Barcelona star arrives in the city ‘to close his exit'
A member of the loan ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona this week returned to the city, in the hopes of securing a permanent exit from the club. That's according to Diario Sport, who point towards Clément Lenglet as the player in question. Advertisement Defender Lenglet for his part spent this past season out on loan away from Barcelona, spending the term in Spain's capital with Atlético Madrid. And the Frenchman went on to find some of his very best form on the books of Diego Simeone's side, on his way to three goals and two assists in 34 appearances across all competitions. The understanding, in turn, is that Atlético and Lenglet alike are keen on extending their time together beyond the coming summer. Ahead of the fast-approaching Club World Cup, a tournament at which he would like to play full part for the Rojiblancos, Lenglet therefore returned to base in Catalunya's capital this week. Advertisement As per a report from Sport: 'He is very comfortable and wants to continue under Simeone's orders. For this reason, the Frenchman arrived in Barcelona on Wednesday to meet with Barça's sporting management.' Barcelona, keen to shift Lenglet's high wages off their books once and for all, are expected to be open to a number of potential avenues when it comes to the stopper's return to Atléti. Barcelona make final call on Neymar free agent return
The brass at La Liga giants Barcelona have ruled out a free agent move for Neymar Jr. this summer. That's according to Diario Sport, who have confirmed that, despite previous claims to the contrary, no reunion is on the cards between the Blaugrana and their former winger. Advertisement The subject of Neymar's potential return has of course long proven a major talking point in Catalunya's capital. This comes after the Brazilian made himself available to his former employers, amid their ongoing search for reinforcements out wide with a view to next season. As alluded to above, though, if the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, then Neymar's push for a Camp Nou comeback looks set to fall on deaf ears. As per a report from Sport: 'Barça have definitively put the return of the Brazilian on hold due to his repeated injuries and the emergence of Lamine Yamal, who will be the superstar of the new Spotify Camp Nou.' Lamine Yamal makes contract demand for Barcelona renewal
Barcelona and Lamine Yamal seem destined to commit to a long-term deal together this summer, but as President Joan Laporta admitted earlier this week, the signature is yet to be added to the contract. If there was any doubt over the importance of the 17-year-old to their project, his new contract will clear that up. 'We'll have to suffer,' said Laporta regarding Lamine Yamal's new deal, which they have been renegotiating with agent Jorge Mendes. The summer of 2023, Barcelona agreed a three-year contract renewal, with the rough terms agreed to extend that deal until 2030 or 2031 once he had turned 18. The maximum contract length a player under 18 can sign for is three years. Barcelona have had to improve Lamine Yamal's deal Barcelona have had to renegotiate those terms this season though, as a result of his rapid rise to the summit of world football. The Blaugrana have been happy to do so, feeling he should receive a deal that reflects his status, and ultimately, keeps him happy at the club he regularly declares his loyalty to. Image via Diario Sport / X Lamine Yamal could become Barcelona's top earner According to Cadena SER, the shorter version of their recent negotiations has been that Lamine Yamal wants to become Barcelona's top-paid player. Currently, that is Robert Lewandowski, who they say is earning €16m net per annum. The Blaugrana want to place Lamine Yamal at the top of their wage scale, but it is not clear if that is the new one, or the one Lewandowski is at the top of. They feel that the Polish forward's deal is outdated, and that they should renegotiate lower terms with the 36-year-old to bring his earnings down. Renewal season at Barcelona Liverpool forward Luis Diaz has been cited as the top transfer target for Barcelona this summer, and quite possibly the only one, with Director of Football Deco set to invest most of the available budget in contract renewals. A deal has reportedly been struck with Raphinha over a new deal, but after Pedri and Ronald Araujo also signed new deals in January, Frenkie de Jong is next on the list.

Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen set to join Real Madrid after passing medical
Real Madrid have won the race to sign Bournemouth centre-back Dean Huijsen in a £50 million deal. According to Diario Sport, the 20-year-old has completed the first part of his medical and is set to sign a five-year contract with the Spanish powerhouse. Huijsen is one of the most sought-after players on the transfer market. His debut season with Bournemouth turned the heads of many European giants. He was admired by nearly every top team in England, and they all threw their hats in the ring in a fierce duel to secure his services. At one point, Chelsea were front-runners to snap him up, but Madrid swooped in to agree a deal that would take him back to Spain for the first time since he left Malaga's youth set-up for Juventus. Huijsen has been open about his desire to play in Spain, so despite being coveted by half of the Premier League, joining Madrid was a no-brainer for the talented defender. The Netherlands-born Spanish international was given permission by Bournemouth to travel for the first part of his medical. There's a second part scheduled for later today, so it's only a matter of time before the transfer is officially announced by both clubs. Madrid accelerated their efforts to sign Huijsen this week. His representatives had already flown to Madrid on Thursday to finalise personal terms. Madrid held talks with Bournemouth to sort out the player's £50m release clause on Wednesday, which will be paid in three instalments. As part of the deal, Huijsen's former clubs Juventus and Malaga will pocket 10% and five percent of the transfer fee, respectively. Huijsen could already be Madrid's second signing of the summer transfer window. After losing their La Liga crown to Barcelona and crashing out of the Champions League in the quarter-final, Madrid are wasting no time shaking things up. They have already confirmed that they will part ways with Carlo Ancelotti at the end of the season, with former midfielder Xabi Alonso set to replace the Italian. Madrid have also wrapped up a deal for Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, who will join on a free transfer this summer.

Barcelona star ‘has decided to leave Barcelona this summer'
A member of the attacking ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has already made the call to depart the club this summer. That's according to Diario Sport, who point towards Pau Víctor as the player in question. Advertisement Frontman Víctor, for his part, has endured something of a difficult campaign to date in Catalunya's capital. Owing to the fierce competition for places in Hansi Flick's frontline, the 23-year-old has largely struggled for game-time, to the tune of just two starts across all competitions. At such a crucial point in his development as a player, it should in turn come as little surprise to hear of Víctor eyeing a new challenge this summer. As per a report from Sport, in fact: 'Pau Víctor has decided to leave Barcelona this summer.' The board at the Camp Nou are not expected to stand in the way of the attacker, who boasts interest by way of a whole host of clubs across Spain and beyond. It is also noted, though, that Deco and co. would like to keep control of Víctor's future, by way of a buyback clause in any sale. Conor Laird – GSFN
