Another major Emmerdale exit as star at centre of key story 'set to leave'
We discovered earlier this year that Victoria Sugden's (Isabel Hodgins) distant brother John was responsible for killing Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter) and then disposing of his body in th elake.
John, as viewers know, has something of a hero complex, whereby he orchestrates situations by putting people's lives in danger before swooping in last minute to play the saviour.
He has endangered the lives of various villagers including Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) and Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant), spiked Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) and set Ella Forster (Paula Lane) up.
Villains in a soap always have a shelf life. While it's been known that time will eventually run out for John, it's now suggested he will depart sooner than we think.
'It's the beginning of the end for John. He's got away with so much but he's about to make a fatal mistake that sees him exposed for what he is.'
A source added to The Sun: 'Obviously Oliver knew that a character like John had a shelf life and that's rapidly approaching.
'He's loved his time on the show but there's still plenty of twists and turns coming before he departs for good.'
Metro has contacted Emmerdale for a comment.
John's partner Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller), who has no idea of what his husband is capable of, will face heartbreak in upcoming episodes, as John will murder his best friend Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb).
Fan-favourite Mack, a mainstay of the ITV soap for five years, previously suspected that there was more to John than meets the eye but the sinister medic subsequently won him over with his lies and manipulation.
However, things will take a shocking turn in future scenes.
Metro has been aware of Mack's fate for some time but decided to leave things as a surprise until closer to the time.
A source told us: 'The John story has so many twists and turns to come and this will come as a genuine surprise to fans.
'Mack has survived quite a lot over the years but his time is well and truly up this time.
'What his exit does is set the stage for an exciting next stage to John's saga later in the autumn that will leave fans quite literally on edge.'
Mack made his debut when he turned up at Butlers as the long-lost younger sibling of Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb). He also swiftly embarked on a relationship with Charity, who was seeing Vanessa at the time of their one night stand.
In the years since, Mack has been at the centre of numerous stories, including a one night stand with Chloe Harris, which led to the birth of his son Reuben. More Trending
The storyline led to Charity and Mack splitting up but ultimately they found their way back to one another and have been happy in the years since, but it seems it could all be set to end in tragedy if John does in fact kill Mack.

Speaking of John, the murderer has been doing his utmost to keep a lid on his crimes but the unexpected comeback of Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) has proven a thorn in his side.
Robert, who was previously married to Aaron, has made it his mission to expose John, knowing full well that he cannot be trusted.

As it stands, John currently has the upper hand as he possesses footage of Robert attacking him, which he will no doubt use as leverage when the situation calls for it.

