4 Barcelona youngsters still training with first-team ahead of La Liga season opener

A quartet of youth team talents have this week continued to line out alongside the club's star-studded first-team squad in training. That's according to journalist Sergi Capdevila of Diario Sport, who has on Tuesday provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Catalunya's capital. Barcelona are of course in the thick of final preparations for the new campaign. After seeing out the final fixture of the club's pre-season over the weekend, focus has now shifted towards a opening day La Liga meeting with RCD Mallorca this weekend. The Blaugrana's whole host of stars, in turn, are hard at work in an effort to convince boss Hansi Flick of their status as starters. And as alluded to above, joining such players at The Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper once more on Tuesday were four academy starlets. As per a report from the aforementioned Sergi Capdevila: 'All the youth players – Pedro 'Dro' Fernández, Toni Fernández, Guille Fernández and Jofre Torrents – remain in the first-team dynamic with Flick on Tuesday, four days before the start of La Liga. We'll see if Flick takes any of them to Mallorca.' Conor Laird – GSFN

Barcelona veteran could be sent on loan in January

A headline member of the first-team ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona could be forced to find himself a new temporary home for the 2nd half of the upcoming campaign. That's according to Diario Sport, who point towards Marc-André ter Stegen as the player in question. Goalkeeper Ter Stegen has of course seen his name return to the centre of the headlines in Catalunya's capital over the last 48 hours. This comes after confirmation was forthcoming that the German's absence from group training with Hansi Flick's squad this week comes owing to a back injury. Ter Stegen has been advised to go under the knife to solve the problem, a move which would see him ruled out for around four months. And in the case of heading down such a route, the most likely scenario would see the 33-year-old farmed out on loan in January. Already down the pecking order at the Camp Nou owing to the recent arrivals of both Joan García and Wojciech Szczęsny, Ter Stegen would be highly unlikely to secure any sort of meaningful game-time in Barcelona over the 2nd half of the term. In turn, as per a report from Sport: 'It is very likely that Ter Stegen will agree to go on loan for six months from January to show himself and have the possibility of going to the World Cup with the German national team.' Barcelona star ‘not expected to enjoy many minutes' next season

A member of the midfield ranks at La Liga champions Barcelona could be set for an altogether frustrating campaign in 2025/26. That's according to Diario Sport, who point towards Marc Casadó as the player in question. Advertisement Youngster Casadó is for his part of course fresh off a breakout campaign on the books of Barcelona. Afforded a prominent role by new Blaugrana headmaster Hansi Flick, the 21-year-old took full advantage, shining from his berth at the base of midfield. Casadó's excellence in possession was complemented by a never-say-die attitude off the ball, culminating in a complete midfield package. And yet, if the latest word stemming from the media this week is anything to go by, game time could prove tough to come by for the Spanish international in Catalunya's capital next season. As per a report from Sport: Advertisement 'In principle, he will not enjoy many minutes after the renewal of De Jong and the bet on Marc Bernal.' For this reason, in the case of a big-money offer arriving for his signature, it is not out of the question that Casadó could be sold. Conor Laird – GSFN

Transfer interest in Barcelona defender continues to fade

Interest in the signature of Barcelona star Ronald Araújo is continuing to fade out across the continent. That's according to Diario Sport, who have on Tuesday provided an insight into the latest chatter surrounding the Uruguayan's future. Advertisement Just months ago, Araújo was of course considered as very much on the way out at Barcelona. Amid a January assault on his signature on the part of Italian heavyweights Juventus, Barca were tipped to sell, only for a last-minute change of heart to culminate in the stopper putting pen to paper on fresh terms at the Camp Nou. Links between Juve and Araújo had since persisted, with the Bianconeri still on the lookout for reinforcements at the back ahead of next season. If the latest word stemming from the media on Tuesday is anything to go by, however, then those behind the scenes in Turin appear to have cooled their interest considerably.
