Spartans target, 3-star QB Cooper Newman to reportedly visit MSU next month
Michigan State football to reportedly host a three-star quarterback prospect in the 2027 class for a visit next month. Cooper Newman of Sevierville, Tenn. will reportedly visit Michigan State for their home game against Boston College on September 6. Ryan O'Bleness of Spartans Illustrated reported the notable visit for Newman. Newman is a three-star prospect with recruiting rating of 82.33 in Rivals' Industry Ranking system. He ranks as the No. 48 quarterback and No. 563 overall prospect in the class. Michigan State is one of more than 10 schools to extend an offer to Newman, according to On3. Other schools to offer Newman were Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, Northwestern, Maryland, Appalachian State, Marshall, Toledo, Gardner-Webb and Bowling Green. Newman is one of many big-name visitors coming to Michigan State for a game this fall, with the Boston College matchup in week two being a massive recruiting weekend for the Spartans. Adding Newman to that list is promising and makes this weekend even bigger for the Spartans' recruitment in the 2027 class. Michigan State target, 3-star QB Cooper Newman picks up offer from fellow Big Ten school A quarterback prospect that Michigan State has identified as a key target in the 2027 class has picked up an offer from a fellow Big Ten school. Michigan State target Cooper Newman of Sevierville, Tenn. announced on Friday that he has received an offer from Northwestern. Newman picked up an offer from the Spartans last week, and the Wildcats are now the latest power four program to also offer Newman. Newman is listed as a three-star quarterback in the 2027 class, according to On3. He ranks as the No. 35 quarterback and No. 14 player from Tennessee in the class. Michigan State and Northwestern are just a few of a few big-time programs to recently extend him an offer. He has also picked up notable offers from North Carolina and Georgia Tech in May. Outside of those four schools, he also holds offers from Virginia Tech, Appalachian State, Toledo, Marshall, Bowling Green and Gardner-Webb. Michigan State is set to host Newman for an unofficial visit next week. Newman will be at Michigan State on June 13.
