Lambadas, Adivasis celebrate Int'l Day of Indigenous People together
1 2 Hyderabad: The city celebrated the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples at Komaram Bheemu Adivasi Bhavan at Banjara Hills on Saturday, bringing together Lambadas and Adivasis, including Koyas, Gonds, Chenchus and Kolams, in a showcase of dances, music, and traditional attire. Addressing the gathering, tribal welfare minister Adluri Laxman Kumar said, "Indigenous communities have preserved rich traditions and played a vital role in conserving natural resources. Protecting their rights is our priority." He noted that this year's 17,168 crore allocation under the Scheduled Tribes Special Development Fund (STSDF) is the highest in the state's history, alongside 6,860 crore for the tribal welfare department. Initiatives include issuing clear land titles, expanding solar pump irrigation to FRA lands, and building BT roads to 429 remote tribal habitations. Highlighting educational progress, he said 326 Ashram Schools achieved 100% results, with 127 students qualifying for JEE Mains, 82 for IITs, and 62 for NEET (medical seats). Did not announce Telangana local body poll dates, says Panchayat Raj Min Seethakka
HYDERABAD: Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister D Anasuya, popularly known as Seethakka, clarified that no date has been announced for local body elections. She said the election process will begin only after a Cabinet discussion. Speaking to reporters in Hyderabad, she said: 'I only mentioned that elections will be held soon. Some are falsely claiming I announced the poll dates.' She added that the delay is due to the state's efforts to secure 42% reservations for BCs, which is still pending with the Centre. 'We will discuss how to implement 42% BC reservations in the upcoming elections. Only the Congress is committed to ensuring social justice,' she said. Feud between siblings On the political front, she alleged that BRS working president KT Rama Rao seems eager to go to jail. 'He is provoking the chief minister to arrest him. Investigative agencies will handle the matter,' she said, adding that there appears to be a rivalry between Rama Rao and his sister, MLC K Kavitha, within the BRS.

Free health tests to be provided to poor children: Telangana Minister Seethakka
HYDERABAD: The state government will soon be rolling out a new scheme for children. Women and Child Welfare Minister D Anasuya alias Seethakka has announced that under the new scheme 'Bala Bharosa', the state government will conduct health tests on all children aged between zero and five. After conducting tests, the government will provide free treatment to the children who are in need. The minister, along with Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao, held a video conference with the district collectors on progress of 'Indira Mahila Shakti' programme from the state Secretariat here on Monday. During the conference, she instructed the officials to identify the lands for setting up of solar plants and petrol pumps to be managed by SHG groups, as agreements have already been made for this with companies.

Seethakka chairs review meet
Mancherial: Panchayat Raj and District In-charge Minister D Anasuya (Seethakka) said that the authorities should take collective steps to ensure that the benefits of welfare schemes provided by the government reach everyone who is eligible. On Saturday, at the conference hall of the Integrated District Offices in Naspur, Mancherial, along with the Collectors of Mancherial, Kumrambheem Asifabad, Adilabad, and Nirmal, and others she held a review meeting on Bhu Bharathi, Indiramma Indlu, Yasangi paddy procurement, and Kharif cultivation preparations. Speaking on the occasion, the minister assured that the soaked paddy will be purchased as per the rules and that the farmers need not worry. 'Revenue conferences will be held in all mandals from June 3 to 20 and applications on land issues will be received under Bhu Bharati Act,' she said. The Minister instructed the officials to prepare for Kharif-2025 cultivation, take steps to ensure that seeds and fertilizers are available as required due to the arrival of the southwest monsoon, and take strict action against those who sell them at high prices and create artificial shortages. In view of the commencement of the Academic year on June 12, the Minister suggested that schools and hostels should be prepared, that special attention should be paid to Anganwadi centers and chickpeas be given to adolescent children for nutritional purposes.
