Supreme Court verdict on ED is significant: DK Suresh
Bengaluru: Bamul President and former MP DK Suresh has welcomed the Supreme Court's recent judgment on the Enforcement Directorate (ED), calling it a significant step in the context of the agency's alleged political misuse. Speaking to the media at his Sadashivanagar residence on Tuesday, Suresh stated, 'Yesterday's Supreme Court verdict is very important. This is not the first time the apex court has pulled up the ED for its overreach and conduct. For the past two years, the court has been reprimanding the agency. It is evident that the ED is being used as a political tool by the ruling government at the Centre.' He further cited that even the Madras High Court had criticized ED officials last week in a related case, and that opposition leaders are being targeted in politically motivated raids. 'The Centre must abandon this politics of vengeance and shift focus toward development, youth empowerment, and resolving national issues,' he urged. When asked whether political leaders are being harmed by the ED's actions, Suresh responded, 'In politics, one must be prepared to face everything. But using institutions like ED as a weapon to silence opposition leaders is a dangerous trend. The Supreme Court's verdict has restored some faith in justice.' Referring to D.K. Shivakumar's statement about the cases against him being politically driven, Suresh said, 'Despite the ED cases against us being closed, we continue to face harassment. Letters are being sent to CBI and the Income Tax Department. At every stage, attempts are being made to trap us in new cases. This is not an investigation in search of truth or justice, but rather a calculated effort to target political rivals.' 'SIT formation should not be politicized' Responding to questions about the recent formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) in connection with the Dharmasthala incident, Suresh said that the state has a duty to address public concerns and maintain the sanctity of religious places like Dharmasthala, which is revered by many. 'Some are wrongly portraying this as an anti-Hindu move. It is, in fact, a step taken in the interest of Hindus. If any injustice has occurred, it must be corrected, regardless of who is involved,' he said. Suresh emphasized that no one is being targeted or shielded and that the temple is not the property of any single family. 'If Lord Manjunatha is insulted, it is as though we all are insulted. This must be addressed with the seriousness it deserves, without turning it into a political mudslinging match,' he stated. On BBMP restructuring and urbanisation When asked about the BJP's opposition to the proposal to divide BBMP into five municipal corporations, Suresh said, 'There will always be debates on such matters, but the government will consider all opinions before proceeding.'He also highlighted the need for better civic infrastructure in fast-urbanizing rural areas. 'Many places in my constituency still fall under the Panchayat system despite being functionally urban. Citizens demand proper facilities, but Panchayats are unable to deliver them. Bengaluru has over 1.4 crore people; one commissioner alone cannot manage all affairs. That's why the government is planning administrative reforms to improve governance,' he explained. On CM's & DyCM visit to Delhi Addressing the criticism over Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's Delhi visit, Suresh said, 'Why shouldn't they go? They are meeting party leaders to discuss organizational matters and also holding talks with Union Ministers about pending funds and developmental projects for the state. This is routine and nothing unusual.' When asked about Shivakumar's name not being mentioned at the Mysuru 'Sadhana Samavesha', Suresh dismissed the issue, saying, 'The Chief Minister has already clarified this. There's no point in dragging it further.'

(Also Read: DK Suresh says CM hopes 'still alive' for brother DK Shivakumar amid ongoing buzz) Services on all other sections of Namma Metro, including Challaghatta to Indiranagar, Baiyappanahalli to Whitefield (Kadugodi), and Madavara to Silk Institute, will run as per the regular Sunday schedule starting 7 am. Normal operations on the full Purple Line are expected to resume from 8 am onwards. BMRCL has urged commuters to plan their travel accordingly and expressed regret for the inconvenience. Yellow line update After years of waiting, Bengaluru's much-anticipated Yellow Line—connecting RV Road to Bommasandra—is finally expected to open in early August, according to a report by Deccan Herald. The 19.15-km corridor promises to transform connectivity across the city's southern belt, linking crucial hubs such as Jayadeva Hospital, Silk Board Junction, and Electronics City. The new line will serve as a major boost for daily commuters traveling between residential and tech-heavy zones. Delays in the project were primarily attributed to a shortage of train sets and the need for regulatory clearance of its driverless operations. The Yellow Line uses an automated system that requires Independent Safety Assessment (ISA) certification before commercial services can begin. Currently, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has only three trains designated for the Yellow Line. Once operational, these trains will stop at all 16 stations and are expected to run at 25-minute intervals initially, the Deccan Herald report added. ED questions ex-Congress MP D K Suresh in Aishwarya Gowda case
