Miami Hurricanes Offense Preview 2025: Can Carson Beck Keep the Attack Elite?

X CFN, Fiu | CFN Facebook | Bluesky Fiu, CFN 2025 Miami Preview Miami Offense BreakdownMiami Defense Breakdown Prediction, Top 10 Players, Win Total, Keys to Season - The entire point of the offense is to score … points. Duh. No one did it better last year than Miami, finishing No. 1 in the nation in total and scoring offense, first in third down conversions, and third in passing. There might be a few big replacements, but Miami is now one of those destination schools again for top talents like … - Carson Beck was a fantastic get. There were moments when the former Georgia quarterback was seriously considered a No. 1 overall draft pick talent. He had a weird year, got hurt in the SEC Championship, and now his elbow is should be fine well before the season, and if he's not ready, Emory Jones should be able to handle the work for a while. The O needs Beck to be great, though. - The top six pass catchers - including RB Damien Martinez and TE Elijah Arroyo - are gone to the NFL, or in the case of second-leading yardage guy Jacolby George, Alabama. The Hurricanes did some work of their own in the transfer portal, getting CJ Daniels (LSU) for the inside and Keelan Marion (BYU) and Tony Johnson (Cincinnati) to reload the position. Joshisa Trader and Ray Ray Joseph are veterans who can will be missed, but Elija Lofton might be even more explosive. He averaged close to 17 yards per grab at tight end, and Alex Bauman will be a factor after making 55 catches with 12 scores over the last two years at Tulane. - You don't play on a Mario Cristobal line unless you can block at a whole other level. Francis Mauigoa has top five overall draft pick talent at right tackle, and he's not alone among the transfer James Brockermyer is an instant fit at center, Anez Cooper is an all-star guard, and the spots on the left side should be terrific with Markel Bell ready to take on a full-time role at tackle and a rotation likely in fall camp for the guard gig.- Damien Martinez is off to the Seahawks after a 1,002-yard, ten touchdown season, but Mark Fletcher and Jordan Lyle combined for over 1,000 yards with 13 scores. 2025 NFL Draft: The Dallas Cowboys should look for their next workhorse — and it should be Damien Martinez

2025 NFL Draft: The Dallas Cowboys should look for their next workhorse — and it should be Damien Martinez (This article was written with the assistance of Castmagic, an AI tool, and reviewed by our editorial team to ensure accuracy. Every NFL Draft season, fantasy managers hope to spot the perfect rookie/team matchup — the landing spot that unlocks not only a prospect's talent but also explosive fantasy potential. On the latest Yahoo Fantasy Forecast's special wishcasting episode, Matt Harmon and Andy Behrens brought up one match that should make the fantasy world perk up: Miami's Damien Martinez to the Dallas Cowboys. Let's break down why this partnership is such a compelling fit, drawing directly from the sharp analysis of their conversation. This embedded content is not available in your region. Subscribe to Yahoo Fantasy Forecast on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube or wherever you listen. Harmon was the first to call it, sending Martinez to the Cowboys and emphasizing that he's exactly the type of back Dallas needs: 'He is a really interesting running back prospect … big dude, can bang it between the tackles, but also I think has some big-play ability.' Now more than ever, Dallas is desperate for competence — if not excellence — at running back. Their current depth chart, as Matt remarked, is clouded with uncertainty and uninspiring committee bets. Martinez's ability to step in as a bell-cow right away could fill a void left since Tony Pollard's departure. Behrens echoed the sentiment, lauding Martinez's profile: 'He has been successful and efficient in multiple systems in college. He can just detonate tacklers at the end of a run … has so many plays on tape where he just disappears from view for a little while … because he's dragging a cloud of defenders for the final like seven or eight yards of a play.' The beauty of the fit, both Andy and Matt argue, goes beyond just landing on a team with running back touches available. Dallas is built to pound the rock: its offensive line remains one of the NFL's better units, especially if young pieces like Tyler Guyton and Cooper Beebe develop, and Tyler Smith is already a force inside. Martinez offers the ability to not only run effectively behind this line but also flex between power and splash plays. Put simply: Martinez wouldn't just be a Band-Aid. He could emerge as the engine for Dallas' ground game — an immediate volume play with double-digit touchdown upside. Harmon and Behrens both agreed Martinez would be a hot commodity in fantasy football drafts if this pairing comes true. And for three good reasons: Volume: Dallas loves a true lead running back. With limited backfield competition and a good O-line, Martinez could easily see 15-20 touches a week. Goal-line upside: His finishing ability at the end of runs and Dallas' willingness to feed one back at the stripe means TDs are on the table. Role security: Neither expert is impressed with the current Cowboys RBs — Martinez could take the ball and run from Week 1. If Jerry Jones and co. decide Martinez is 'their guy,' he'd fly up rookie fantasy draft boards. The Cowboys have a national spotlight, a history of feeding their RB1 and an offense that reliably produces RB1 finishes for fantasy. Martinez in Big D would be an immediate **RB2 with RB1 upside** in redraft, and a top 5-7 rookie in dynasty formats. Andy and Matt see Martinez as the hammer Dallas needs to keep its offense moving. It's a high-floor, high-ceiling union. If the Cowboys call his name, get ready to bump him way up your fantasy football cheat sheets — he'd be poised to deliver from Day 1. Dallas fans, fantasy managers, be on the lookout during the draft. This is the sleeper landing spot that could change your championship plans.

Seahawks get an "A" grade from PFF for 2025 NFL draft The Seattle Seahawks just came off an incredibly successful 2025 NFL draft. They addressed several areas of need, and managed to get tremendous value for many of their selections. But don't just take my word for it, other media outlets around the league are taking notice of what Seattle did as well. Take for example PFF. They just gave the Seahawks an "A" grade for their draft haul. While it should be noted Seattle's division rivals, the Arizona Cardinals, were among the three teams who received an "A+," the Seahawks are still doing considerably better than the San Francisco 49ers who were among the worst in the league according to PFF as they received a "D" grade. Seattle managed to make the most out of their 10 picks going into the draft, and even managed to turn them into 11 players selected. We won't inundate you, dear reader, with every analysis piece PFF gave for all of the Seahawks' new rookies. But we did want to highlight some of the more notable picks: Grey Zabel: Zabel, a versatile blocker who can play all five positions, earned a 93.1 PFF pass-blocking grade over the past two seasons. He will likely join a Seahawks interior offensive line that ranked 29th in PFF pass-blocking grade (52.3) and 24th in PFF run-blocking grade (60.1) in 2024. Nick Emmanwori: Emmanwori certainly has areas of his game that will need to improve in the NFL, but a 6-foot-3, 220-plus pound safety with sub-4.4 speed and a 43-inch vertical was only going to slide so far. He's coming off the best season of his collegiate career in coverage, grading out in the 89th percentile at safety in box coverage grade. His fit in the Mike Macdonald defense is intriguing as part of a secondary that has a lot of young talent. Jalen Milroe: Despite signing Sam Darnold in free agency, the Seahawks couldn't pass up the opportunity to draft a quarterback with incredible physical tools. Milroe earned an 87.0-plus PFF overall grade over the past two seasons at Alabama. He has one of the strongest arms in the class but struggles with accuracy, giving him room to further develop. Damien Martinez: We had Damien Martinez ranked No. 80 on the PFF Big Board, making his selection by the Seahawks at pick No. 223 an incredible value. Martinez is a big back, standing 6 feet and weighing 232 pounds. He has been extremely productive over his three years at Oregon State and Miami, with a career-low rushing grade of 88.1. To see the rest of PFF's analysis, please click here. An exciting new era of Seahawks football is around the corner, and the 2025 draft class will be on the forefront of this next generation. It's exciting to know this team is building something special, and even better knowing it isn't just getting noticed in the Pacific Northwest alone.

Seahawks draft Miami RB Damien Martinez at No. 223 overall

Seahawks draft Miami RB Damien Martinez at No. 223 overall The Seattle Seahawks are sending a message loud and clear for 2025: they want to run the ball. The latest piece of evidence in defense of this claim is the fact they drafted Miami running back Damien Martinez in the 7th round at pick No. 223 overall. Martinez joins former teammate Elijah Arroyo as the 2nd Hurricane standout picked by the Seahawks this weekend. At 6-foot-0 tall and 217 lbs., Martinez is a bruiser. A three-year starter between Oregon State (where he was the Pac-12 Offensive Freshman of the year in 2022, and first team All-Pac-12 in 2022 and 2023) and Miami, Martinez rushed for 3,169 yards and 26 touchdowns at the collegiate level. He never had less than 982 yards on the ground in any given year, and that was his freshman season. Martinez played in all 13 games for the Hurricanes last season, and started 10 of them. He earned Honorable Mention All-ACC honors for his 1,002 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns - a career best. Martinez is now thrown in the mix alongside Kenneth Walker III, Zach Charbonnet, Kenny McIntosh and George Holani. It is going to be an internal dogfight just to get carries on this Seattle roster in 2025. Here is what Martinez' official NFL draft profile has to say:

Miami Hurricanes running back Damien Martinez drafted by Seahawks in seventh round

In three seasons of college football — first at Oregon State and then the University of Miami — Damien Martinez proved to be a steady, physical running back who is also capable of breaking off big plays. He'll now see if he can replicate that success in the NFL. The Seattle Seahawks selected Martinez in the seventh round, No. 223 overall, on Friday/Saturday. He is the first Hurricanes running back to be drafted since DeeJay Dallas was picked in the fourth round of the 2020 draft. Over three seasons of college football, Martinez ran for 3,169 yards and 26 touchdowns. In his lone season with the Hurricanes, Martinez's rushed for 1,002 yards and 10 touchdowns while splitting time with Mark Fletcher Jr. He's the first UM player to hit both 1,000 rushing yards and 10 rushing touchdowns in the same season since Mark Walton in 2016. He capped his Hurricanes career with a monster performance in the Pop-Tarts Bowl, rushing for a career-high 179 yards on 14 carries in the 42-41 Miami loss to Iowa State. ESPN ranked Martinez as the No. 12 running back in the draft class. 'Martinez is an efficient north-south runner between the tackles,' ESPN's Steve Muench wrote in his pre-draft scouting report. 'He's a big and powerful back who runs through and over defenders. He pushes the pile when he doesn't get a seam. Martinez moves well enough laterally to make defenders miss and bounce outside. His pass blocking improved over the course of the 2024 season, and he has the frame to continue to get better in that area.'
