Denton man charged with murder in fiancée's death after initial evidence tampering allegation, police say
A Denton man initially accused of tampering with evidence in his fiancée's death has now been charged with murder, police said Monday. William Joseph Oddo III, 52, is being held in the City of Denton Jail. His bond has not yet been set, according to the Denton Police Department. In a news release, Denton police said detectives discovered evidence that Oddo had purchased and used cleaning supplies to "tamper with the crime scene." Police said Oddo was arrested Monday at a motel in Mount Pleasant on a felony warrant for tampering with or fabricating physical evidence. After interviewing him, detectives filed an additional charge of murder. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office has not yet determined the official cause or manner of Wardell's death. Denton police said the Mount Pleasant Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Joint East Texas Fugitive Task Force assisted in Oddo's arrest. The case remains under investigation.

The hit-and-run accident occurred just after 2 a.m. in the 2300 block of Carril Al Lago Drive, near N. Bonnie Brae Street and W. University Drive. Nine taken to hospital, two in critical condition, after crash on I-35 in Denton County
Nine people, including two in critical condition, were taken to the hospital after a multi-vehicle crash on northbound I-35 north of Denton near Milam Road, police said. Six ambulances and rescue crews responded to the scene, the Denton Police Department said Wednesday. A CBS News Texas Chopper was over the scene, showing a passenger van and several other vehicles involved in the crash. "Expect delays for the next several hours," police said in a news release. Motorists are being urged to avoid the area if possible. "Please seek an alternate route!" Denton police said. The duration of the closure is unknown, and authorities are investigating. It is the second major crash on I-35 in Denton County in two days. A fatal multi-vehicle accident on I-35W near Vintage Boulevard caused significant traffic disruptions on Tuesday. The crash involved an RV and six other vehicles, resulting in one fatality and six injuries. CBS News Texas will continue to provide updates as they become available.