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) Monday questioned Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar's brother and former MP D K Suresh in a money laundering case against Aishwarya Gowda, who allegedly cheated several people on the pretext of gold business ventures posing as his sister. After appearing before ED officials, D K Suresh said he was summoned because many of Aishwarya Gowda's victims had named him in their statements before the agency, as 'the person had misused my name'. 'They (ED) asked me a few questions to which I have answered. I am supporting the investigation. They have asked me to appear again on July 8, which I will do. I also have mentioned the complaint that I had filed before the Bengaluru city police,' he added, referring to his police complaint accusing Aishwarya Gowda of using false family connections to facilitate fraudulent activities. The Central agency also said it attached properties worth Rs 3.98 crore belonging to Aishwarya Gowda and others in a financial fraud case. 'The attached properties include immovable properties in the form of flats, constructed building and land having value of Rs 2.01 crore and movable properties in the form of cash and vehicle worth Rs 1.97 crore,' ED said in a statement. ED initiated the money-laundering investigation based on multiple FIRs registered at various police stations against Aishwarya Gowda, her husband Harish K N, and others over the allegation that they entered into a criminal conspiracy to defraud and cheat several people by taking gold, cash, and funds from them after promising high returns. The accused have neither returned the money nor given the promised return. Gowda also allegedly threatened the investors with dire consequences if they pursued the matter further, by claiming proximity to various high-profile politicians. ED has searched various locations connected with Aishwarya Gowda and her accomplices, and seized incriminating documents related to money-laundering activities allegedly carried out using movable and immovable properties and other digital devices. Aishwarya Gowda, who is reportedly close to BJP, Congress and JD(S) politicians, is facing charges of cheating and money laundering as she allegedly cheated some rich people in Bengaluru by claiming to be Suresh's sister. The ED also raided Congress MLA Vinay Kulkarni's home recently.

DK Suresh appears before ED in probe linked to woman posing as his sister
Bengaluru: Karnataka Congress leader and former member of Parliament (MP) DK Suresh appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Bengaluru on Monday, in connection with a case involving a woman accused of impersonating his sister and defrauding a local jeweller. DK Suresh (File Photo) ED summoned Suresh after the arrest of Aishwarya Gowda, who is alleged to have used his and his brother and deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar's names to cheat a businessman of nearly ₹ 9.82 crore. Ahead of his appearance, Suresh criticised ED's actions and questioned the agency's jurisdiction. 'Both the Supreme Court and high courts have stated that ED is crossing its limits. If, despite these observations, ED fails to correct its course, it puts the democratic system of the country at risk,' he told reporters. The case against Aishwarya Gowda involves accusations of cheating, impersonation, and laundering proceeds of crime. She was arrested by ED on June 21 under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), after searches at multiple locations in April led to the seizure of documents and nearly ₹ 2.25 crore in cash. According to officials, she had falsely introduced herself as the sister of the two Congress leaders to extract gold and money from a Bengaluru-based jeweller. While Suresh's name surfaced because of the impersonation, he has denied any financial links to the accused. 'There is no financial connection or transaction between that woman and me. I had only attended two programmes, and she met me at my office three or four times to discuss a few matters. But there is nothing related to this case,' he clarified. He further added, 'She resided in the constituency, I met her and attended a couple of programmes with her. There's nothing beyond that. I will provide ED with all the information they seek.' Suresh also claimed his voice may have been mimicked to carry out the alleged fraud. 'It is alleged that my voice was mimicked and crimes were committed using it. The Karnataka police have investigated this and multiple cases have been filed at the police station. I am not aware of the outcome of that investigation.' Maintaining that he would cooperate fully, Suresh said he had arrived at the ED office with his legal counsel. 'I will come to know after the questioning. Their questions will reveal the direction of the investigation. That will also make it clear whether I am connected to the case or not,' he said. He also criticised the agency's motives. 'It is evident that ED is acting as a puppet of the central government. Let me see what they will do.' Responding to the developments, DK Shivakumar defended his brother and questioned the attention the case has received. 'ED has summoned my brother based on someone's statement. People have the right to meet their elected representatives at their offices. He is ready to answer all questions.' Shivakumar also referred to his own experience with ED. 'We are ready to face any investigation. What happened to the ED case that was filed against me? No one came to my rescue, and eventually, I got justice from the judiciary.' Calling out what he described as selective media coverage, he said, 'Why is the media projecting this as such a major development? There are certain stories you never highlight, yet you choose to highlight this.' BJP state president BY Vijayendra and leader of opposition R Ashok didn't respond to calls for a comment on the allegations by Suresh.
