This initiative concludes Miral's 'Planting Roots for a Sustainable Future' campaign, as part of its Group CSR Strategy, which focuses on environmental protection. This initiative aligns with the 'Year of Community' initiative, bringing together over 200 attendees, including employees from Miral and ALEC, and 80 school students from Yasmina British Academy and Yas American Academy. As part of this initiative, participants engaged in a tree-planting activity, planting 200 Ghaf trees, 50 Delonix regia (Flame trees), and 50 Azadirachta indica (Neem tree/Indian lilac). Through this they not only raised awareness about environmental conservation but also contributed to creating a greener future. They gained insights into the ecological and cultural significance of Ghaf trees. These trees hold importance in sustaining the region's ecosystem, playing a crucial role in environmental preservation, said a statement. 'Our vision is to shape world-class destinations that not only redefine experiences but also contribute meaningfully to a sustainable future for our community,' said Taghrid AlSaeed, Executive Director of Marketing, Communications & Events at Miral. 'Planting these trees including the Ghaf trees, a symbol of resilience and heritage in the UAE, represents our long-term commitment to environmental protection and creating a greener future. By partnering with Abu Dhabi Municipality (ADM) and ALEC, we hope to inspire upcoming generations to become champions of sustainability and environmental care, fostering a sense of collective ownership in creating a healthier and vibrant environment for all.' Al Mansouri emphasised Abu Dhabi Municipality's keenness to collaborate with the private sector to support efforts in environmental protection and the sustainability of green areas in the emirate. Sindh University to develop Miyawaki forest
The Sindh University is developing a Miyawaki forest covering 4,000 square yards of its land at Hyder Bux Pavilion in Jamshoro district. During the campaign, there is a plan to plant 10,000 saplings in collaboration with the Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), started on Friday with some 700 saplings planted on the first day. Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Khalil-Ur-Rehman Khoumbhati, speaking at the inaugural event, said, at least six-foot-tall trees, with a survival rate of above 90%, are being planted. He expressed hope that the Miyawaki forest would add to the varsity's beautiful landscape besides improving the environment. Director of the Institute of Plant Sciences, Prof Dr Rabia Memon briefed the method applied for the plant growth in a Miyawaki forest-enabled trees to grow 10 times faster and 30 times denser besides becoming self-sustaining in a few years. A variety of trees like neem, sukhchain, terminalia, gulmohar (Delonix regia), moringa (Moringa oleifera), China rose, euphorbia and ziziphus, are being planted in the forest.
