70% Of Destiny 2's Top Contest Mode Clearing Raid Teams Cheated

70% Of Destiny 2's Top Contest Mode Clearing Raid Teams Cheated

Destiny 2
As if Bungie needs to deal with any more Destiny 2 drama, player investigations have now revealed that among the limited number of Contest clears for the insanely difficult Desert Perpetual raid last week, as many as 70% of the top 100 list appear to have cheated.
It seems too early to list dozens of specific teams here, as I've already seen at least a couple false positives, but the provable ones? Many are very, very obvious.
These cheater clears are marked by certain, publicly available data points, namely (via @aquativityy):
Cheaters
This is a mess. We have not seen anything at this level with a Contest raid clear…ever. The only piece of good news it that it does not seem to involve well-known, high profile teams including World's First Team Nuts, their livestreamed clear being obviously legitimate.
All of this blew up yesterday and is currently the talk of the entire Destiny community, (which outside this, is already struggling to accept the Edge of Fate expansion on its own merit). Bungie has said nothing, as of yet. At this point I would at least put out a 'we're investigating' tweet today, but this is yet another thing they're going to have to explain in terms of how this happened regarding this Contest Mode raid, as they're already looking into bugged enemy health and deltas.

But we may know how this happened, at least to a certain extent. In its latest round of mass layoffs at Bungie, one of the teams affected heavily was player security which, as you might be able to guess, are the ones who work toward catching and preventing cheaters like this. Not to say that division doesn't exist at all now, but if you're wondering why this is happening at this moment, it certainly seems to fall in line with the timing of that.
Destiny 2
It seems likely that there will be a large purge of these cheaters at some point given how obvious it is. But there's an additional layer on top of this, as it's not mandatory that everyone in a party is cheating, they are just playing with a cheater in order to get the clear. All of them should be banned as well, but that's not a guarantee.
If you completed the Contest Mode raid, stay in line. You may now find yourself moving way, way up the legitimate clears list or shooting into the top 100 or top 50. We are awaiting Bungie to say anything about this.

Today's Wordle #1504 Hints And Answer For Friday, August 1st

Looking for Thursday's Wordle hints, clues and answer? You can find them here: How To Solve Today's Wordle It's August and it sort of feels like the world is hurtling toward a very bad time. Maybe I should say, A Very Bad Time for emphasis. The AI-apocalypse is upon us, and I'm not sure what that means for me, for the internet as we know, for all sorts of industries. Add to that the general instability in politics and global economics, the various wars, acts of terror and violence and...I'd just really like to travel back in time to the 90s and put a kibosh on the whole thing. Nothing faster than dial-up internet. No smart-phones. Hell, maybe just analog-only when it comes to technology. I don't mean to be all doom and gloom, but I'm genuinely concerned at this point. If AI kills the internet, I'll have to find a new line of work. Not looking forward to starting all over at 44, to be honest. But enough of that. It's 2XP Friday and we have a Wordle to solve. Let's solve it. FEATURED | Frase ByForbes™ Unscramble The Anagram To Reveal The Phrase Pinpoint By Linkedin Guess The Category Queens By Linkedin Crown Each Region Crossclimb By Linkedin Unlock A Trivia Ladder Wordle is a daily word puzzle game where your goal is to guess a hidden five-letter word in six tries or fewer. After each guess, the game gives feedback to help you get closer to the answer: Use these clues to narrow down your guesses. Every day brings a new word, and everyone around the world is trying to solve the same puzzle. Some Wordlers also play Competitive Wordle against friends, family, the Wordle Bot or even against me, your humble narrator. See rules for Competitive Wordle toward the end of this post. Today's Wordle Hints And Answer Wordle Bot's Starting Word: SLATE My Starting Word Today: CHAIR (92 words remaining) The Hint: Stringed instrument. The Clue: This Wordle ends in a vowel. Okay, spoilers below! The answer is coming! . . . Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here. CHAIR was a really good starting word, leaving me with just 92 remaining solutions and two yellow boxes. I tried juggling these with ANGEL but that only slashed the solutions down to 27. NASTY wasn't much better, leaving me with 6. Talk about blowing all my luck. MANOR left me with just two, but I only came up with BANJO. Thank goodness. If the answer had been PANKO it would have taken me six tries! The Bot beat me by one point in July. We start over fresh in August, but I'm off to a rough start. I lose 1 point for guessing in 5 and 1 point for losing to the Bot. That's -2 x 2 = -4 points! The Bot gets 1 point for beating me and 0 for guessing in four, for a total of 2 points. Not how I wanted to start things out this month. Erik: -4 points Wordle Bot: 2 points The Bot wins this month, though just barely. On Friday, we'll start over at zero. Oh well. The word "banjo" likely comes from "banja" or "bania", terms used by enslaved Africans in the Caribbean and North America to describe similar stringed instruments of African origin. Its exact linguistic roots are uncertain, but it may derive from a West African language, possibly Mandinka or Kimbundu. The instrument itself evolved in the Americas, blending African design with European influence. The term was first recorded in English in the mid-18th century. NYT ‘Connections' Hints For Friday, August 1: Today's Clues And Answers

