Great British Bake Off judges and hosts confirmed as trailer for new series drops
Great British Bake Off judges and hosts confirmed as trailer for new series drops There's good news for Great British Bake Off fans as Channel 4 has released a new trailer for the upcoming series. The popular show The Great British Bake Off is poised to return to screens imminently as summer draws to a close. The beloved Channel 4 culinary programme has remained a television favourite for years, signalling the start of autumn as millions of viewers settle in to observe both triumphant and disastrous baking attempts. The upcoming series is merely weeks from broadcast as audiences gear up to witness the success, and occasional downfall, of cakes, pastry, and loaves. To herald the approaching new series, Channel 4 has unveiled a sneak peek whilst confirming the presenters and judges, though one remains absent. Comic Joe Wilkinson assumes the role of narrator for the quirky trailer which seems to unfold in outer space, before baking components materialise. He guides viewers through an exploration of existence, featuring presenters Noel Fielding and Alison Hammond appearing as cartoon figures. Referencing the hosts, Joe remarked: "From it grew life, intelligent life, adorned in knitwear and leopard print." Ultimately, it reveals everything originated from the sparkling blue gaze of judge Paul Hollywood himself, reports the Mirror. Judge Prue Leith was absent from the promotional clip for the forthcoming series, though she was represented as a cartoon sun, which had glasses and bright coloured hair. Channel 4 has confirmed her participation as they stated: " As the ovens fire up and a new batch of bakers steps into the iconic tent to face Paul and Prue, audiences can expect all the classic ingredients - warmth, humour, creativity, and just the right amount of competition. "This autumn, let the universe of Bake Off pull you in once again. Because, as the trail says, once there was nothing, and then there was Bake Off." The Great British Bake Off's return has been confirmed (Image: Channel 4) A launch date remains unconfirmed for viewers, though it has been hinted as coming "soon". Prior to Prue's omission from the teaser, numerous supporters had questioned her continued involvement with the programme. She took over from Dame Mary Berry as a judge on the television favourite when it transferred to Channel 4 in 2017, and has remained alongside Paul ever since. The celebrated television chef has also gone on to present Prue Leith's Cotswolds Kitchen for ITV and last year featured on The Masked Singer. Nevertheless, she was absent from presenting responsibilities for Celebrity Great British Bake Off earlier this year, causing viewer anxiety. Many speculated whether she had departed the series, but Prue maintained this was not the situation. Great British Bake Off star Prue Leith addresses exit and why she didn't return for celeb series (Image: ITV) During a guest spot on ITV's Lorraine, she informed audiences that she only stepped back from the celebrity edition because she required a rest, clarifying: "I keep being asked if I'm leaving. "This is because I left the celebrity [version]. I stopped doing that last year because I just hadn't had a holiday in the summer for eight years. I've only given up Celebrity [Bake Off]." She stated: "I still do The Great American Bake Off, which we are filming at the moment, and I still do The Great British Bake Off, which I love, and is the mother of them all." Prue has no plans to leave the regular version of the show, adding: "It's the best job in telly. It's absolutely the best job in telly, I don't have to learn lines, I don't have to have script. I just walk on and eat cake." Article continues below The Great British Bake Off is set to ait later this autumn on Channel 4.

Hit Channel 4 baking show Great British Bake Off will be back on screens very soon as the first look at the latest series has been revealed along with the hosts and judges Great British Bake Off is set to be back on screens very soon as the end of summer nears. The hit Channel 4 baking show has been a TV staple for years, marking the beginning of autumn as millions tune in to watch the successful and not so successful bakes unfold. Its latest series is just weeks away from airing as viewers prepare to witness the rise, and sometimes fall, of sponge, pastry, and bread. To mark a new series on the horizon, Channel 4 has released a first look as they confirm the hosts and judges, with one of them missing. Comedian Joe Wilkinson takes the helm as narrator for the eccentric trailer that appears to be set in space, before baking ingredients appear. It comes after Channel 4 breaks silence after Gogglebox couple suddenly dumped from show. He takes the viewers on a journey of life, with hosts Noel Fielding and Alison Hammond making an appearance as animated characters. In a nod to the hosts, Joe quipped: "From it grew life, intelligent life, adorned in knitwear and leopard print." Inspired by the Big Bang, the trailer imagines a universe born not from dust and gas, but from a spectacular explosion of flour, sugar, and baked wonders. In the end, it shows it was all formed from the twinkling blue eye of judge Paul Hollywood himself. Judge Prue Leith was nowhere to be seen in the clip for the upcoming series, but Channel 4 confirmed she will be taking part. They said: " As the ovens fire up and a new batch of bakers steps into the iconic tent to face Paul and Prue, audiences can expect all the classic ingredients — warmth, humour, creativity, and just the right amount of competition. "This autumn, let the universe of Bake Off pull you in once again. Because, as the trail says, once there was nothing, and then there was Bake Off." A return date is yet to be shared with fans, but it has been teased it is "soon". Before Prue's absence from the trailer, many fans had questioned her future on the show. She replaced Dame Mary Berry as a judge on the TV favourite when it moved to Channel 4 in 2017, and has been seen alongside Paul ever since. The renowned TV chef has also gone on to host Prue Leith's Cotswolds Kitchen for ITV and last year appeared on The Masked Singer. However, she failed to return to presenting duties for Celebrity Great British Bake Off earlier this year leaving fans concerned. Many wondered if she had quit the series, but Prue insisted it was not the case. During an appearance on ITV's Lorraine, she told viewers that she only stopped appearing the celebrity version because she needed a break, explaining: "I keep being asked if I'm leaving. "This is because I left the celebrity [version]. I stopped doing that last year because I just hadn't had a holiday in the summer for eight years. I've only given up Celebrity [Bake Off]." She said: "I still do The Great American Bake Off, which we are filming at the moment, and I still do The Great British Bake Off, which I love, and is the mother of them all." Prue has no intention of leaving the regular version of the programme, adding: "It's the best job in telly. It's absolutely the best job in telly, I don't have to learn lines, I don't have to have script. I just walk on and eat cake."

