Katy Perry's Stage Prop Malfunctions Mid-Air in Viral Concert Video
Katy Perry's Stage Prop Malfunctions Mid-Air in Viral Concert Video originally appeared on Parade. Katy Perry is going viral once again - but this time it's for a terrifying mishap during the most recent show of The LifeTimes Tour. During the Friday, July 18 concert in San Francisco, video captures Perry's flying butterfly prop seemingly malfunctioning mid-air. The singer was belting out her hit Roar when the machine jolted to the side, sending her into a brief plunge. Perry hung on tight while the prop swung from side to side. After a few seconds, the butterfly stabilized, and Perry signaled to her fans that she was okay and continued on with the show. Perry referenced the incident on her Instagram Story later that night, posting a close-up of her shocked expression as she experienced the unexpected drop and added a "Goodnight San Fran" sticker to the post. RELATED: The incident comes shortly after Beyoncé experienced a similar malfunction during the Cowboy Carter tour. While performing in Houston last month, the singer was inside a flying car prop when it began to tilt mid-air. Luckily, she was safely lowered to the ground and the show continued without further issues. After the viral video was posted on X, fans couldn't help but point out how dangerous these types of props are. "I'm sorry that's actually so scary, when will artists learn to not use these types of props." wrote one fan. "Idk why all these [flying] contraptions been malfunctioning but…. The girls need to stay grounded !" commented another. "Everybody just please stay on the ground." added another user with a crying emoji. 🎬SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox🎬 Katy Perry's Stage Prop Malfunctions Mid-Air in Viral Concert Video first appeared on Parade on Jul 19, 2025 This story was originally reported by Parade on Jul 19, 2025, where it first appeared. Luke Bryan breaks silence after being hit in the FACE during shock concert moment
Country star Luke Bryan has broken his silence after he was hit in the face by a flying object during a performance at the North Dakota State Fair over the weekend. In an interview with Taste of Country, Luke, 49, said the whole crowd was having fun - but the individual who threw the object went 'too far.' 'It's the last song of the night. It was a big ole fun party, and I think one person just took it too far,' Luke told the publication, which noted the country singer sounded 'forgiving.' Luke admitted he could see himself confronting the culprit, however he doesn't necessarily believe that would be appropriate at a show where both adults and kids are present. Even calling out the person from the stage has the potential to ruin the show. 'I mean, if I saw him throw it, I could have gone right to him,' Luke said. 'I probably would have jumped right off in there. 'If I jump off in there ... there were a lot of little kids down there,' he said. 'At that point, if I'd even stopped it and pointed somebody out, it kills the vibe of the show.' According to KFYR-TV, the American Idol judge was singing his hit song Country Girl (Shake It For Me) when he was struck by a stress ball mid-performance on Saturday. A fan video shared on TikTok captured the moment Bryan paused briefly, glanced down at the ball and stared into the crowd before continuing with his set. 'Poor @Luke Bryan got hit in the face during his encore. Carried on like a champ though,' one fan wrote under the clip. Despite the unexpected interruption, Bryan maintained his composure and finished the song without missing a beat. 'There is no excuse for this,' one fan commented. Another added: 'Shame on whoever did this.' 'Who throws something at someone they paid to see?' a third asked. Others applauded Bryan's professionalism, with one viewer noting, 'Luke Bryan got hit but kept on rockin' — much respect.' Chief Deputy Larry Hubbard of the Ward County Sheriff's Office, who oversees security at the fair, confirmed to KFYR-TV that the incident involved a small plush or stress ball. While no injuries were reported, Hubbard said incidents like these are becoming more frequent. 'It is an issue, especially when they are throwing it at all, but when they're throwing it at the stage, at the artist. I think it paints the event in a bad light,' Hubbard said. He also noted that announcements are made before each concert, urging attendees not to throw objects. At this time, authorities have not identified the individual responsible, and there is no active investigation, as no complaints have been filed. Bryan joins a growing list of artists who've faced similar disruptions from audience members. In May, SZA walked out of a meet-and-greet after a fan threw a bracelet at her. In June 2023, Bebe Rexha was hit in the face with a cell phone during a New York concert, resulting in a cut above her eye that required stitches. 'There is no excuse for this,' one fan commented while another wrote: 'Shame on whoever did this' That same month, a Pink concert was interrupted when a fan tossed what was reportedly a bag of their mother's ashes onto the stage. Artists like Harry Styles, Cardi B, Lil Nas X, and Drake have also been targeted mid-performance. Previously Taylor Swift spoke out about how it 'really freaks' her out when objects are thrown on her stage. 'If it's on the stage, then a dancer could trip on it,' the Cruel Summer hitmaker told an audience in Buenos Aires during a 2023 Eras Tour show. 'I love that you brought presents and that is so nice, but just, can you please not throw them on the stage? I love you so much.' Though this latest incident ended without injury, fans and event organizers alike are calling for more accountability and respect for artists.

Iconic Pop Star Nearly Plummets During Sky-High Grand Entrance at Houston Show
Iconic Pop Star Nearly Plummets During Sky-High Grand Entrance at Houston Show originally appeared on Parade. Houston concertgoers witnessed a heart-stopping moment when elaborate stage production took an unexpected turn. The Grammy-winning superstar's signature "flying car" prop malfunctioned during a performance of '16 Carriages', sending a ripple of fear through the NRG Stadium crowd before crew members safely brought her back to the stage. The dramatic incident unfolded as Beyoncé was suspended high above the audience in the elaborate prop, designed to glide her across the arena. The mechanism appeared to falter, causing the "car" to tip precariously, threatening to plunge the singer into the crowd below. Quick-thinking stage crew immediately intervened, working to stabilize the platform and lower it to the ground. Once safely on solid ground, Beyoncé disembarked and walked back to resume her show, with fans remarking on her composure. Fans quickly took to Reddit, sharing their shock and concern. One wrote, "You'd never get me in that thing again." The proximity of the prop to the audience also sparked worry among commenters. "Is that above the crowd? It could have hurt more people than just her if that's the case," another fan observed, highlighting the potential danger. The incident rang true with others who had been to the star's Cowboy Carter concert in a different venue. "I saw her in Chicago and when the car came out I legit turned to my friend and said 'You'd never get me on that in a million years,'' a fan shared, emphasizing a common apprehension about such high-flying stunts. 🎬 The near-disaster sparked a broader conversation about the safety of concert props. "This is my biggest worry when I see artists have these types of props at their show," a fan commented. "It's obv so cool but malfunctions happen and this one seems like a scary one. It was literally tipping over." Despite the malfunction, Beyoncé's quick recovery and the swift action of her crew ensured a safe outcome, allowing the show to continue and reaffirming her reputation as an unflappable performer.