Each day's game of NYT Connections goes live at midnight local time. Before we get to today's Connections hints and answers, here are Thursday's: Hey there, Connectors! Happy Friday. Let's make sure we keep those streaks of yours rolling along as we head into the weekend. As a kid, I had heard that saying 'white rabbits' on the first day of the month was supposed to bring you luck. I tried it once. That same month, my grandmother passed away. So, I've never done it since. I don't really have a broader point to make here. It's just the first of the month and I often think of that story on such occasions. But what I would say is that, while I don't necessarily believe in things like astrology or superstition, I'm all for anything that brings comfort and light into your life, as long as it doesn't negatively impact anyone else. Before we begin, we have a great little community on Discord, where we chat about NYT Connections, the rest of the NYT games and all kinds of other stuff. Everyone who has joined has been lovely. It's a fun hangout spot, and you're more than welcome to hang out with us. FEATURED | Frase ByForbes™ Unscramble The Anagram To Reveal The Phrase Pinpoint By Linkedin Guess The Category Queens By Linkedin Crown Each Region Crossclimb By Linkedin Unlock A Trivia Ladder Discord is also the best way to give me any feedback about the column, especially on the rare (or not-so-rare) occasions that I mess something up. I don't look at the comments or Twitter much. You can also read my weekend editions of this column at my new newsletter, Pastimes. Today's NYT Connections hints and answers for Friday, August 1 are coming right up. How To Play Connections Connections is a free, popular New York Times daily word game. You get a new puzzle at midnight every day. You can play on the NYT's website or Games app. You're presented with a grid of 16 words. Your task is to arrange them into four groups of four by figuring out the links between them. The groups could be things like items you can click, names for research study participants or words preceded by a body part. There's only one solution for each puzzle, and you'll need to be careful when it comes to words that might fit into more than one category. You can shuffle the words to perhaps help you see links between them. Each group is color coded. The yellow group is usually the easiest to figure out, blue and green fall in the middle, and the purple group is usually the most difficult one. The purple group often involves wordplay. Select four words you think go together and press Submit. If you make a guess and you're incorrect, you'll lose a life. If you're close to having a correct group, you might see a message telling you that you're one word away from getting it right, but you'll still need to figure out which one to swap. If you make four mistakes, it's game over. Let's make sure that doesn't happen with the help of some hints, and, if you're really struggling, today's Connections answers. As with Wordle and other similar games, it's easy to share results with your friends on social media and group chats. If you have an NYT All Access or Games subscription, you can access the publication's Connections archive. This includes every previous game of Connections, so you can go back and play any of those that you have missed. Aside from the first 60 games or so, you should be able to find our hints Google if you need them! Just click here and add the date of the game for which you need clues or the answers to the search query. What Are Today's Connections Hints? Scroll slowly! Despite the links between GARLAND and WREATH, and DEAN and FACULTY, taking a guess at a group of four classic movie stars was too tempting to pass up. As it turns out, I got the blues with (James) DEAN, (Clark) GABLE, (Judy) GARLAND and (Shirley) TEMPLE. The purples were up next. JACKPOT led me into those. Hit the HAY is an expression meaning "go to sleep," hit the ROAD means to start driving and hit the ROOF means to react furiously. The halved grid made it easy to spot the yellows. That left the greens, for which I did not deduce the connection. I thought they all referred to a logo of some kind. Never mind! Another perfect game brings me up to 155 wins on the bounce. Friday: I absolutely love when the YouTube algorithm sends me a music video that has maybe a few dozen views, then I click on it and enjoy it very much. Such was the case this week with this song by a band I had never heard of. "Public Circuit is a New York City electronic band," reads the very informative text on the band's YouTube channel. Their latest track, "To The Grave" is '80s as heck and a certifiable bop. Definitely gonna have to check out some more from these guys: Have a great day! Stay hydrated! Be kind to yourself and each other! Call someone you love! Please follow my blog for more coverage of NYT Connections and other word games, and even some video game news, insights and analysis. It helps me out a lot! Sharing this column with other people who play Connections would be appreciated too. You can also read my weekend editions of this column at my new newsletter, Pastimes.
