Free health tests to be provided to poor children: Telangana Minister Seethakka
HYDERABAD: The state government will soon be rolling out a new scheme for children.
Women and Child Welfare Minister D Anasuya alias Seethakka has announced that under the new scheme 'Bala Bharosa', the state government will conduct health tests on all children aged between zero and five. After conducting tests, the government will provide free treatment to the children who are in need.
The minister, along with Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao, held a video conference with the district collectors on progress of 'Indira Mahila Shakti' programme from the state Secretariat here on Monday.
During the conference, she instructed the officials to identify the lands for setting up of solar plants and petrol pumps to be managed by SHG groups, as agreements have already been made for this with companies.

Minister prods babus to ensure 24x7 power supply to hospitals
Hyderabad: Health Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha directed the officials to take steps to ensure uninterrupted power supply for supporting emergency medical services in government hospitals. The Minister held a high-level review meeting on power supply in government hospitals at the Secretariat on Wednesday. This meeting was in the backdrop of the reports of recent power outage at the emergency ward of the Government Area Hospital in Zaheerabad. The hospital's incharge was suspended after doctors allegedly used mobile flashlights to treat a patient in view of power outage. Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha directed the officials to take steps to ensure continuous power supply without interruption to emergency medical services in government hospitals. During the meeting, the performance and efficiency of the existing power generation capacity in all government hospitals were discussed. The Minister issued orders to provide automated generators in hospitals where there is no generator facility available, across the state. He instructed the officials to appoint electrical engineers on a temporary basis for power management in hospitals. Further he directed that necessary emergency equipment and supplies for ensuring continuous power supply. The Minister directed the district medical department officials and the electricity department officials to coordinate closely. He also instructed the officials to take preventive measures to eradicate seasonal diseases keeping in mind the monsoon season. The Minister instructed the TGMSIDC officials to purchase Covid test kits and ensure availability of necessary medicines for seasonal diseases such as dengue, malaria, and chicken pox in government hospitals.

Seethakka adds egg biryani to Anganwadi plates
1 2 3 Hyderabad: In a fresh push to transform Telangana's Anganwadi centres, women and child welfare minister Seethakka on Wednesday announced a slew of initiatives, including the bi-weekly introduction of egg biryani into the nutrition menu and the distribution of advanced smartphones to Anganwadi staff. Speaking at a seminar in Hyderabad organised by the department of women and child welfare, Seethakka addressed critical issues affecting pregnant women, lactating mothers, and young children at these grassroots centres. One of her first assurances was that the govt will supply benches to centres where women are still forced to sit on the floor. "We are committed to improving the comfort, nutrition, education, and dignity of our women and children," she said, pledging to eliminate nutritional deficiencies among children and bolster health and learning outcomes at Anganwadi centres. Among the key announcements include: Egg biryani twice a week to boost nutrition and variety in children's meals, modern smartphones for Anganwadi teachers, replacing outdated devices to improve record-keeping and communication, a new school bell system, designed to instil a sense of punctuality and discipline among both children and staff and distribution of 57 types of educational and recreational materials to enhance learning environments. She also announced launch of the 'Amma Mata Anganwadi Bata' drive to increase enrolments and 'Selfie with Anganwadi' to promote visibility and engagement. Seethakka also said that the department will soon fill 14,000 vacancies in Anganwadi centres to reduce workload and improve service delivery. She reiterated the govt's commitment to blacklisting suppliers of substandard materials, especially those dealing in egg supplies, to ensure quality food for children. "The changes won't just be cosmetic. We are working systematically to bring dignity and discipline to Anganwadis across the state," Seethakka said.
