Former Wisconsin basketball standout signs new professional contract
Former Wisconsin basketball standout Tyler Wahl inked a deal with Panionios B.C. of the Greek Basket League on Tuesday.
For the first time in his brief professional career overseas, Wahl will lace up in EuroCup action. Panionios B.C. participates in the Greek Basketball League -- one of Europe's most elite national domestic leagues. Home to powerhouse Panathinaikos, the league has seen action since the 1920s.
Wahl ventures to Greece after a widely successful stint with KK Zadar, or Zadar Basketball Club, of the Croatian Basketball League and Adriatic Basketball Association this past season. In 28 appearances, the 6-foot-9 forward logged 10.4 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.0 steals in 25.1 minutes per game.
In June, the Minnesota native even helped guide Zadar to its third consecutive Croatian Basketball League title with a two-point win over Split, solidifying his value in his first year playing internationally.
Over his five-year collegiate career with the Badgers, Wahl averaged 8.4 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 162 games played under Greg Gard. As a junior, he notched 11.4 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.2 steals on 51% from the field -- his best season donning the scarlet and white.
Prior to his stint with KK Zadar, Wahl suited up for pre-draft workouts with the Utah Jazz and Milwaukee Bucks in 2024. After going undrafted in 2024, Wahl played for the Minnesota Timberwolves in the NBA Summer League.
Despite his age, Wahl becomes the latest former Badger to ink a new international deal this summer, joining Kamari McGee, Carter Gilmore and Markus Ilver.
