Rachael Leigh Cook is aging like a fine wine!
The beloved actress, 45, who rose to superstardom in the classic 1999 film She's All That, hit the red carpet (okay, purple carpet) earlier this week at the premiere of Freakier Friday, and looked just as stunning as she did over 25 years ago.
Wearing a beautiful sleeveless orange gown by Leo Lin covered in flowers, the brunette beauty stopped and posed for the cameras at the premiere of the film, which reunited Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis.
In the caption of her Instagram photo series from the premiere, Cook shared a variety of sweet photos, including several with her two children, Charlotte and Theodore.
"Any day I get to see @whatsupdanny is a good day, so I had the very best time at the #FreakierFriday Premiere! The kids and I are big fans of the original and naturally had measured expectations, but this iteration delivered and then some, @disney does it again. Go!! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️," she wrote in the caption.

Naturally, fans and friends went wild for Cook's look.
"Love it! AND THAT DRESS😍," one commenter shared.
"My eyes, I can not see! I am blinded by such beauty!" another commented.
When it comes to Cook's former costars, one iconic one she will be reuniting with is Freddie Prinze Jr., who recently shared how thrilled he is to get to act with his old friend in the upcoming holiday film The Christmas Affair.
"I'm really excited to film with her again," he told Deadline Hollywood at the red carpet premiere of I Know What You Did Last Summer. "I love her to death, she's like a sister to me. I know her kids, she knows my kids. We've been close ever since that first movie, and I don't know why it's taken us this long to work together again but it did."

Sydney Sweeney's Brother Breaks Silence on American Eagle Jeans Ad

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Sydney Sweeney's brother has broken his silence on her controversial American Eagle jeans ad. Newsweek reached out to Sweeney's representative for comment on Friday via email and Trent Sweeney via Instagram outside regular working hours. Why It Matters Sweeney—who rose to fame on Euphoria and The White Lotus—has been making headlines recently following the release of her commercial titled "Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans." "Genes are passed down from parents to offspring, often determining traits like hair color, personality and even eye color," she says in the ad. "My jeans are blue." The line sparked a heated online debate about eugenics and racism, with some critics labeling it "Nazi propaganda." Others, however, pushed back against the uproar, arguing that the use of "jeans" and "genes" was nothing more than wordplay and creative marketing. According to Merriam-Webster, "Eugenics" is "the practice or advocacy of controlled selective breeding of human populations (as by sterilization) to improve the populations' genetic composition." Over the weekend, Newsweek and other outlets confirmed that Sweeney is registered as a Republican in Florida, prompting conservatives like President Donald Trump and Fox News host Jesse Watters to associate the actress with right-wing politics. However, she has not spoken out about her political affiliation. Sydney Sweeney (R) and brother Trent Sweeney attend the European premiere of "Echo Valley" at BFI Southbank on June 10, 2025 in London, Apple TV+ What To Know On Wednesday, Sweeney's brother, Trent Sweeney—who serves in the U.S. Air Force—took to his Instagram Stories to celebrate his promotion to staff sergeant. Alongside a photo of his certificate, he wrote, per People: "It's them good jeans." In June, the siblings attended the European premiere of the Apple TV+ film Echo Valley. While she wore a pale blue gown, he opted for an all black ensemble and sunglasses. "Thank you for letting me join you for the #EchoValley premiere," Trent Sweeney wrote on Instagram. "Had a lot of fun! Great movie as well if y'all wanna check it out! Also thank you @prada for setting up an amazing outfit! Definitely my favorite fit so far!" American Eagle addressed the widespread criticism in an Instagram post on Saturday. "'Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans' is and always was about the jeans. Her jeans. Her story," the clothing brand wrote. "We'll continue to celebrate how everyone wears their AE jeans with confidence, their way. Great jeans look good on everyone." This isn't the first time Sweeney's brand partnership has gone viral. In May, the 27-year-old released a limited-edition soap with Dr. Squatch made from her own bathwater. At the time, however, she laughed off any critics. "I think it's more fun to see everyone else talk about it," she told E! News. "I pitched it." What People Are Saying Lizzo referred to Sweeney's American Eagle ad in her new song "I'm Goin' In Till October" on Instagram on Wednesday: "No kizzy, he ain't got no business being with me. Fat a** pretty face with the t******. B****, I got good jeans like I'm Sydney." President Donald Trump told reporters on Sunday: "She's a registered Republican? Oh, now I love her ad!" Trump added to his remarks in a statement posted to Truth Social on Monday: "Sydney Sweeney, a registered Republican, has the 'HOTTEST' ad out there. It's for American Eagle, and the jeans are 'flying off the shelves.' Go get 'em Sydney! On the other side of the ledger, Jaguar did a stupid, and seriously WOKE advertisement, THAT IS A TOTAL DISASTER! The CEO just resigned in disgrace, and the company is in absolute turmoil. Who wants to buy a Jaguar after looking at that disgraceful ad. Shouldn't they have learned a lesson from Bud Lite, which went Woke and essentially destroyed, in a short campaign, the Company. The market cap destruction has been unprecedented, with BILLIONS OF DOLLARS SO FOOLISHLY LOST. Or just look at Woke singer Taylor Swift. Ever since I alerted the world as to what she was by saying on TRUTH that I can't stand her (HATE!). She was booed out of the Super Bowl and became, NO LONGER HOT. The tide has seriously turned—Being WOKE is for losers, being Republican is what you want to be. Thank you for your attention to this matter!" Robin Landa, an advertising expert and professor at Michael Graves College at Kean University, previously told Newsweek: "The campaign's pun isn't just tone-deaf—it's historically loaded." Political commentator Megyn Kelly, host of The Megyn Kelly Show, said on her show: "We're sick and f****** tired of the nonsense, where you are not allowed to ever celebrate someone who is white and blonde and blue-eyed. That we have to walk into a room apologetic for those things, or have for the past five years. In a way, this ad is the final declaration that we're done doing that s***. It doesn't mean we're better, but you know what? We're no worse than any other race or any other hair color or eye color." What Happens Next At the time of publication, Sweeney has not yet responded to the American Eagle backlash. Her new crime thriller Americana will be released in theaters on August 15.

