Putin's 'shaky' legs after Trump summit reignite health conspiracy theories

To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Most people watching Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump's 'summit of the century' in Alaska overnight were left feeling pretty underwhelmed. The US president famous for his love of a deal failed to reach one, while the subsequent blockbuster joint press conference between the world's two most powerful leaders fizzled out in 12 minutes. Ukrainians will have been looking on aghast at Putin being given the red carpet treatment after the horrors his war have inflicted on their country. But some managed to find some humour in the otherwise gloomy meeting after a clip of Putin bidding farewell to Trump once again raised eyebrows about his health. The footage shows the Russian leader's legs twitching oddly at the knees and rocking back and forward on his heel and toes. On Telegram, the Times of Ukraine channel asked: 'Attention — Putin's legs. What is wrong with them?' The Nevzorov channel said: 'Putin seems to have achieved his goal, but he is twitching suspiciously. His legs are 'shaking'. Maybe his shoes are tight.' Crimean Wind suggested Putin was wearing 'a strange element resembling a light exoskeleton' under his suit trousers. Others pointed out the thick soles on his shoes, saying he was trying to overcome his 'Napoleon complex' and bridge the eight-inch height difference between them. 'Apparently, suffering from a Napoleon complex, Putin decided not to limit himself to traditional shoes with hidden platforms adding up to five inches in height for the 'meeting of the century',' Crimean Wind continued. After the summit, Trump said Ukraine should agree a deal to end the war with Russia because 'Russia is a very big power, and they're not'. In a major shift, Trump also said he had agreed with Putin that the best way to end the war was to go straight to a peace settlement – not via a ceasefire, as Ukraine and its European allies, until now with US support, have been demanding. The war – the deadliest in Europe for 80 years – has killed or wounded well over a million people from both sides, including thousands of mostly Ukrainian civilians, according to analysts. Later, Putin was seen bending his knee to lay flowers at the graves of Soviet pilots and other military personnel at the Fort Richardson Memorial Cemetery. During the Lend-Lease programme during the Second World War, Soviet pilots trained in Alaska and ferried US-built aircraft across the Bering Strait. More Trending Some died during training or flights. After laying flowers, Putin returned to his 'Flying Kremlin' Il-96-300PU presidential plane, where he is known as 'Passenger Number One'. Footage from Putin's plane showed he was given a stealth F-22 US air force fighter escort from Anchorage to the American-Russian border. Soon afterwards – after crossing the International Date Line – Putin landed in the far-flung Russian region Chukotka, where ex-Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich was once the governor, for meetings with local officials. The Ukrainian attacks came a day after Russia launched the largest aerial attack on Ukraine with 477 drones and 60 missiles. For weeks, Russia has been launching hundreds of drones and missiles into Ukraine on a near-daily basis. Just this week, Russia has launched more than 114 missiles, over 1,270 drones, and nearly 1,100 glide bombs, Ukrainian officials told state media outlet United 24. The two provinces make up the Donbas region. In separate attacks, Ukraine struck Russian air defence systems and aerial platforms in occupied Crimea. 👀 Temporarily occupied Donetsk and Luhansk were reportedly attacked by drones overnight. In Luhansk, the target was an oil depot. — UNITED24 Media (@United24media) July 1, 2025 Russia strikes Ukraine's air defence systems — potentially S-400 Ukraine's military intelligence service HUR has said that it struck a host of Russian air defence systems and aerial systems in the early hours of Tuesday. The HUR published footage of attacks on the internet said that domestically-produced UJ-26 'Bober' drones were involved in the attacks. The HUR said that the drones struck a Pantsir-S1 air defence system with its crew, a Niobium-SV radar, a Pechora-3 coastal radar, a Protivnik-GE radar system, and a Su-30 fighter plane at the Saky airbase. 'Reliable weapons in the hands of HUR special forces are turning the aggressor state's high-value military targets into useless scrap,' the HUR said. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Separately, open-source intelligence analyst Crimean Wind reported on Telegram that Ukrainian drones could have also struck S-300 or S-400 air defence systems. However, there was no official confirmation or mainstream media reporting of such attacks. The possible attack on S-300/S-400 systems is believed to have taken place in on the Kerch Peninsula near the village of Kurortne in the Lenine district, according to the Telegram channel. The open-source analyst noted that systems appear to be S-300 or S-400 launchers with either a 30N6E or 92N6E target illumination radar and a rare 'Kasta-2E2' radar unit. Last week, Ukraine had struck the Kirovske airfield in occupied Crimea and destroyed a Pantsir-S1 system and three Russian helicopters of Mi-8, Mi-26, and Mi-28 types.

Ukraine Embarrasses Putin With Underwater Bomb Plot on His Beloved Bridge

Ukraine's security service, the SBU, carried out a fresh attack on the bridge connecting Russia with occupied Crimea, just days after launching a devastating surprise assault on airbases deep within Russian territory. Video footage shows smoke billowing over the Kerch Bridge following a powerful underwater blast, which the SBU said contained 1,100kg of explosives that 'severely damaged' its foundations. The Kerch Bridge was built in 2018 following Russia's annexation of Crimea four years prior. The bridge holds huge symbolic and sentimental value for Vladimir Putin, who views it as the embodiment of his goal to permanently bind Ukraine to Russia. The incident is the third time the bridge has been attacked since the start of the war. In October 2022, Ukrainian forces attempted to destroy it by detonating a truck full of explosives, which caused structural damage and set fire to part of the bridge. They tried again in 2023 with an experimental sea drone but only succeeded in causing minor damage. In both cases, Russia shut down the bridge and moved quickly to repair the damaged sections. In a post on Telegram announcing the new strike, SBU chief Lt. Gen. Vasyl Malyuk said: 'God loves the Trinity, and the SBU always brings what is conceived to the end and never repeats itself. 'Previously, we struck the Crimean Bridge twice in 2022 and 2023. So today we continued this tradition underwater. There is no place for any illegal Russian facilities on the territory of our state.' He added: 'Therefore, the Crimean Bridge is an absolutely legitimate target, especially considering that the enemy used it as a logistical artery to supply its troops. Crimea is Ukraine, and any manifestations of occupation will receive our tough response.' The bombs detonated at 4:44 a.m., causing the bridge to temporarily close. Pro-Ukrainian Telegram channel Crimean Wind reported it had been closed for inspection, possibly to examine damage, and it was reopened shortly afterward. At around 3 p.m., Crimean Wind reported the bridge had closed again, citing a 'powerful explosion' heard by locals and reports of a fresh drone strike from Ukraine. These claims have yet to be independently verified. The attack comes days after Ukraine launched a devastating surprise attack on Russia in which hundreds of drones destroyed a huge swath of the Kremlin's strategic bombers. Targeting five airbases deep within Russian territory, Ukraine's drones managed to destroy about 40 aircraft, around a third of Putin's fleet, totaling around $7 billion, including irreplaceable nuclear bombers and experimental craft. Announcing the news on Sunday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky revealed he had personally overseen the surprise attack, nicknamed 'Operation Spider-Web,' which had taken more than 18 months to plan. Ukraine reportedly did not inform President Donald Trump's White House of the strike beforehand. 'We are doing everything to protect our independence, our state, and our people,' Zelensky wrote in a post on X. 'I outlined the tasks for the near term and also defined our positions ahead of the meeting in Istanbul on Monday.' Both Ukrainian and Russian officials met for peace talks in Istanbul on Monday but failed to make any progress in agreeing to a ceasefire.