Dame Prue Leith sets record on Great British Bake Off exit after quitting celebrity specials
The Great British Bake Off judge Prue Leith has been a show judge since it moved to Channel 4 from the BBC in 2017 and has given an update after she quit the celebrity version Dame Prue Leith has addressed the rumours that she is going to quit The Great British Bake Off. The renowned TV chef, replaced Dame Mary Berry as a judge on the TV favourite when it moved to Channel 4 in 2017, and has been seen alongside Paul Hollywood ever since. She has also gone on to host Prue Leith's Cotswolds Kitchen for ITV and last year appeared on The Masked Singer. But, earlier this year, she did not appear on the celebrity edition of Bake Off so fans are always asking her if she has quit for good. But that is not the case, and during an appearance on ITV's Lorraine, she told viewers that she only stopped appearing the celebrity version because she needed a break, explaining: "I keep being asked if I'm leaving. This is because I left the celebrity [version]. I stopped doing that last year because I just hadn't had a holiday in the summer for eight years. I've only given up Celebrity [Bake Off]." The TV favourite is currently busy filming the American version of the baking show, and confirmed that she is still very much a part of the original programme. She said: "I still do The Great American Bake Off, which we are filming at the moment, and I still do The Great British Bake Off, which I love, and is the mother of them all." Prue, who was replaced by Caroline Waldegrave as a judge on the latest series of the Stand Up 2 Cancer specials, has no intention of leaving the regular version of the programme, adding: "It's the best job in telly. It's absolutely the best job in telly, I don't have to learn lines, I don't have to have script. I just walk on and eat cake." The star was also quick to heap praise on the addition of Alison Hammond as presenter, who replaced Matt Lucas in 2023 and now carries out hosting duties with Noel Fielding. Noting that the Big Brother legend has had a big impact on the team, she said: "I think Alison has made a huge difference to the team, she gets on so well with Noel with all of us. She's so loving and the bakers adore her, she's like Big Mama!" It was reported earlier this year that Prue had chosen to step back from her duties on the show to relish some well-deserved rest. And at the time, she disclosed: "It's mainly because these things are filmed back to back." She went on to say: "The whole way through the summer, so you start in April and you end at the end of August. Honestly, you get no time off. And, I'm getting a bit old and there's places I want to go." But her replacement is no newbie to the small screen, as Caroline has graced programmes like Chef School, Masterchef, and Tricks of the Trade, and she has also penned several cookbooks. As The Great Celebrity Bake Off gears up for its latest season this weekend, Lady Waldegrave shared her thoughts on succeeding Dame Prue Leith as a judge. She confessed: "I was completely terrified."

Bake Off's Prue Leith left 'blushing' after husband makes cheeky remark live on air
The Great British Bake Off star Prue Leith appeared on This Morning on Friday with her husband, John Playfair Prue Leith's husband, John Playfair, had a cheeky ten-word quip about his wife's bold latex ensemble. The Great British Bake Off judge appeared on This Morning with her husband of nine years this Friday (May 9). Prue spoke to hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary about her new cooking series, Prue Leith's Cotswolds Kitchen. The programme follows Prue as she cooks some of her all-time favourite dishes in her own kitchen in the Cotswolds, with John making regular appearances. However, the conversation soon shifted to Prue's unexpected fashion moment last year. In September 2024, she swapped her usual attire for a striking look at London Fashion Week. Donning a black leather dress with red stitching and lengthy latex gloves, Prue turned heads on the runway for Vin + Omi's 20th-anniversary event, reports Gloucestershire Live. Her outfit was complemented by vibrant red lipstick, edgy short hair, and dramatic black eye makeup. "What did you make of our Prue in latex when she swapped the kitchen for the catwalk?" Alison asked John on today's This Morning. With a succinct ten-word response, John said that he "wanted the costume to go in our dressing up box," with a shocked Alison adding: "There's a dressing up box! Which one is that in?" Dermot chimed in, praising how "great" Prue looked, while the chef herself admitted: "I'm actually blushing. You can't take him anywhere." Discussing how she ended up on the catwalk, Prue revealed: "I met Omi on the train and we got chatting, and that night I said to John, 'We're going to go to dinner with these two guys, I met one of them on the train'. "Vin and Omi are designers, and their great mission in life is to get the fashion trade to be more sustainable and so that's what they do. "They help companies become more sustainable, but they also design amazing clothes and every six months they have a show. I've now walked for them, as they say." Alison was quick to compliment Prue on her catwalk skills, saying she "walked very well", to which Prue humorously responded: "I can't do that wonderful model's walk where they put their hips forward and they look bored."
