Another major Emmerdale exit as star at centre of key story 'set to leave'
We've known it was on the cards, but it's now being reported that John Sugden's (Oliver Farnworth) departure from Emmerdale is fast approaching. We discovered earlier this year that Victoria Sugden's (Isabel Hodgins) distant brother John was responsible for killing Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter) and then disposing of his body in th elake. John, as viewers know, has something of a hero complex, whereby he orchestrates situations by putting people's lives in danger before swooping in last minute to play the saviour. He has endangered the lives of various villagers including Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) and Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant), spiked Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) and set Ella Forster (Paula Lane) up. Villains in a soap always have a shelf life. While it's been known that time will eventually run out for John, it's now suggested he will depart sooner than we think. 'It's the beginning of the end for John. He's got away with so much but he's about to make a fatal mistake that sees him exposed for what he is.' A source added to The Sun: 'Obviously Oliver knew that a character like John had a shelf life and that's rapidly approaching. 'He's loved his time on the show but there's still plenty of twists and turns coming before he departs for good.' Metro has contacted Emmerdale for a comment. John's partner Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller), who has no idea of what his husband is capable of, will face heartbreak in upcoming episodes, as John will murder his best friend Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb). Fan-favourite Mack, a mainstay of the ITV soap for five years, previously suspected that there was more to John than meets the eye but the sinister medic subsequently won him over with his lies and manipulation. However, things will take a shocking turn in future scenes. Metro has been aware of Mack's fate for some time but decided to leave things as a surprise until closer to the time. A source told us: 'The John story has so many twists and turns to come and this will come as a genuine surprise to fans. 'Mack has survived quite a lot over the years but his time is well and truly up this time. 'What his exit does is set the stage for an exciting next stage to John's saga later in the autumn that will leave fans quite literally on edge.' Mack made his debut when he turned up at Butlers as the long-lost younger sibling of Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb). He also swiftly embarked on a relationship with Charity, who was seeing Vanessa at the time of their one night stand. In the years since, Mack has been at the centre of numerous stories, including a one night stand with Chloe Harris, which led to the birth of his son Reuben. More Trending The storyline led to Charity and Mack splitting up but ultimately they found their way back to one another and have been happy in the years since, but it seems it could all be set to end in tragedy if John does in fact kill Mack. Speaking of John, the murderer has been doing his utmost to keep a lid on his crimes but the unexpected comeback of Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) has proven a thorn in his side. Robert, who was previously married to Aaron, has made it his mission to expose John, knowing full well that he cannot be trusted. View More » As it stands, John currently has the upper hand as he possesses footage of Robert attacking him, which he will no doubt use as leverage when the situation calls for it. Corrie legend died penniless and on benefits after two decades on soap
Peter Adamson rose to fame over the years, but was particularly known for his role as Len Fairclough in Coronation Stree, and was on benefits at the time of his death A Coronation Street actor died penniless on benefits after two decades on ITV soap, it has been reported. Peter Adamson died at the age of 72 in 2002 at his home in Bury. He was known for playing the role of Len Fairclough in the iconic show. It has been said that he was a "virtual recluse" in the last few years of his life as a result of his acting career coming to an end in the 1980s. Peter starred in a huge 1,730 episodes of Coronation Street during his 22-year stint, which took place from 1961 until 1983. This was his last acting job as he was then accused of indecently assaulting two eight-year-old girls at Haslingden Baths, where he worked as a swimming instructor the same year. He was acquitted of the charges at Burnley Crown Court. While drunk, he was allegedly persuaded to change his story and is alleged to have said in an interview: "I am totally guilty of everything the police said... But what I hope you will print – there was no sexual intent." He was paid £110,000 for the interview. But Lincolnshire Police later re-interviewed Adamson, who denied the confession. The reporter in question said he had "mislaid" the interview tapes, and the police took no further action. He was immediately sacked by ITV bosses and written out of the soap. The actor left to start a new life in Canada to start a new life but soon came back to the UK and was declared bankrupt in 1991. Upon his return, he had to live in a rented flat and relied on benefits as he was unable to find work. While he was on Corrie, he was paid £10,000 a year, which is around £190,000 in today's money. Peter was still receiving benefits when he died, but he had financial issues more than once in his life. It was said that the actor heavily drank while he worked and owed thousands to Inland Revenue by the late 1960s. He was then suspended from Coronation Street in 1969 due to his drinking. The legal bill from his trial showed the financial issues he went through in his life. Things got even worse for the actor after the trial, as his wife Jean died shortly after. Peter managed to add some final acting roles to his list, which included radio work and a West End production of Dial M for Murder. He also had a stint in Vanburgh's The Relapse in 1988. The star left behind two sons when he passed away in 2002.