Strictly Come Dancing 2025 line-up latest as three more celebrities named
Strictly Come Dancing 2025 line-up latest as three more celebrities named Three celebrities have been named as part of Strictly Come Dancing's 2025 line-up Strictly Come Dancing has unveiled three more celebrities set to compete in its upcoming 2025 season. The three new names join Olympian and Gladiators star Harry Aikines-Aryeetey who was confirmed on CBBC's Newsround. He will be joined by Dani Dyer, Alex Kingston, and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink who were announced live on The One Show, on Monday August 11. First introduced was Dani Dyer, daughter of actor Danny Dyer who has starred in multiple films as well as as the Queen Vic's landlord on EastEnders. Dani herself is a TV personality, author, broadcaster, and mother of three. Her eclectic resume includes fronting documentaries such as Is This Anxiety?, co-hosting the podcast Live and Let Dyers with her father Danny, and appearing in travel series Absolutely Dyer: Danny and Dani Do Italy. Dani has also made guest appearances on EastEnders and Celebrity Gogglebox. Dani Dyer is the second celebrity confirmed for Strictly's newest season (Image: BBC) Dani first rose to prominence after winning Love Island in 2018 and has since gathered more than three million social media followers. She is also a published author with her debut book What Would Dani Do? making the Sunday Times bestseller list. In May she married West Ham footballer Jarrod Bowen. Speaking about joining Strictly Dani admitted it was "so hard" keeping the news from friends and family, revealing she's not a very good liar. Her parents are reportedly very excited for her. Reflecting on the experience Dani described the show as "such a fun and magical" opportunity and said being asked to participate is "an honour". She said: "Getting the opportunity to be on Strictly is the second-most amazing thing I've done this year. I feel very, very blessed and cannot wait to get my dancing shoes on " When asked if practising with her husband Jarrod was a way of preparing for the show Dani laughed, saying that while they did practice a few days before it certainly wasn't a proper routine. "I wanted a Dirty Dancing routine but that's not Jarrod," she joked. Dani admitted that learning the routine is one of her biggest causes of nerves but she's looking forward to the costumes, which she says "just make you feel like a princess". Doctor Who and ER star Alex Kingston was the next celebrity confirmed. Alex has enjoyed a career spanning more than four decades, gaining international recognition for her role as Dr Elizabeth Corday on ER, where she starred for eight years and won a Screen Actors Guild Award. Alex Kingston is getting ready to put her dancing shoes on (Image: BBC) However many will also recognise her as the iconic River Song, aka The Doctor's Wife, a role she has played alongside three different Doctors on screen, as well as in audio adventures and novels. Her extensive television work includes a Bafta-nominated performance in Moll Flanders, as well as roles in Douglas Is Cancelled, Treason, Gilmore Girls, Boudica, Lost in Austen, Dodger, A Discovery of Witches, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, and Arrow. On stage Alex's range includes Lady Macbeth, Nurse Ratched in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Prospero for the Royal Shakespeare Company, and many more. Speaking from a "secret location" in Italy while chatting with hosts Roman Kemp and Alex Scott Alex confessed she has long wanted to take part in Strictly. She revealed that seeing her friend and former colleague Sarah Hadland compete last year and "go all the way" inspired her to give it a try. Alex asked Sarah about her experience and was told honestly how challenging and overwhelming the competition can be but also how "lifechanging" it is. "I'm in my 60s so why not just go for it?" Alex said. Both Dani and Alex have planned to meet soon as they prepare for the show. Alex joked about her dance experience, saying 'my hips don't lie' and added: 'I am going to start practising in the kitchen". Joining them as the fourth celebrity is former professional footballer and manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink. Jimmy is best known for his prolific goal-scoring career in the Premier League and across Europe, having played for clubs including Leeds United, Atlético Madrid, and Chelsea. Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is swapping the football pitch for the dancefloor (Image: BBC) Since retiring from football Jimmy has become a familiar face in punditry for major UK sports networks, managed clubs like Burton Albion and Northampton Town, and served as assistant coach for the England national team. Jimmy said of joining Strictly: "Swapping the pitch for the ballroom is certainly not something I've done before but I'm looking forward to tackling a fun challenge. Bring on a new type of footwork with hopefully no own goals." During his interview Jimmy joked about his participation as Alex expressed her utter shock. "A few years ago I'd have said the same," he said referencing Alex's time on the show. As a father of girls Jimmy shared that Strictly is part of their home life and said he was a fan of the show himself so he decided to give it a go. He admitted he has "a little bit of rhythm" but isn't sure what to expect, adding that he thinks a slower dance like the waltz might be his favourite. When Alex pointed out that the furthest a footballer has made it on Strictly is the quarter-finals Jimmy said that fuels his determination. "I am going to do my best – otherwise I'm going to have some serious stick at home." He joked it will be difficult to get England manager Gareth Southgate to watch the show but said dancing with a professional partner who knows the moves "10 times, 100 times better than you" is a real challenge – even more than playing in front of 60,000 or 70,000 football fans. The latest additions has been met with delight by fans as one commented: "It's just been confirmed that Alex Kingston is doing strictly come dancing and I apologise in advance because it's all I'm going to talk about for the next few months". Another added: "I think Danni Dyer is guna be awesome on strictly come dancing". A third fan said: "Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink going on Strictly Come Dancing! Just as well it wasn't Dancing on Ice!" In a surprise announcement earlier on Monday Harry Aikines-Aryeetey was confirmed as the first celebrity to participate in the show. Better known as Nitro to Gladiators fans, Harry is a multi-gold medal-winning Team GB sprinter. He became the first athlete to win gold in both the 100m and 200m at the World Youth Championships, won BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year in 2005, and has since claimed gold in the 4x100m relay at both the European Championships and Commonwealth Games. Harry Aikines-Aryeetey was the first celebrity announced for this year's season of Strictly Come Dancing He has also competed in two Olympic Games, is a three-time European Champion, and a two-time Commonwealth Champion. For the latest TV and showbiz gossip sign up to our newsletter . Harry is no stranger to the dancefloor as many fans may recognise him from last year's Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special. The Olympian delivered a high-energy street commercial routine to Christmas Wrapping by The Waitresses, earning 38 out of 40 points from the judges alongside professional partner Nancy Xu. Speaking about joining Strictly Come Dancing, Harry said: "After the Christmas special it was so nice I just had to do it twice. Article continues below "I'm so excited to be part of the Strictly family this series and I'm ready to give it all I've got. I'll be bringing tons of energy to light up the dancefloor. Let's hope I'm as quick picking up the routines as I am on the track." The 2025 season of Strictly Come Dancing is set to return this autumn on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

