Officers conducted a "knock and talk" at the suspect's last known address but were informed by current residents that he was not there. As officers prepared to leave, they spotted a man walking through a nearby grassy area who matched the suspect's description. When questioned, the man identified himself as "Mike," but officers quickly recognized him from a previously issued BOLO (Be On the Lookout) alert. He was taken into custody and later identified as Sylvester York. Officers confirmed he was the subject of an outstanding burglary warrant. Police said York has a lengthy criminal history, with 30 prior arrest cycles that include charges for narcotics, robbery, burglary, and theft. What we know According to the Haralson County Sheriff's Office, deputies were alerted on Thursday about a stolen Honda Ridgeline traveling eastbound on Interstate 20 from Cleburne County, Alabama. Members of the Crime Suppression Unit positioned themselves near Exit 9 and began following the speeding vehicle. Deputies confirmed the tag was listed as stolen and attempted a traffic stop. The driver accelerated, weaving through traffic before veering off the road and crashing into a tree, the sheriff's office said. The suspect fled the scene on foot and was chased by deputies. Law enforcement from the Haralson County Sheriff's Office, Bremen Police Department, Georgia State Patrol, and other agencies joined the search and set up a perimeter. Authorities said the man was later seen crossing back over I-20 and getting into a pickup truck. Deputies stopped the vehicle and took him into custody. What's next The suspect, identified as 28-year-old Tristan Ty Griffin of Katy, Texas, is charged with reckless driving, theft by receiving stolen property, and felony fleeing or attempting to elude police. BRISTOL, Conn (WTNH) — A Bristol man is facing drug charges after police say he was seen conducting multiple hand-to-hand drug transactions. On Thursday night, Bristol's Crime Suppression Unit and Narcotics Enforcement Team were surveilling the Pine Street area when they observed hand-to-hand drug transactions from an individual seated in a vehicle. After approaching the vehicle, police took Iunre Smart, 34, of Bristol, into custody and charged him with criminal possession of a firearm, weapons in a vehicle, and sale of a narcotic substance. A man was arrested following a narcotics investigation that led to a search of his Meriden residence and vehicle last week that allegedly turned up a stolen gun, multiple types of drugs and more than $60,000 in suspected drug trafficking proceeds. Kemar Smith, 27, was arrested last Wednesday on charges of operating a drug factory, possession of a controlled substance, risk of injury to a child, possession of a stolen firearm and possession of narcotics with intent to sell, according to the Meriden Police Department. Police said the Crime Suppression Unit in April and May conducted an investigation into alleged narcotics trafficking in the city that led to Smith being identified as a suspect. Investigators obtained a search warrant for his residence and vehicle. The search allegedly turned up about 997 grams of cocaine, 51 grams of crack cocaine and three grams of fentanyl, police said. Investigators also reported finding a stolen HK 9mm firearm and $64,208 in suspected drug proceeds. Smith was initially held on a $1 million bond and arraigned in New Haven Superior Court. His bail was reduced during the hearing to $750,000, which he has since posted, according to court records. Smith has not entered a plea to the charges, records show. He is due back in court June 18.
