New details emerge after 'lovely' woman allegedly stabbed to death inside her home in coastal town
A 'lovely' woman who was allegedly stabbed to death at her home was awarded money from Queensland Police after a judge ruled officers had failed to consider her as a potential victim of domestic violence when she was hit with two offences. Emergency services rushed to a home at Creekside Esplanade in Cooloola Cove, 220km north of Brisbane, at 7.15pm on Sunday following reports of a stabbing. Police and paramedics found 58-year-old Angela Gauld inside her home. She was pronounced dead at the scene. It is believed Ms Gauld died from one stab wound, with the knife located nearby. Police have confirmed her death is being treated as suspicious. Neighbours described the New Zealander, who had lived at the home with her two boxer dogs since 2021, as 'lovely' and energetic', 9News reported. A man, who called emergency services and was at the home when police arrived, was assisting with their inquiries and was released without charge on Monday. It comes after Queensland Police paid Ms Gauld $1,850 after a judge found officers who charged her with two driving offences failed to properly consider domestic violence when investigating the crash in March, 2024. Ms Gauld, who represented herself, was awarded the money after Magistrate Bevan Hughes dismissed the charges in court. Magistrate Hughes found the conduct of the two officers failed to 'meet the moment' for 'not properly regarding Ms Gauld's legitimate interests as a potential victim of domestic violence'. Daily Mail Australia is not suggesting the incidents are related or that the man questioned by police on Monday was involved in the previous court matter. Detective Inspector Craig Mansfield said police were aware of the court action and confirmed that a 'domestic violence incident had been investigated'. He said police would be investigating the circumstances around her death, including whether it had been self-harm related. Police are working to establish whether the man and Ms Gauld had a personal connection despite not being in a de facto relationship. Forensics were seen inspecting the area outside the front of the home on Monday. Officers searched a ute parked out the front of a gate which led to the front door between the home and the garage.
