Way-too-early Seahawks 53-man roster projection: offense
The Seattle Seahawks will begin their first of nine Organized Team Activities (OTA) practices on Tuesday. Though this portion of the offseason remains voluntary, roster battles will begin taking shape. With the Seahawks officially on the practice field, we've delivered our way-too-early 53-man roster projection for the offense. Quarterbacks (3): Sam Darnold, Drew Lock, Jalen Milroe The Seahawks are one of few teams that should carry three quarterbacks. They signed Drew Lock to be the veteran backup to Sam Darnold. Rookie third-round pick Jalen Milroe will be afforded an opportunity to slowly develop behind the scenes. Running backs (4): Kenneth Walker III, Zach Charbonnet, Robbie Ouzts, Damien Martinez The need for a fullback in Klint Kubiak's offense will probably prevent the Seahawks from keeping more than three natural running backs. Damien Martinez, Kenny McIntosh, and George Holani will compete for one spot. Rookie fifth-rounder Robbie Ouzts is the favorite to be the fullback. Wide receivers (6): Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Cooper Kupp, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Tory Horton, Jake Bobo, Ricky White III The Seahawks could go even lighter here with five wide receivers. If so, Jake Bobo and rookie draft-pick Ricky White III would compete with a slew of back-end players for the final gig. Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Cooper Kupp are expected to do heavy lifting at wide receiver. Tight ends (3): Noah Fant, Elijah Arroyo, AJ Barner Noah Fant, Elijah Arroyo, and AJ Barner project as a solid trio at tight end. Brady Russell is converting to fullback and will battle Ouzts for the backfield blocking role. Fant, Arroyo, and Barner should make-up a high quality TE room in Seattle. Offensive line (9): Charles Cross, Grey Zabel, Olu Oluwatimi, Christian Haynes, Abraham Lucas, Josh Jones, Jalen Sundell, Bryce Cabeldue, Mason Richman There's plenty of competition for offensive line spots. This projection leaves guards Anthony Bradford and Sataoa Laumea off the roster. That means both rookies, Mason Richman and Bryce Cabeldue, make it. Veteran free-agent addition Josh Jones is the swing tackle in this scenario. This article originally appeared on Seahawks Wire: Seahawks 53-man roster: Way-too-early projected offense

Seahawks select guard Grey Zabel at pick No. 18 overall
With the No. 18 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft, the Seattle Seahawks selected the versatile guard/center Grey Zabel from North Dakota State. Hardly the most surprising pick, as many mock drafts - including three on Wednesday - had the Seahawks selecting Zabel. ESPN's Matt Miller went as far as to suggest Seattle's decision in the first round came down to either Grey Zabel or Arizona's Tetairoa McMillan. With McMillan going No. 8 overall to the Carolina Panthers, it left only Zabel for the Seahawks. Given how crucial it is for Seattle to improve their interior offensive line, selecting Grey Zabel (one of the top prospects in this draft) was a move the 12th Man can rejoice with. Zabel won two FCS National Championships with the Bison and declined lofty NIL offers to leave Fargo. Instead, he remained with NDSU. Now, he is headed from the great plains to the Pacific Northwest. Advertisement Seattle was reportedly interested in trading down, which is something they are prone to do. Clearly, they did not get an offer they were looking for. Not one to convince them to move off selecting Zabel. We at Seahawks Wire will continue to update for any further action Seattle may take during the rest of the first round. As of this moment, they are not slated to make any more picks. This article originally appeared on Seahawks Wire: Seahawks select guard Grey Zabel at pick No. 18 overall

Pete Carroll officially introduced as Raiders new head coach
One of the biggest stories this offseason already has been the return of former Seattle Seahawks head coach to the NFL, Pete Carroll. Last week, Carroll was announced as the next head coach for the Las Vegas Raiders. The 73-year-old had been out of football for a year but now he is back and ready for perhaps his greatest challenge yet. On Monday, Carroll was officially introduced by the franchise as their next head coach. I must admit, it is a little odd to see Carroll in black and silver. Someone yelled "RAIDERSSSSS" during Pete Carroll's press conference... "Hey Mark, settle down a little bit" 🤣 — NFL on CBS 🏈 (@NFLonCBS) January 27, 2025 Naturally, there was a familiar face at the introductory press conference... Speculation about what Carroll can and will do for the Raiders is sure to begin immediately, if it hasn't already. The biggest question of course is what will Carroll do at quarterback? Of course, one option folks seem to pointing at as a logical choice would be Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith, assuming some sort of extension could not be worked out. Smith has already shared cryptic images of him with Carroll on his social media in relation to the news of his hiring. Whatever may be the case, Seahawks Wire will have you covered on all things related to this story. Could Pete Carroll trade for Geno Smith?
