The post KISS Collaborator Karl Cochran Killed in Tragic Car Accident Involving 90-Year-Old Mother appeared first on Consequence. Karl Cochran, a veteran rock guitarist who collaborated with KISS and played with singer Joe Lynn Turner, among others, was killed in a tragic car accident involving his 90-year-old mother on Wednesday morning (February 19th) in Bridgewater, New Jersey. According to the 61-year-old Cochran was a passenger in the car, and was ejected when the 2015 Subaru Legacy his mother Arna was driving struck a tree while backing up in a front yard. Cochran was taken by helicopter to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, where he died from his injuries. Cochran was a member of KISS guitarist Ace Frehley's solo band in the 1990s, and co-wrote the KISS song 'Into the Void' with Frehley on the band's 1998 reunion album Psycho Circus. He was also a member of The Eric Singer Project, featuring the longtime KISS drummer. In addition to his associations with KISS musicians, Cochran was known for his work with singer Joe Lynn Turner (Rainbow, Deep Purple), appearing on a number of the vocalist's solo recordings. Cochran suffered a stroke in 2014, but continued to work in music as a producer and engineer, as well as a guitar and bass teacher. KISS paid tribute to Cochran upon learning of his passing, sharing a photo of the guitarist with Paul Stanley, and writing, 'Our dear friend Karl Cochran was killed in a car accident on Feb. 19th. Karl was a vocalist and guitarist extraordinaire who suffered a massive stroke but never stopped fighting to make his way back. He was loved by our fans worldwide through his appearances worldwide and was a constant inspiration as our guest on our KISS Kruises. Our deep condolences to Geri and family.' Joe Lynn Turner offered a lengthy tribute, which read in part, 'For me personally I have lost a brother, friend and partner. Now there will always be a missing part of my heart. I shall always remember and celebrate with love for the time I was fortunate enough to share with his incredible character and boundless spirit.' Our condolences go out to Karl Cochran's family and friends during this difficult time. Dolly Parton Urges Indiana Governor to Not Cut for Imagination Library from State Budget
The post Dolly Parton Urges Indiana Governor to Not Cut for Imagination Library from State Budget appeared first on Consequence. With momentum for governmental funding cuts abound across the United States, one of the many programs that has now found itself on the chopping block is Dolly Parton's Imagination Library in Indiana — and the country icon is calling on the state to reverse course. The Imagination Library was created by Parton to help promote childhood reading by sending books to children under 5 on a monthly basis. Beginning in 2023, Indiana pledged to match 50% funding for the initiative (with the charity group United Way funding the other 50%). But now, Governor Mike Braun has recommended reducing the state's contribution to a flat $0. Through a representative, Parton urged the state to reconsider the decision. 'We are hopeful that Governor Braun and the Indiana Legislature will continue this vital investment by restoring the state's funding match for local Imagination Library programs,' Jeff Conyers, president of the Dollywood foundation, said, per the Daily Beast. 'The beauty of the Imagination Library is that it unites us all — regardless of politics — because every child deserves the chance to dream big and succeed,' Conyers continued. 'For the past two years, the State of Indiana has been a proud partner in bringing Dolly Parton's Imagination Library to over 125,000 Hoosier children each month. Together, we've helped nurture a love of reading, given families precious moments of joy, and built a foundation for lifelong learning.' Parton launched the Imagination Library in East Tennessee in 1995, and it has since expanded across the United States and the world, gifting over 270 million books to date according to its website. Meanwhile, Parton recently collaborated with Sabrina Carpenter on a new version of 'Please Please Please' released with the deluxe reissue of Short n' Sweet earlier this month. Up next, she'll be featured on two songs from The Wiggles' upcoming country album Wiggle Up, Giddy Up!, due on March 7th. Grimes Turns to Twitter to Beg for Elon Musk's Attention Amid Child's 'Medical Crisis'
The post Grimes Turns to Twitter to Beg for Elon Musk's Attention Amid Child's 'Medical Crisis' appeared first on Consequence. Grimes has apparently had no choice but to take to the social media platform owned by her ex-partner, Elon Musk, publicly pleading for his 'immediate attention' regarding a 'medical crisis' involving one of their children. In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, Grimes wrote to Musk, 'Plz respond about our child's medical crisis. I am sorry to do this publicly but it is no longer acceptable to ignore this situation. This requires immediate attention.' 'If you don't want to talk to me can you please designate or hire someone who can so that we can more forward on solving this. This is urgent, Elon,' Grimes added. Responding to a fan in another post, Grimes wrote, 'I'm not giving any details but he won't respond to texts calls or emails and has skipped every meeting and our child will suffer life long impairment if he doesn't respond asap, so I need him to fucking respond and if I have to apply public pressure then I guess that's where we are at.' Grimes began dating Musk in 2018, and their on-again, off-again relationship lasted until 2022. They share three children and have been embroiled in a parental rights dispute over custody for the past year. Musk has yet to acknowledge Grimes' posts—more disturbingly, it appears that he or someone at X may be shadow-banning them to limit their visibility. A$AP Rocky Found Not Guilty in Shooting Trial
The post A$AP Rocky Found Not Guilty in Shooting Trial appeared first on Consequence. A$AP Rocky has been found not guilty on two counts of first-degree assault The Harlem rapper was charged with assault with a firearm in connection to the alleged November 2021 shooting of his former collaborator, A$AP Relli. The incident occurred in the Hollywood area during an argument between the two artists. He faced up to 24 years in prison after turning down a plea deal for 180 days in jail. While on the stand, Relli testified Rocky pointed a gun at his stomach and head during the beginning of their confrontation before later firing the shots that grazed his knuckles. He also said Rocky threatened to kill him. During one crucial moment in the trial, Relli confirmed he was at a Los Angeles gun range in a video filmed just two weeks before the incident. This admission gave an opening for Rocky's lawyer, Joe Tacopina, to further a theory that Relli planted the two 9 mm shell casings he purportedly found at the crime scene after police came up empty. While being questioned by deputy district attorney Paul Przelomiec, however, Relli was insistent that he did not fabricate or plant any evidence related to the case, pointing to the fact that he initially told police that there were three or four gunshots. 'If I planted, [I] would have brought exactly what I said [at first],' he said. For his part, Rocky claimed he never fired any live bullets, but instead used a 'prop gun' that only shoots blanks to fire two 'warning shots' to break up a fight between Relli and A$AP Illz, another member of the A$AP Mob collective. However, the defense did not have the alleged prop gun in their possession. To back up the defense's claim, Rocky's longtime friend and collaborator A$AP Twelvyy was called to the stand, confirming that he saw Rocky carry a starter pistol on 'several occasions,' including the night of the incident. Twelvyy also testified that Rocky only fired the gun after Relli started punching Illz. What's more, Twelvyy claimed not only had Relli started the fight, but he recognized the pistol wasn't real when Rocky pulled it out. '[Relli] told [Rocky] to shoot that fake-ass gun,' Twelvyy said under direct examination from the defense. Rocky opted not to take the stand during the trial, invoking his Fifth Amendment right to not testify. A$AP Rocky was previously arrested in Stockholm, Sweden following an altercation with a man in the street. After spending more than a month in detention awaiting trial, he was found guilty and allowed to return home to America.
