phoenix Mercury superstar and the Indiana Fever phenomenon. Diana Taurasi, for instance, is the sole player in league history to reach 10,000 points. Meanwhile, as a rookie, Caitlin Clark established the record for most assists in history.
