Police hunt suspect linked to daytime shooting in Clearview Twp.
Provincial police are investigating after a shooting in Clearview Township sent one person to the hospital Friday morning. It happened just after 10 a.m. at a property on 15/16 Side Road near Highway 26. Officers from the Huronia West OPP detachment were called to the scene, where they found one person suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was taken to the hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening. According to investigators, the suspects took off before police arrived. They are believed to have left the area in a blue Volkswagen sedan. This investigation remains ongoing by the Huronia West OPP Crime Unit under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch. Man who snatched chain of UP official'swife, others arrested
Lucknow: In a follow-up to the high-profile chain snatching case involving the wife of a senior Uttar Pradesh govt official, the police on Tuesday arrested a serial robber wanted for multiple snatching incidents across the city. " The accused, Brijesh Tiwari alias Vishnu (24), a resident of Lakhimpur Kheri, was apprehended near Sahara Cricket Academy by a joint team of the Surveillance, Crime Unit (Eastern Zone) and Gomti Nagar Police. He was intercepted during vehicle checking while riding a numberless HF Deluxe motorcycle, which turned out to be stolen. He attempted to flee but was overpowered by the team," said DCP East Shashank Singh. The arrest comes just days after Suruchi Singh, wife of an official Bijan Kumar Singh, was targeted by two bike-borne miscreants during her morning jog near Tulsi Park, Krishna Nagar, on Saturday. The snatchers managed to flee with part of her gold chain. A case was filed at Krishna Nagar Police Station, and the incident drew attention due to the victim's official links. Armed robbery at jewellery store under investigation: OPP
Provincial police are investigating an alleged armed robbery at a jewellery store in Collingwood Friday evening. According to Collingwood OPP, officers responded to reports of the robbery while it was in progress at around 5 p.m. on Hurontario Street. Police say several masked suspects broke into the store while armed with tools and forcibly removed merchandise before fleeing by car. The responding officers secured the scene and began an immediate investigation through witness accounts and nearby video surveillance. Members of OPP Central Region's Forensic Identification Services were involved in collecting and examining evidence. Initial findings of the investigation claim that the incident involved a degree of coordination and planning. Collingwood OPP's Crime Unit is leading the investigation. Police say they are exploring all avenues, including potential links to networked or regional crime activity.
