Countdown to Cutdown Rundown: Player Profiles for Jersey No. 99
Countdown to Cutdown Rundown: Player Profiles for Jersey No. 99 - 91 Throughout the 2025 offseason, Cowboys Wire will be running a series of player profiles on the members of the club's 90-man offseason roster. Well, 91-man roster, as the team has one of the NFL's International Pathway Program allotments that allows a franchise to carry an extra player who was born outside of the United States. These profiles will allow fans to have a general idea of a player's background, how they arrived in the league and how they ended up on the Dallas Cowboys' roster, along with the journey that will be ahead of them. For star players, these will look at their accomplishments and for players who are just trying to make either the 53-man roster of 16-man practice squad, it will be a brief look at the fight ahead of them. This piece will serve as a repository for each of those articles, as well as a link to each previous 10-number repository. The Dallas Cowboys' offense will have something new from QB Dak Prescott in 2025
The Dallas Cowboys' offense will have something new from QB Dak Prescott in 2025 "Yeaaahhhh... here we gooooo!" For the last two years, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has made his snap cadence famous, shouting those four words prior to getting the snap. Game observers either loved it (mostly Cowboys fans) or hated it (most non-Cowboys fans). The good news for the haters is Prescott's cadence is going away for the upcoming season. New head coach Brian Schottenheimer delivered the surprising news during his press conference for the team's second week of OTAs that the pre-snap chatter is gone. Prescott and the offense will now have a new cadence before starting each play. The phrase was made popular by Prescott during his MVP-caliber 2023 season, who explained it's true meaning that year. It was a cadence so beloved in area, the local hockey team, the Dallas Stars, adopted it before each power play during home games. However, if it was a good luck saying in 2023, the moniker didn't fare as well with the QB, or the team, last year. A 12-5 season two years ago turned a disaster in 2024, where Prescott had a 3-5 record before his hamstring injury forced him to miss the remainder of the season. It's unclear whether it was Schottenheimer, Prescott or new offensive coordinator Klayton Adams' decision, but it makes sense to make the change. The Cowboys will have a new offense with wrinkles to implement, and using the same cadence no longer fits. It was time for something fresh. The NFL is also a league that catches onto things quickly and perhaps the other 31 teams picked up on something in Prescott that gave away when the snap was coming. There's a new regime in Dallas and they're going in a different direction with the offense, which includes the pre-snap cadence. No matter the reasons, 'here we gooooo' is now gone, baby, gone. Cowboys fans can't wait to hear what Prescott's new cadence will be, and maybe this one will catch on as well. Before it goes away, for your listening pleasure, here's a chance to listen to some more 'yeaaaahhhh here we gooooo's:' Follow Cowboys Wire on Facebook to join in on the conversation with fellow fans!

CeeDee Lamb Reveals Cowboys New Math With George Pickens
FRISCO - Welcome to the Dallas Cowboys' new math, where one plus two equals ... one? For the last two seasons, CeeDee Lamb has painfully been the team's No. 1 receiver. He has 1,700 more yards than the second-most productive target, by far the largest gap in the NFL. Advertisement One of the top priorities this offseason was to find Lamb a No. 2 complement target. And by all accounts, they have failed miserably. Because they have landed another No. 1. Last week vice president Stephen Jones raised eyebrows when he said the Cowboys pulled the bold trade for George Pickens because they considered him as a "No. 1 receiver." But now that Lamb has finally spoken out about the deal, Jones appears to be right. Lamb and Pickens were in Scottsdale, Arizona over the weekend to play in Arizona Cardinals' quarterback Kyler Murray's celebrity softball game, and were in agreement on their roles for 2025. "We both ones," Lamb said. Advertisement Echoed Pickens, "Yeah." Lamb is a four-time Pro Bowl selection who two years ago produced the best receiving season in Cowboys' history with 135 catches for 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns. Pickens has only 12 touchdowns in his three seasons, but in 2023 led the league in yards per reception at more than 18 yards. "It ain't no A/B, none of that," Lamb continued. "You look over there, you see 1. You look over here, you see another 1. So do what you got to do with that." Quarterback Dak Prescott will still likely look to Lamb in crunch time. But it will be fascinating to see how defenses deal with the Cowboys' new math this season. Romo Reveals Love for Pickens Trade to Cowboys
Nearly everyone has given their thoughts on the Dallas Cowboys' trade for George Pickens that sees CeeDee Lamb get a genuine running mate in 2025. And now Tony Romo has given his thoughts. The former Cowboys quarterback, who is no stranger to having a fiery personality on the field, with Dez Bryant and Romo connecting many times throughout the years, likes what the franchise has done this offseason. Advertisement And as far as the trade for Pickens? It's about as good as it gets. "That's a big trade," Romo said via Law Nation Sports. "Having him [Pickens] and CeeDee [Lamb] together is a game changer. If you remember when they had Amari [Cooper] earlier and CeeDee Lamb together, it makes it very difficult to focus on one player when you have two kind of superstars out there. "I feel like when you have two guys like that, it just opens up the offense quite a bit. I think the Cowboys did a great job this offseason. Kudos to the Joneses and what they did. They needed to make up ground on the rest of the [NFC East] division, and they did." Former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver George Pickens.© Geoff Burke-Imagn Images With Pickens in the lineup, now defenses can't shift coverage to blanket Lamb, which they did last year, and 88 still managed to put up over 1,000 yards with one shoulder. Advertisement Now, it is pick your poison. Both Lamb and Pickens are No. 1 receivers, and each can do serious damage when left one-on-one. That might happen a lot more now that Dak Prescott can choose where he goes with the ball. The Dallas offense took off when the trade for Amari Cooper went through, and now, a couple of years later, Prescott again has a star tandem to work with. Some are skeptical of the move due to George's fiery personality and the off-field issues, but this is a dart throw worth taking. And it might be a "game changer" for the Cowboys, who desperately need to put the 2024 season in the rearview mirror. And George helps do that.
