‘I'm a fragrance expert and these are the best men's perfumes for Father's Day'
Our beauty and wellness editor has sniffed out the best men's scents to buy to put a smile on his face this Father's Day, including Hugo Boss, Davidoff and Dolce & Gabbana With Father's Day 2025 just a few weeks away, if you're still looking for one of the best gifts for men to treat him to this year then a fragrance is always a good bet. I've tried loads of new launches and these are the ones that I think are worth the money, whether he prefers strong and intense scents or lighter, fresher fragrances; in fact, even if you aren't sure about his olfactory opinions, I don't think you can go wrong with this selection below. From Hugo Boss and Dolce&Gabbana to Davidoff and Barbour, here are some great men's scents that you can still buy in time for Father's Day... Best men's fragrances for Father's Day 2025 Dolce&Gabbana Devotion For Men Eau de Parfum Currently from £66.40 for 50ml from Debenhams (usual price £83) The fashion house goes well and truly back to its Mediterranean roots with this sultry scent. Inspired by the Sicilian tradition of adding a twist of lemon to your daily espresso as you sit in a sunlit town square watching the world go by, it balances rich and spicy coffee notes with zesty citruses and earthy patchouli. Davidoff Cool Elixir Parfum Currently from £33.60 for 30ml from Debenhams (usual price £42) An intense new twist on a classic, this parfum gives Davidoff's trademark oceanic notes a decidedly more exotic spin with notes of lavandin and rose oxide, plus a rich oud base. Don't let these floral-sounding ingredients confuse you; this is a take on the 'fougère' fragrance family, traditionally men's scents, and one that's full of character. Hugo Boss BOSS Bottled Absolu Parfum Intense for Men Currently £63.07 for 50ml from Sephora (usual price £77) The BOSS Bottled perfumes are great failsafe options if you're not sure of your recipient's exact olfactory tastes and, as its name suggests, this one is the strongest and most long-lasting of the lot, with the highest concentration of its key notes of leather, incense, patchouli and cedarwood. Rich and warm yet with universal appeal, it's guaranteed to delight. VIVO by Cerruti 1881 Eau de Parfum Currently from £51.20 for 60ml from Debenhams (usual price £64) This bottle from Parisian fashion house Cerruti 1881 looks like something from the Da Vinci Code, and you even need to complete a little puzzle to open it (the 'V' needs to be lined up with the '1881' to open the lid). Meaning 'alive', inside you're rewarded with an energetic and youthful scent, with hints of ginger, apple, sesame and saffron. MESSI Eau De Parfum £55 for 100ml from The Fragrance Shop Want to know what, arguably, the greatest footballer of all time smells like? Apparently it's a combination of fresh cardamom, wild cypress, leather (leather football boots, perhaps…?) and vanilla bean, if the soccer superstar's new fragrance is any indication. Like the great man himself, it's subtle and understated, a great gym bag option or everyday spritz. Barbour Coastal For Him Intense Eau De Parfum £90 for 100ml from The Fragrance Shop Barbour's classic country gent has taken a bracing walk along the blustery British coastline – the rugged Northumberland coast, to be specific – to inspire this fragrance, with refreshing notes of bergamot, pink pepper and clary sage to blow away the cobwebs, combined with sea-sprayed marine accords, washed up sandalwood and a comforting warmth from tonka. Rabanne Million Gold Elixir Eau De Parfum From £85 for 50ml from Boots Shopping for a dad with expensive tastes? An actual gold bar might be out of the question, but this new Rabanne EDP is the olfactory equivalent. Sensual, confident and opulent, it's centred around vanilla – an unusual find in men's scents – which gives it a warm decadence. Combined with zingy bergamot and spicy cardamom, it's a confidence boost with every spritz. Issey Mayake L'Eau d'Issey Pour Homme Eau de Parfum Currently from £51.20 for 40ml from Debenhams (usual price £64) No one does aquatic fragrances quite as well as Issey Mayake, and this newest, intense iteration is inspired by the mysterious ocean depths. Sichuan pepper wakes up your senses upon first sniff like a splash of water to the face, complemented by invigorating notes of lemon and balsam fir, and a base of cedarwood. It's elegant freshness in a bottle.

