70% Of Destiny 2's Top Contest Mode Clearing Raid Teams Cheated
Destiny 2 As if Bungie needs to deal with any more Destiny 2 drama, player investigations have now revealed that among the limited number of Contest clears for the insanely difficult Desert Perpetual raid last week, as many as 70% of the top 100 list appear to have cheated. It seems too early to list dozens of specific teams here, as I've already seen at least a couple false positives, but the provable ones? Many are very, very obvious. These cheater clears are marked by certain, publicly available data points, namely (via @aquativityy): Cheaters This is a mess. We have not seen anything at this level with a Contest raid clear…ever. The only piece of good news it that it does not seem to involve well-known, high profile teams including World's First Team Nuts, their livestreamed clear being obviously legitimate. All of this blew up yesterday and is currently the talk of the entire Destiny community, (which outside this, is already struggling to accept the Edge of Fate expansion on its own merit). Bungie has said nothing, as of yet. At this point I would at least put out a 'we're investigating' tweet today, but this is yet another thing they're going to have to explain in terms of how this happened regarding this Contest Mode raid, as they're already looking into bugged enemy health and deltas. FEATURED | Frase ByForbes™ Unscramble The Anagram To Reveal The Phrase Pinpoint By Linkedin Guess The Category Queens By Linkedin Crown Each Region Crossclimb By Linkedin Unlock A Trivia Ladder But we may know how this happened, at least to a certain extent. In its latest round of mass layoffs at Bungie, one of the teams affected heavily was player security which, as you might be able to guess, are the ones who work toward catching and preventing cheaters like this. Not to say that division doesn't exist at all now, but if you're wondering why this is happening at this moment, it certainly seems to fall in line with the timing of that. Destiny 2 It seems likely that there will be a large purge of these cheaters at some point given how obvious it is. But there's an additional layer on top of this, as it's not mandatory that everyone in a party is cheating, they are just playing with a cheater in order to get the clear. All of them should be banned as well, but that's not a guarantee. If you completed the Contest Mode raid, stay in line. You may now find yourself moving way, way up the legitimate clears list or shooting into the top 100 or top 50. We are awaiting Bungie to say anything about this. ‘Destiny 2' Boss Health And Player Damage Is Bugged Or Bad In ‘Edge Of Fate'
Destiny 2 After a wild weekend of punishment in the Contest Mode of Desert Perpetual, Destiny 2's new Edge of Fate raid, players have now begun to suspect that something is wrong in this new era of the game. It may be on purpose, it may be a bug, but either way, it raises questions about what's going on. The bosses in the contest mode of the raid had easily the most health we've seen in a Destiny 2 run like this, even with content tuned to be its hardest. While many top players enjoyed the experience, even they admitted that doing perfect damage to these bosses required an absurd amount of 'loadout swapping' between different gear sets to stack damage, something Bungie has previously said they don't like. Here? It was almost mandatory. This sparked a theory that boss health is simply broken in Edge of Fate, and it's not that far-fetched of an idea. Bungie overhauled more or less every system in Destiny 2 for the Edge of Fate launch, including damage scaling and a 'crunch' of damage numbers, which is why you're hitting for dozens and hundreds of damage instead of millions now. But this doesn't just appear to be Desert Perpetual. Players are reporting that other raid and dungeon bosses, even on normal modes, are now taking far more damage phases to kill than before, as in, double or triple or sometimes quadruple. The same content just…absurd amounts of health. Destiny 2 FEATURED | Frase ByForbes™ Unscramble The Anagram To Reveal The Phrase Pinpoint By Linkedin Guess The Category Queens By Linkedin Crown Each Region Crossclimb By Linkedin Unlock A Trivia Ladder Things may also be broken on the player damage side. Damage numbers are sometimes not reflecting actual values. Crit scalars sometimes appear not active. One of the strangest bugs, seemingly uncovered during the raid, was the 'reinstancing' an encounter could actually increase your damage if it was feeling too low in a previous attempt. It's all over the place. This may be a combination of things. Bungie did want to increase boss health so one-phases were far less common. But too much is happening here that it feels outright bugged, and it seems silly to go back and beef up a ton of old dungeon bosses in mostly irrelevant content with 3x the health as before. This doesn't feel great. I've never seen so many people frustrated with a contest mode run, but even though that's now over, these issues are extending into the rest of the game, and players are going to need some clarity from Bungie. If things were in fact bugged during the Contest Mode run, a limited-time offering, that's going to be something if a disaster to admit. But the main question is what it means for the game going forward and if things are actually feeling like they're supposed to. And if they are, if that's actually a good idea (I'm not even getting into what also appear to be bugged ability cooldowns). Yes, it's not shocking that giant overhauls of systems result in bugs and things breaking, but this one seems very, very important, and if it didn't damage Contest Mode, it still might be pervasive in the rest of the game. Either way, we need to know, and I've asked Bungie for clarification. Follow me on Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram. Pick up my sci-fi novels the Herokiller series and The Earthborn Trilogy.

Here's Destiny 2's List Of Disabled Raid Race Gear As Broken Bugs Pile Up
Choir of One Destiny 2 will be launching its Desert Perpetual raid today, and with that, comes a race to see who can complete it first, a staple of the series. Contest mode for the race, the most challenging difficulty, will be live for 48 hours. Those who complete it will get an emblem and bragging rights, but as for those first completions, that should be later today. I mean, we've had 24 hour races in the past, but I sort of doubt it for this one. If you're gearing up to head into the Destiny raid today, racing or not, there are a list of disabled items that you'll need to be aware of if you were planning to take them in. The list is not that long at this point, but I'm willing to bet it may grow here in the next few hours. I'm basing it on this Bungie Help post here, but again, I will add more if I need to. Exotic Armor Perk – Spirit of the Liar (disabled all across Destiny 2) Weapons: Outbreak Perfected, Third Iteration, Choir of One, Icebreaker I know that new exotic scout Third Iteration is doing 150% of the damage it's supposed to when you have anti-barrier on it. I know that Choir of One has re-boosted its huge reserves, seemingly by accident. I'm not sure about the other two, however, and Outbreak Perfected is a pretty common choice for exotics in many situations, so that's a bummer. In a less important move, Bungie has disabled bounty and weapon leveling progression for kills in the raid, as that helps ease server strain (nothing kills a race faster than server strain). Destiny 2 FEATURED | Frase ByForbes™ Unscramble The Anagram To Reveal The Phrase Pinpoint By Linkedin Guess The Category Queens By Linkedin Crown Each Region Crossclimb By Linkedin Unlock A Trivia Ladder However, needless to say there are still some…concerns with the integrity of the raid race. There was just this dust-up about a rapid farm of the exotic mission Encore which was skyrocketing the power level of players for three days before it was disabled, netting them early access to higher tier gear. What is or isn't turned off in terms of the benefits this gives is a bit unclear, though the new system is meant to be around boosted damage reduction and high damage on the new tiered gear. Then there are just a million potential oversights from Bungie in terms of how the totally new build system works, with stats now going to 200 and all of them being fundamentally changed in terms of the benefits they bring. I am seeing some new apparently broken build every few hours. One I'm working on is from (frequent World's First winner) Saltagreppo who has an apparently almost unkillable grapple-based Prismatic Hunter build running already. Nothing about that is disabled, for instance. I've also seen things like new forms of infinity super chaining, and we just don't know what else is going to be pulled out here. Neither does Bungie, I imagine, so it's going to be a free-for-all. Fun? Maybe. But expect the outcome of the race to potentially be controversial. Follow me on Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram.
