Supergirl Cast Reveal: Jason Momoa Joins As Lobo In Milly Alcock-led Film
Last Updated: Just days after releasing the first poster of Supergirl, the makers have revealed the list of some key stars who will appear in the film. Following the release of David Corenswet-led Superman, the revamped DC Universe (DCU) is gearing up for the release of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. Directed by Craig Gillespie and written by Ana Nogueira, the film is set to hit the theatres next year. Just days after releasing the first poster of Supergirl, the makers have now revealed the list of a few key stars who will appear in the second instalment of the DCU. It has already been confirmed that Milly Alcock of House of the Dragon and Sirens fame is set to play the titular character, Kara Zor-El / Supergirl. The cousin of Kal-El, also known as Superman, she made a special appearance towards the end of the James Gunn-directed film, offering a glimpse of what to expect from her character. She was raised on the destroyed planet Krypton, where everyone around her died at a very young age. Previously, DCU co-head James Gunn told ScreenRant that Supergirl will be a 'total mess" in the film and discussed that they will be telling the emotional backstory of the character. According to Just Jared, the very young Eve Ridley will portray Ruthye Marye Knoll, who is a noble and honourable young warrior. She will travel across the galaxy with Supergirl with her personal mission of hunting down Krem, who is responsible for killing her father. The film's main antagonist, Krem of the Yellow Hills, will be played by Matthias Schoenaerts. As the Supergirl film will give a glimpse into her past life, it will also feature her parents. David Krumholtz will play Supergirl's father, whereas Emily Beecham will portray the role of Supergirl's mother. Meanwhile, actor Jason Momoa has been roped in for a cameo as Lobo, who is an alien mercenary and bounty hunter from the utopian planet of Czarnia. The 45-year-old actor has previously expressed his desire to play the character. In a chat with Fandango, he said, 'If they call me and ask me to play him, it's a f–k yeah…it's the perfect role." There are also reports claiming that David Corenswet might make a cameo in Supergirl, but nothing has been confirmed yet. Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, whose filming reportedly wrapped up recently, with shooting taking place in Iceland and England, is scheduled for release in theatres on June 26, 2026. The official synopsis of the film reads: 'Supergirl travels across the galaxy to celebrate her 21st birthday with Krypto the Superdog. Along the way, she meets a young woman named Ruthye and winds up on a murderous quest for revenge." First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Superman box office collection Day 4: James Gunn's superhero flick sees sharp drop on Monday; collects Rs 2.25 crore
After a promising opening weekend, James Gunn 's Superman witnessed a sharp dip in box office earnings on its first Monday in India. According to early estimates from trade portal Sacnilk, the film earned an estimated Rs 2.25 crore on Day 4, bringing its total India net collection to approximately Rs 28.25 crore. The David Corenswet-led superhero reboot had a strong start, collecting Rs 7.25 crore on Day 1 (Friday) and picking up pace with Rs 9.5 crore on Saturday (Day 2). Sunday saw a slight dip but still delivered solid numbers with Rs 9.25 crore, capping off a successful opening weekend with Rs 26 crore net. Monday's dramatic fall in numbers, a nearly 75% drop from Sunday, reflects the typical weekday slowdown. The Hindi dubbed version of Superman has contributed an estimated Rs 5.22 crore so far, while the English version continues to lead collections with approximately Rs 17.92 crore. The remaining earnings have trickled in from Tamil and Telugu versions. Despite the Monday slump, Superman remains one of the better-performing Hollywood releases of the year in India, though it still trails behind Jurassic World Rebirth, which recently crossed the Rs 76 crore mark. Internationally, the film has been a major force at the box office. It opened to a stellar $122 million in North America, while collecting an additional $95 million from 78 international markets, including $6.6 million from China. With the weekdays ahead, and no new major release this weekend, the film can look forward to crossing the Rs 50 crore mark in the days ahead. Superman also stars Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, and Nathan Fillion , Isabela Merced , and Edi Gathegi in supporting roles.
