At the prestigious film event, she talked about Bollywood and said that it is changing for the better. She shared that the old ideas about women in the film industry are fading, and now, actresses of all ages are getting strong lead roles. She called it a positive and much-needed change. During a panel discussion called Women in Cinema, hosted by Deadline Hollywood and the Red Sea Film Foundation at the 78th Cannes Film Festival, Jacqueline spoke about how things are changing for women in Bollywood. She said the industry is moving in a better direction, with more strong and meaningful roles now being written for women. 'In India and in Bollywood, there has been an amazing change where it's not anymore about fitting a cookie-cutter stereotype of what it means to be an actress and how you could fit in a role. And these are the roles that you can be given if you are a certain age or if you look a certain way. That's changed a lot in India," Jacqueline said. The actress added, 'Women of all age groups are getting fantastic roles. They are getting fantastic female lead protagonist roles. There are stories being made for them. So now, the variety has all of a sudden exploded. Everyone is getting an opportunity. There is no more a shelf life. There is, of course, a lot of us who go through that; it is how do we stay relevant all the time as you get older? But there are a lot of people and a lot of amazing actresses out there who are breaking that and who are working towards that". Jacqueline Fernandez said that women in cinema are now showing others that they can follow their passion and dreams without limits. She believes the best thing about cinema is that anyone, no matter their race, religion, gender, or age, can share their story. Jacqueline is happy that actors today have more freedom to tell these stories in their own way. On the work front, Jacqueline Fernandez will next be seen in Housefull 5. Directed by Tarun Mansukhani and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, the film has a star-studded starcast including Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, Sonam Bajwa, Nargis Fakhri, Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff, Nana Patekar, Chitrangada Singh, Fardeen Khan, Chunky Pandey, Johnny Lever, Shreyas Talpade, Dino Morea, Ranjeet, Soundarya Sharma, Nikitin Dheer, and Akashdeep Sabir.