Battery Dance Festival is hosting $1 dance workshops this week
Think you can't afford to learn how to groove from world-class dancers? Think again: Battery Dance Festival, the city's longest-running free public dance festival, is bringing back its crowd-favorite $1 workshops this week, and the lineup is as global as it gets. From Monday, August 11 through Saturday, August 16, you can score a morning slot at Battery Dance Studios in Tribeca with visiting artists from Spain, Taiwan, Indonesia and beyond, all for less than the price of your daily coffee. Each 90-minute class runs from 10–11:30 am at the company's fifth-floor space at 380 Broadway (yes, it's a walk-up, but the warm-up starts on the stairs). Reservations are required in advance and spots tend to vanish faster than you can say grand jeté. The token $1 fee is non-refundable—think of it as your investment in bragging rights. Over the course of the week, guest instructors from the Netherlands, Taiwan, Germany, South Korea, Spain and Indonesia will share their unique approaches to movement, culminating with a class led by Battery Dance itself. It's an unusually intimate chance to train with artists who are also performing in the festival, which makes the workshops feel like a backstage pass to the action. The workshops are just one part of the 44th Annual Battery Dance Festival, which is celebrating its latest season with a five-night performance run from Aug. 12–16. Each evening kicks off at 7 pm against a jaw-dropping Hudson River backdrop at Rockefeller Park. The program is a mash-up of premieres, international debuts and live music, drawing more than 12,000 in-person attendees and 35,000 online viewers each summer. Expect everything from tap virtuoso John Manzari & Band to the New York debut of Wan Dance from Indonesia, plus a world premiere from Battery Dance itself. The festival even has themed nights—Friday, Aug. 15 is 'India Day,' featuring a new production on the Goddess Kali by Pittsburgh's Nandanik Dance Troupe and Kolkata-based soloist Subhajit Khush Das. Battery Dance has been connecting New Yorkers with the world through movement since 1976, not just on stage but also in public spaces, schools and conflict zones around the globe. These $1 workshops are a rare chance to step into that mission—literally—while picking up a new skill or three. So lace up, limber up and snag a spot before they're gone.

Devastation as EastEnders fan-favourite reconsiders return
Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) has been left devastated in EastEnders, after learning daughter Lily (Lillia Turner) has postponed her return to Walford. Lily made a temporary departure in May, after realising that she needed time away from her mum in the wake of her step-father Martin Fowler's (James Bye) death. Martin tragically passed away in February, falling victim to the horrific explosion that tore through The Queen Vic pub. There seemed to be a glimmer of hope as he made his exit towards the barrel store with Stacey, but a beam fell from the ceiling and crushed him. As he lay dying, he confessed his love for Stace – telling her that his reunion with Ruby Allen (Louisa Lytton) was a mistake. In the aftermath, she struggled immensely with her grief, neglecting to care for Lily and her younger siblings Arthur and Hope. Lily even turned to drink and drugs to ease her own pain. A vicious argument between mother and daughter ensued, and Lily declared that she was packing her bags and going to stay with birth father Ryan Malloy (Neil McDermott). In tonight's episode, Stacey was thrilled to hear that her eldest was coming home. Amid the buzz and excitement, she noticed that a number of market traders were staring in her direction and gossiping. But what about? To her horror, it became apparent that someone had leaked all of her SecretCam content – the BBC soap's dupe version of OnlyFans – online, for all to see. And given we saw troubled Joel Marshall (Max Murray) accessing her profile last week, it's probably who we'd put our money on being responsible! In fact, following their earlier run-in, Stace' reckoned it was him too. She charged into the caff and outright accused him, with dad Ross (Alex Walkinshaw) leaping to his defence. Joel swore that he wasn't responsible, and back at home, willingly handed over his laptop to prove that he didn't leak the adult material. More Trending He also told Ross and Vicki Fowler (Alice Haig) to check his deleted files, as they wouldn't find anything that would incriminate him. Despite that, Stacey remained convinced – especially when she realised that the wording in the online posts matched what he'd said to her in person during a verbal attack. To make matters worse for poor Stace', she then discovered that Lily wasn't returning home as she was too embarrassed by the revenge porn situation.
