The Big Question: Will Trevor Harris start at quarterback in Saskatchewan's next game?

After a 4-0 start to the 2025 CFL season, the Saskatchewan Roughriders are into their first bye week of the season. Article content And heading into the break, there's one question we probably know the answer to but will need to wait until next week before it's officially confirmed: Article content Article content Will Trevor Harris start at quarterback in Saskatchewan's next game? Article content That is 'The Big Question' this week and it appears Harris will in fact return to his starting role when the Roughriders return to practice next week ahead of Saskatchewan's Week 6 contest against the Calgary Stampeders on July 11. Article content Harris was victorious in his first three starts this season, including Saskatchewan's Week 3 game in Toronto on June 20, when the quarterback took a late hit to the helmet before being knocked to the turf. Article content Harris stayed in the game and it wasn't until after the game that he apparently started feeling concussion-related symptoms. The Roughriders put Harris in concussion protocol and the veteran quarterback was forced to miss the first two days of practice last week for the Green and White as they prepared to host the B.C. Lions on the weekend. Article content While Jake Maier got the reps on Day 1 and 2, Harris returned for the team's closed practice on Thursday as a full participant before being placed on the one-game injured list on Friday when the team released its depth chart. Article content Evidently, Harris didn't clear concussion protocol in time for a full contact and a return to the field on Saturday. Since he was trending in the right direction and appears fine, head coach Corey Mace said after Saturday's game that Harris should in fact return after the team's bye week. Article content 'The timing for the protocol didn't work, but Trevor will be fine,' said Mace. 'I would expect him to be ready for Calgary.' Article content Article content As for Maier, he did what he was asked to do on Saturday as the veteran of 45 career CFL starts made his first start with the Green and White. Article content 'I was really pleased overall with his with his effort, which was clearly more than enough for us,' Mace said of Maier. Article content Running back A.J. Ouellette had a career game with 138 rushing yards while Saskatchewan's defence chipped in with three interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown by Tevaughn Campbell. Article content After the game, Maier said getting his first start in green and white was 'amazing' but even he knows he'll be relegated to a backup role once again when Harris returns next week.

Wings rookie Paige Bueckers out with knee issue day after loss to Fever without Caitlin Clark

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Dallas Wings standout rookie Paige Bueckers has been ruled out of Saturday night's home game against Washington because of a right knee issue. Bueckers showed up on the team's game status report Saturday. There were no details about what the exact issue was a day after she scored 27 points and had six assists while playing nearly 36 1/2 minutes in the Wings' 94-86 loss to the Indiana Fever. It will be the fifth game missed by the No. 1 pick in this year's draft. Bueckers was sidelined three games while in the WNBA's concussion protocol and then sat out because of illness the first game she was eligible to return. In her 13 games played, Bueckers has averaged 18.4 points, 5.8 assists, 4.4 rebounds and 1.8 steals. Caitlin Clark, last year's WNBA Rookie of the Year, didn't play for the Fever on Friday night, missing her second consecutive game because of a left groin injury. That spoiled what was supposed to be the first meeting of the past two No. 1 picks in the draft, though the 20,000-seat American Airlines Center was still nearly full for the game. The Wings hosted Washington at College Park Center on the UT-Arlington campus, their home arena that has a capacity of 6,251. That is about 20 miles from the AAC in downtown Dallas. ___ AP WNBA:

Paige Bueckers off Wings injury report, apparently set for return from 4-game absence

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Dallas Wings rookie Paige Bueckers is no longer listed in the team's injury report, apparently clearing the way for her return from a four-game absence, first with a concussion and then an illness. Bueckers is set to play at the Phoenix Mercury on Wednesday night, a day after going through a full practice. The No. 1 pick in this year's draft missed three games in the WNBA's concussion protocol before sitting out an 81-65 home loss to the undefeated Minnesota Lynx with an unspecified illness. Bueckers last played in a 97-92 loss to the Chicago Sky on May 29. Bueckers is averaging 14.7 points and 6.7 assists in six games for the Wings, who have the league's worst record at 1-9. ___ AP WNBA:

Twins reinstate Byron Buxton from concussion injured list after 11-game absence

SEATTLE (AP) — The Minnesota Twins reinstated center fielder Byron Buxton from the seven-day concussion injured list on Friday before beginning a three-game series in Seattle, two weeks after he collided with shortstop Carlos Correa in pursuit of a shallow fly ball. Buxton missed 11 games after the collision, which also sent Correa into the concussion protocol. Correa only needed the minimum seven-day stay on the injured list and missed five games. To make room for Buxton, outfielder Carson McCusker was sent back to Triple-A St. Paul. Buxton was batting .261 with an .834 OPS and 18 extra-base hits, including 10 homers, before he was hurt. He also had 33 runs, 27 RBIs and eight steals in his first 41 games. ___ AP MLB:
