Kenny McIntosh injury places pressure on Seahawks rookie RB
McIntosh will soon undergo season-ending surgery. He won't make the Seahawks' 53-man roster as a result. With the RB3 spot now wide open behind Kenneth Walker III and Zach Charbonnet, rookie running back Damien Martinez will feel pressure to fill that role.
McIntosh was upgraded to second-string back when Walker missed time with injury last campaign. A seventh-round selection in 2023, McIntosh had seven carries in three separate contests last season. That responsibility could belong to Martinez in 2025.
McIntosh was also a core special teamer in 2024. The former Georgia standout played 173 snaps on special teams, eighth-most on the team. If Martinez wants to be active weekly, he'll have to prove capable of filling that void on special teams.
Sophomore running back George Holani and rookie undrafted free agent Jacardia Wright are also on the roster. Neither ball-carrier is expected to make the 53-man roster, though their pathway just got a little clearer with McIntosh's injury. The Seahawks drafted Martinez with a future role in mind, but McIntosh's injury just accelerated the timeline.

Skylar Diggins has another triple-double and Storm defeat Sun 101-85
UNCASVILLE, Conn. (AP) — Skylar Diggins had a triple-double, Nneka Ogwumike scored 26 points and the Seattle Storm blew past the Connecticut Sun 101-85 on Monday night. Nine days after recording the first triple-double in WNBA All-Star Game history, Diggins did it again with 11 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists against the Sun. Seattle led 57-46 at halftime, then Ogwumike had nine points and Diggins scored four as the Storm added 13 points in the first three minutes of the third quarter. Seattle's 86.7% shooting in the third quarter was a franchise record for any quarter. The Storm cooled down in the fourth quarter, scoring 14 points. They finally reached the 100-point mark when Zia Cooke hit a jumper with nine seconds left. Williams scored 16 points, Dominique Malonga had 12 and Ezi Magbegor 10 for Seattle (16-11). Bria Hartley scored 17 and Tina Charles added 11 for Connecticut (4-21). Jacy Sheldon scored 11 off the bench and Olivia Nelson-Ododa had 10. The Storm's 57 first-half points were one less than they managed in a 69-58 loss to Washington on Saturday. Seattle has alternated wins and losses for eight straight games since defeating Eastern Conference leader New York 79-70 on July 6. KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Kansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez was hit by a pitch in the left elbow and taken out of Monday night's against the Atlanta Braves. Perez was hit in the third inning by a 94 mph fastball from Spencer Strider. He remained in the game until the fifth, when he was replaced by Freddy Fermin. Hall of Fame second baseman Ryne Sandberg has died after battling cancer
CHICAGO (AP) — Ryne Sandberg, a Hall of Fame second baseman who became one of baseball's best all-around players while starring for the Chicago Cubs, has died. He was 65. Sandberg was surrounded by his family when he died at his home on Monday, according to the team. Sandberg announced in January 2024 that he had been diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer. He had chemotherapy and radiation treatments, and then said in August 2024 that he was cancer-free. But he posted on Instagram on Dec. 10 that his cancer had returned and spread to other organs.
