Man who died on major road near Irvine pictured by police
Abraham Torrance, 70, from Kilmarnock, passed away following a crash on the A71 westbound between the Corsehillmount Roundabout and Warrix Interchange near Irvine. The incident happened shortly after 11am on Thursday, July 31, and involved a grey Kia Ceed and a white DAF HGV. Emergency crews raced to the area; however, sadly, Mr Torrance, the driver of the car, was pronounced dead at the scene. His family has since asked for privacy. Luckily, no one else was injured during the crash. Man who died in crash between car and lorry on A71 named
A man who died in a crash involving a car and a lorry on the A71 in North Ayrshire has been named by police. Officers were called to the crash, involving a grey Kia Ceed and white DAF HGV, on the westbound carriageway between the Corsehillmount Roundabout and Warrix Interchange around 11am on Thursday, July 31. The driver of the car, Abraham Torrance from Kilmarnock, was pronounced dead at the scene. His family have asked for privacy at this time. The road was closed for investigations and reopened around 4.40pm. Man died after emergency incident on major Ayrshire road
The incident occurred on the A71 in Irvine, between the Corsehillmount Roundabout and Warrix Interchange. Officers raced to the scene where there was a crash involving a grey Kia Ceed and a white DAF HGV, yesterday, July 31. The crash happened around 11.10am and emergency services attended, however, unfortunately, the 70-year-old driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene. They're appealing for anyone with information or dash-cam footage to get in touch with them. A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 11.10am on Thursday, 31 July, 2025, we received a report of a crash involving a grey Kia Ceed and a white DAF HGV on the A71 westbound between the Corsehillmount Roundabout and Warrix Interchange. "Emergency services attended however the 70-year-old male driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene. "The road was closed to allow enquiries to be carried out and re-opened around 4.40pm."
