Czechia Hosts World Tourism Forum 2025, Spotlighting Innovation and Sustainability

The Czech capital city, Prague, recently hosted global tourism leaders for the World Tourism Forum 2025, held from May 12 to 13. The two-day event spotlighted innovation, startup development, sustainable practices and the role of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies in shaping the future of tourism. Organized by the Czech Ministry of Regional Development in collaboration with UN Tourism and CzechTourism, the forum brought together policymakers, business leaders and tourism experts from across the world. Held at the Prague Congress Centre, the forum opened with high-level discussions on key topics defining tourism's next chapter. Day One featured panel discussions on the rise of AI in tourism, its ethical and legal implications and the importance of talent development and education. A dedicated startup showcase highlighted travel-tech innovations, with the most promising concepts recognized at the end of the day. Day two featured interactive workshops on the application of big data in tourism, from destination marketing to customer service and on managing the environmental impacts of travel, underlining the importance of sustainability in long-term tourism strategies. Additionally, delegates were also invited to take part in study trips to Kladruby nad Labem, Plze? and Kutná Hora—offering firsthand insights into regional tourism offerings beyond Prague. As the host destination for the World Tourism Forum 2025, Czechia demonstrated its commitment to shaping the future of global tourism through collaboration, innovation and responsible growth. From spotlighting emerging travel technologies to championing sustainable practices, the forum reflected CzechTourism's vision of shaping a smarter and experience-rich tourism landscape—both for visitors and local communities. This year, CzechTourism aims to elevate Czechia as a premier destination for the Middle East region, targeting families, experiential travelers, MICE attendees and leisure enthusiasts. During the event, CzechTourism aims to engage in meaningful discussions and networking sessions with top tour operators, airlines, media representatives and key stakeholders from the travel industry. These interactions will focus on exploring cooperation and collaboration opportunities to enhance the promotion of Czechia in the Middle East. At the booth, visitors can interact with Czechia's private sector partners and discover the diverse tourism experiences the country has to offer. From serene wellness retreats and immersive cultural journeys to gourmet gastronomy – bolstered by Czechia's rising prominence in the Michelin Guide 2025 and premium stays, the country continues to captivate travellers across various interests. Czech Tourist Authority, 15 April 2025– #VisitCzechia, in association with the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Qatar and Kuwait and in partnership with regional airlines announced the successful completion of its exclusive multi-city Road Show 2025 in the Middle East. The event took place from April 07th to April 10th, 2025, across prominent cities in the Middle East, namely Doha, Kuwait City and Muscat. It served as a significant platform for fostering connections and highlighting the diverse attractions of Czechia. The primary objective of the roadshow was to establish robust ties between Czech tourism and the Middle Eastern market. By showcasing the country's multifaceted offerings, particularly emphasizing spa and wellness retreats, offbeat adventures as well as other leisure regions beyond Pargue, the event aimed to encourage a greater influx of Middle Eastern tourists to explore the wonders of Czechia. The destination presentations were followed by B2B meetings and a networking dinner with travel agents which facilitated dialogues and relationship-building opportunities. The roadshow hosted a delegation comprising of seven partners representing a spectrum of entities, including DMC's, hotels, spa resorts and medical tourism sectors from Czechia. The roadshow attracted over 175 travel agents across Doha, Kuwait City, and Muscat. Notably, travel from the Middle Eastern countries to Czechia has surged significantly, showcasing a year-on-year increase of 20.8% compared to the previous year. In 2024, Czechia warmly welcomed over sixty thousand travellers from the Middle East, involving an average stay duration of 4.20 days.
