Calvin Harris and Vick Hope announce birth of first child with controversial Instagram post
Presenter and author, Vick Hope, has welcomed her first child with DJ, Calvin Harris, a baby boy named Micah – and the couple have shared some intimate photos of the birth, plus some special post-birth moments, to celebrate. In a post from Calvin's account, re-shared by Vick, a series of images have been posted showing little Micah snuggled up with his dad, Vick and Micah in a birthing pool, and a jumpscare shot of a placenta. Calvin captioned the round-up, "20th of July our boy arrived. Micah is here! My wife is a superhero and I am in complete awe of her primal wisdom! Just so grateful. We love you so much Micah ❤️❤️❤️." As well as the placenta shot, a steamer containing chunks of the placenta was show, along with the organ in its final form: a jar of pills. Some women choose to have the placenta, an organ that develops during pregnancy to nourish the developing baby, turned into pills following the birth, believing they can help support recovery, energy levels, balance hormones and stave off depression. However, strong scientific evidence of this is lacking and it appears to be mostly anecdotal – but hey, absolutely each to their own! Commenting on the post, along with plenty of joyful well wishes, fans picked up on the placenta trilogy of pics, with one popular comment reading, "Placenta and placenta pills were not on my bingo card for today but ok". Another added, "Swiping: "Oh wow!…. That's amazing….. Congratula….. WHAT THE F*CK!?"" Singer Becky Hill also commented, writing, "love to see the placenta!! amazing we grow a whole new organ to provide life! good job not wasting it either, that's some goddess magic right there!" Prince Harry finally speaks out on Prince Andrew physical fight rumour
Another day, another report of a royal family rift – only this time, the rumours extend to a physical fight. According to a new biography on Prince Andrew, he and Prince Harry apparently had a physical fight at one point over comments made concerning Meghan Markle. Prince Andrew stepped back from public life after his disastrous Newsnight interview in 2019, which centred on his friendship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The biography, Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York by Andrew Lowni, and a Daily Mail article, allege that Prince Harry and Prince Andrew fell out at a family gathering after Andrew described Meghan as an 'opportunist' and said Harry's relationship with her would not last. In response, "punches were thrown" reportedly leaving Andrew with a bloody nose. Now, a spokesperson for Prince Harry has stepped in to clear up – and firmly deny – this particular round of rumours. According to PEOPLE, Harry's rep said, "I can confirm neither of those things are true. Prince Harry and Prince Andrew have never had a physical fight, nor did Prince Andrew ever make those comments about the Duchess of Sussex to Prince Harry." They added, "Such are the gross inaccuracies, damaging and defamatory remarks made in the Daily Mail's story, I can confirm a legal letter from Prince Harry's counsel has been sent to the Mail." Covid has made our brains age faster, says a new study – even if you were never ill with the virus
A new study from the University of Nottingham suggests the Covid pandemic may have left a very real impact on our brains, even if we were never sick with the virus. After analysing the data of over 15,000 adults via the UK Biobank – a biomedical treasure trove of health data and samples from half a million participants – scientists, with the help of artificial intelligence, compared brain ages found in two distinct two groups. One group had multiple brain scans taken before the pandemic over a set period of time, the second looked at those with scans taken both before and during the pandemic. Via this method, researchers found on average the human brain aged five and a half months faster during the pandemic than it did pre-2020. "This study reminds us that brain health is shaped not only by illness, but by our everyday environment," explains Dorothee Auer, Professor of Neuroimaging and senior author on the study. "The pandemic put a strain on people's lives, especially those already facing disadvantage. We can't yet test whether the changes we saw will reverse, but it's certainly possible, and that's an encouraging thought." The University study reports that "the changes were most noticeable in older individuals, in men, and in people from more disadvantaged backgrounds". It's a staunch reminder of just how big an impact stress and worry can have on our minds and bodies. "What surprised me most was that even people who hadn't had COVID showed significant increases in brain aging rates," added neurologist Ali-Reza Mohammadi-Nejad, who also worked on the study. "It really shows how much the experience of the pandemic itself, everything from isolation to uncertainty, may have affected our brain health." Lioness Lucy Bronze just revealed the huge health secret she kept throughout the whole tournament
Fresh off the back of yet another Euros win, the England women's team are riding high – including defender Lucy Bronze, who revealed that she was keeping a huge health secret throughout the entire gripping tournament. Bronze, 33, played in all six of England's matches in the UEFA Women's Euro 2025 competition, and revealed in a post-match interview that she was powering through a significant injury: "I actually played the whole tournament with a fractured tibia, but no-one knew," she explained. The tibia – also known as the shin bone – is the bone which runs from your knee joint to your ankle joint, and is vital for stability and weight-bearing. The idea of playing while having a fractured one sounds, quite frankly, hellish. When commenting on whether or not it would impact her celebrations, Bronze said, "It's very painful. I am going to party, I am going to enjoy it and that's it." During the tense final against Spain, the player could be seen limping on the pitch too and finished her appearance after an impressive 105 minutes, with a bandaged leg. This, she also detailed, was down to injuring her other leg too. "I just hurt my knee today on the other leg," Bronze shared. "That is why I got a lot of praise from the girls after the Sweden game because I have been in a lot of pain. "But if that's what it takes to play for England, that's what I'll do – they know that. We inspire each other by playing through things like that and it got us to the end, in the end." Commenting on how she is mentally strong in the face of injuries, Sarina Wiegman, England's manager, said Bronze has a "crazy mentality". "She had some issues with her tibia so of course we tried to manage that," she told press. "When you play 120 minutes you're not managing it are you? The whole team has a great mentality but she has a crazy mentality, it's unbelievable." Ouch – and kudos! Top Boy star Micheal Ward charged with rape and sexual assault
Micheal Ward, best known for his starring role as Jamie in Top Boy, has reportedly been charged with rape and sexual assault. According to reports, the Metropolitan Police have said the alleged offence took place in January 2023 and involves one woman. In full, Ward has been charged with two counts of rape and three counts of sexual assault (as per the BBC's report) and is set to appear at Thames Magistrates' Court in London on 28 August. The Met's Det Supt Scott Ware said: "Our specialist officers continue to support the woman who has come forward - we know investigations of this nature can have significant impact on those who make reports." Catherine Baccas, deputy chief crown prosecutor for CPS London South, said: "Having carefully reviewed a file of evidence, the Crown Prosecution Service has authorised the Metropolitan Police to charge Micheal Ward, 27, with two counts of rape, two counts of assault by penetration, and one count of sexual assault against a woman in January 2023." She added: "We remind all concerned that proceedings against the suspect are active and he has a right to a fair trial. "It is vital that there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in anyway prejudice these proceedings." Most recently, Ward posted on social media about the film Eddington which he appears in alongside big names including Emma Stone, Pedro Pascal, Joaquin Phoenix and Austin Butler. He does not appear to have commented on the charges as yet. Cosmopolitan UK has reached out to a representative of Ward.