NYC lawyer wants hefty payout after United Airlines canceled his flight, then allegedly lied about the reason
An NYC lawyer wants United Airlines to pay him $65,000 for leaving him 'stranded' at Newark Airport. The airline at first blamed mechanical issues, then weather, for canceling the June 28, 2023 flight from Newark to San Francisco, Jonathan Davidoff claimed in a lawsuit. But the weather was clear when Davidoff, 52 — who said he has flown more than two million miles with United — arrived to catch Flight 2032 for the journey to California to attend to Wineosaurus, a small wine business he owns, he said. Advertisement 3 Davidoff ultimately canceled his trip. Davidoff Lawfirm United 'understaffs the airline so that it does not have enough employees to operate all of the flights [it] schedules,' he said in the Manhattan Supreme Court lawsuit in which he's acting as his own lawyer. The company then 'cherry picks flights to cancel when it does not have sufficient staffing to operate all of the flights it schedules and sells tickets for,' he continued, slamming United for its allegedly 'unfair business practices.' Advertisement Davidoff, who also intended to travel to Las Vegas and ultimately canceled the trip, alleged he was refunded the cost of the ticket but not given any compensation and decided to sue 'after exhausting my efforts with United and my claim with Department of Transportation received no response. 3 United declined comment on the allegations. REUTERS 3 Davidoff claimed United falsely told him the flight was canceled due to bad weather. Getty Images Advertisement 'I think United can do a lot more. It is the false information and the lack of acceptance of responsibility that is problematic,' he told The Post. 'United penalizes its customers when they need to change flights or have extra luggage, but does not want to be penalized when it does something wrong.' United declined comment.

Imperial Brands CEO departure spooks market, CFO to take reins
HighlightsStefan Bomhard, the CEO of Imperial Brands, announced his retirement after five years, leading to a more than 7 percent drop in the company's shares as investors reacted negatively to the unexpected news. Lukas Paravicini, the Chief Financial Officer, will succeed Bomhard as CEO on October 1, and is expected to continue the company's growth strategy targeting up to 5 percent annual profit growth until 2030. Under Bomhard's leadership, Imperial Brands experienced a significant turnaround, restoring market share and achieving nearly 90 percent share price growth during his tenure, despite challenges in expanding smoking alternatives. Imperial Brands said CEO Stefan Bomhard will retire after five years in the job, sending the British cigarette maker's shares down more than 7 per cent as investors lamented the unexpected loss of a leader credited with turning its performance around. Under Bomhard, the maker of Winston, Davidoff and Gauloises cigarettes has enjoyed a rebound in sales and returns as it focused on core markets and its tobacco business , while also looking to expand in smoking alternatives . Finance chief Lukas Paravicini will take over as CEO on October 1 and will be tasked with driving that growth strategy forward as the company targets up to 5 per cent annual profit growth until 2030. Shares in the company, which also owns e-cigarette brand blu, nicotine pouch brand Zone and heated tobacco device Pulze, were trading 7.9% lower at 0930 GMT on Wednesday, having gained nearly 90% during Bomhard's tenure. Prior to Bomhard's arrival Imperial had lost market share in its core tobacco business and failed to gain any real traction with new products like vapes, resulting in years of missed sales targets and a 2020 write-down. Bomhard restored that market share, sales growth and healthy investor returns by retreating to focus on traditional tobacco in Imperial's key markets. He also fine-tuned the company's strategy on smoking alternatives - a portfolio which delivered double-digit growth in the first half of this year. "There is no doubting the disappointment in Stefan Bomhard announcing his retirement... after an exceptional five-year run," Panmure Liberum analyst Rae Maile said in a note. While the departure of such a well-regarded CEO after a strong run always causes investor concern, CFO Paravicini's appointment as Bomhard's successor should give shareholders confidence, Barclays analyst Gaurav Jain said. CONTINUITY Paravicini told investors on an analysts' call he was committed to Imperial's five-year strategy set out in March and a capital allocation framework based around healthy returns for shareholders. Under that strategy, Paravicini is tasked with stepping up growth in smoking alternatives, where Imperial lags competitors, and compounding progress on tobacco in difficult markets like Germany, where Imperial has struggled to regain lost share amid stiff competition. Bomhard portrayed his departure as "a very personal decision" related to freeing up personal time for himself and his family after 11 years leading large UK companies. He was previously CEO of car distributor Inchcape and held senior roles at Unilever and Bacardi. Bomhard will remain on the board until December 31 and will be available until May 2026 to support the transition. Imperial Brands' Chief Strategy and Development Officer Murray McGowan will replace Paravicini as CFO. The company also reported a 1.8 per cent rise in first-half adjusted operating profit at constant currency, just shy of analysts' estimates of 2%, and reaffirmed its annual forecast.

The best rooftop bars in Paris for 2025
Following a 2023 renovation, this legendary restaurant – originally opened in the 16th century (yes, really) – now boasts a rooftop for the very first time. Surrounded by planters and seated at marble-topped tables, you'll get an eyeful of the Seine, Île de la Cité, and a sea of zinc rooftops from which the Eiffel Tower rises like a beacon. Stunning stuff. To drink? There's a lavish list of champagnes priced like you're in Monaco (Cristal Louis Roederer 2015 is €98 a glass!) or three cocktails, each a clever twist on a classic. To go full Parisian dandy, you can even treat yourself to a Davidoff cigar (€43). Heads up: you'll need a reservation to access this golden rooftop perch.