The creator of 'Alien: Earth' challenged himself to invent monsters as scary as the Xenomorph. He thought about what upsets him the most.

The iconic and hideous Xenomorph has ripped, clawed, and munched its way through many helpless victims since first appearing in 1979's " Alien." So Noah Hawley, the creator and writer of the upcoming TV show " Alien: Earth," knew he had to conjure up some new monsters to match the horror of watching "Alien" for the first time, he told Business Insider in London. They include a strange eyeball with tentacles, which appears in one of the trailers. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Eammon Jacobs (@eammonjacobs) "I had to bring back the feeling of discovery of the lifecycle of a creature that every time you thought it had gotten as brutal and awful as it could get, it got worse. And I couldn't do that with a Xenomorph anymore," Hawley said. He approached the challenge of designing new creatures like a game. "You think about, well, what are the things that upset me the most? The bodily autonomy, parasites, all of it. And then you're doing an almost comedic game of what's the worst thing that could happen?" he said. "If they do enough disturbing things, then they become visually iconic, versus trying to make something that looks cool and then adding that in," he added. Hawley was also mindful of making sure the plentiful violence in the eight-episode series didn't become meaningless. Referring to the iconic chestburster scene in Alien, which director Ridley Scott famously didn't warn the cast how gory it would be, Hawley said: "I didn't work at a method level like that for the cast, but what I know at the heart of it is these deaths have to mean something. "And what makes them awful is not just the graphic nature of them, it's who they're happening to and the feelings that go around it." Good things come to those who wait, and for Hawley, horror is no different: "I feel like that horror is all about anticipation. So if there's too much delivery and not enough anticipation, then you've got the balance wrong." "Alien: Earth" starts streaming on Hulu on August 12 in the US and on August 13 on Disney+ in the UK.

‘Freakier Friday' Rotten Tomatoes Reviews: Does Lightning Strike Twice?

Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan's Freakier Friday — a sequel to their 2003 hit body switch comedy Freaky Friday — is new in theaters. Do Rotten Tomatoes critics think the sequel is as good as the original? Opening in theaters nationwide on Friday, the summary for Freakier Friday reads, 'The film picks up years after Tess (Curtis) and Anna Coleman (Lohan) endured an identity crisis. Anna now has a daughter of her own and a soon-to-be stepdaughter. 'As they navigate the myriad challenges that come when two families merge, Tess and Anna discover that lightning might indeed strike twice.' Directed by Nisha Ganatra, Freakier Friday also stars Mark Harmon, Chad Michael Murray, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Soong, Stephen Tobolowsky, Rosalind Chao, Julia Butters, Sophia Hammons, Manny Jacinto and Maitreyi Ramakrishnan.' As of Thursday, Freakier Friday has earned a 73% 'fresh' rating based on Rotten Tomatoes based on 127 reviews. The RT Critics Consensus for the film reads, 'Freakier Friday doesn't reinvent the original's story so much as it swaps the formula around for a frothy good time, with Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan easily slipping back into roles that fit them like mixed-and-matched gloves.' The RT Popcornmeter score based on verified user ratings is still pending. What Are Individual Critics Saying About 'Freakier Friday'? Alissa Wilkinson of The New York Times is among the top critics on RT who gives Freakier Friday a 'fresh' rating, writing in her review summary, 'Freakier Friday works best if you're there for the memories. Especially if you've learned a lesson or two of your own in the last 22 years.' William Bibbiani of The Wrap is also a fan of Freakier Friday, writing in his 'fresh' review summary on RT, 'It's still sweet, it's still funny, it's still freaky, and it's still Friday. Thank God.' Jocelyn Noveck of The Associated Press also gives Freakier Friday a 'fresh' review on RT, albeit with some reservations, writing, 'The problem is that sometimes, it's actually hard to keep track of who's inhabiting whom, and therefore why they're doing what. Not to say that Freakier Friday, directed with gusto by Nisha Ganatra, doesn't have moments of comic glee. David Rooney of The Hollywood Reporter is among the top critics on RT who gives Freakier Friday a 'rotten' review, writing, 'I think I would have preferred a shot-for-shot remake to this painfully stretched cash-grab.' Michael Phillips of the Chicago Tribune isn't a fan of Freakier Friday either, writing in his 'rotten' review summary on RT, 'There is a strain to it all. Doubling the bodies swapped ends up feeling like six times the chaos, not two.' Also unimpressed by Freakier Friday is Clarisse Loughrey of the UK's Independent, who writes in her 'rotten' review on RT, 'The talent of tomorrow has to play second fiddle to a generation's inability to let go of the past. And that's something a quick body swap can't solve.' Rated PG, Freakier Friday is new in theaters nationwide on Friday.
