Also at Disney World, spooky season starts early: there's a new Disney Villains show, and tickets to Magic Kingdom's Halloween party are on sale now. With summer vacations on the horizon, Disney Experiences are popping off at their bi-coastal theme parks, Disney Cruises, and international destinations. Walt Disney World is getting a nighttime parade featuring new Pixar and Disney Animation Studios favorites, while Mickey Mouse and the Fab Five get dapper outfits to shine along with Starlight. Spooky fun is already beginning with the Disney Villains getting their own show at WDW's Hollywood Studios and Halloween party tickets going on sale. Over at Disneyland, the 70th anniversary party is in full swing with fun festive foods and more. At Disneyland Paris, the theme park dances the summer away with a new music festival. And Disney Cruises prepares to set sail with the fleet's newest ship in this week's theme park news. Walt Disney World – Starlight This summer brings an all-new nighttime parade, Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away, which will debut July 20, 2025. The Magic Kingdom Park exclusive will bring back nighttime parades to the Walt Disney World resort and will feature classic and new Disney and Pixar fandom faves along the parade route on Main Street. The sparkling floats will light up the night and of course we're excited to see the updates to Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and Daisy's costumes for the summer premiere. Walt Disney World – Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After There has been a need for more indoor shows as Walt Disney World's humid summer gets underway, so why not some chilling tales from the Disney Villains to beat the heat? Walt Disney World – Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Haunted Mansion's Butler Broom extends the invitation for what's sure to be a swinging wake. New this year will be a Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse spooky meet and greet at the Town Square Theater. For those of us with little tots, the Storybook Circus will get a 'happy haunt' transformation to help the smallest of Disney fans ease into the spirit of the season—since it is Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween after all. Along with popular returning faves, the event will run August 15 to October 31. Tickets here. Disney Imagineering tour of Epcot's Moana: Journey of Water Delight in one of our favorite walkthrough attractions at Walt Disney World to keep summer visitors cool with Imagineering's fun-fact filled behind the scenes look at Moana: Journey of Water. Disneyland 70th Food This summer, aside from watching all the nighttime shows and scavenger hunting with the key to Disneyland, we'll be eating our way through the parks. Our current fave dish is the 70th celebration Mickey Waffles at Schmoozies which are like confetti cake in flavor and have a creamy strawberry center that's not to be missed. Disneyland France – Disney Music Festival Disneyland Paris makes a debut as a music festival destination from now until September 7 with the Disney Music Festival. The event will combine all genres of music with experiences inspired by Pixar and Disney Animation favorites, with hubs dedicated to various genres of music. That includes a mariachi band with Coco's Miguel in Frontierland, jazz with Mary Poppins in Town Square, rock n' roll with Elvis Stitch in Discoveryland, and more characters getting in on the fun. I want to know to know the story of DJ Chip and Dale, who just by the looks of their outfits look like they mean house music business. The Biggest Differences Between the Animated' Lilo & Stitch' Film and the Live-Action Remake (Including One Missing Character!)
Disney's live-action reimagining of Lilo & Stitch premiered on May 23, over 20 years after the animated original The new film was directed by Marcel the Shell with Shoes On filmmaker Dean Fleischer Camp Several key changes and updates were made to the story, including the omission of one major characterThere were plenty of changes for Lilo and Stitch in Disney's latest iteration, but their core friendship remains the heart of the story. The fluffy blue alien first crash-landed in Hawaii for the 2002 animated film Lilo & Stitch, directed by Dean DeBlois and Chris Sanders, the latter of whom serves as the voice of Stitch. Now, 23 years later, the live-action reimagining of the classic came to theaters on May 23, this time helmed by Marcel the Shell with Shoes On director Dean Fleischer Camp. Lilo & Stitch comes after a growing list of Disney's live-action updates, including The Little Mermaid, Snow White, Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King and more. To Camp, Lilo & Stitch felt "perfect" for the live-action treatment since it takes place in a contemporary setting and follows "normal humans going about their lives and striving for happiness." While still honoring the original, "there's so much opportunity in terms of digging into the emotional realities of those human characters and grounding it in a lived experience," the filmmaker said in notes shared with press. But what did the director change about Lilo and Stitch's iconic story? Read on for the four biggest changes made to Lilo & Stitch for the live-action remake. Warning: Spoilers for both versions of ahead! The main villain of the animated film, Captain Gantu, is absent from the live-action iteration. Voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson, the original harbinger of evil is the towering whale-looking antagonist sent to hunt Stitch on Earth. In the place of Gantu, the character Jumba instead assumes the primary villain status in the remake. He was voiced by the late David Ogden Stiers in the original, serving as a lovable, quirky mad scientist responsible for creating Stitch. In the new film, played by Zach Galifianakis, he's still the mastermind behind Experiment 626, but more of a ruthless bad guy. 'What was fun for me, personally, was to play someone villainous, or a villainous creature," Galifianakis said in notes shared with press. "I don't think I really did any of that, and it was kind of fun just to act with your menacing face." Kevin McDonald voiced the clumsy alien Pleakley in the animated version, while in live-action he takes the form of Billy Magnussen, known for his roles in Aladdin (2019) and Into the Woods (2014). The cartoon Pleakley opted for women's clothing when going undercover on planet Earth with Jumba. Though the costumes for Magnussen are playfully quirky and off-beat in the live-action remake, Pleakley never appears in drag on-screen, despite director Camp advocating for the disguise. "I have had people message me, 'Why is Pleakley not wearing a dress?' And I just want to say: 'I tried. I tried,' " Camp said in a TikTok video, showing conceptual sketches that showed live-action Pleakley in a wig and dress. In a September 2024 interview with Collider, Magnussen said, "I hope [fans] just embrace it as its own story. When they make these live-action films, sometimes I think people hold on to what the other one was, but they're not in competition. That's what I want to clarify. There's no competition here. It's honestly just celebrating. ... I hope people don't compare it." Tia Carrere brought Lilo's big sister Nani to life in the 2002 original, and in the new iteration, the actress found a fresh role. She plays Mrs. Kekoa, a caring social worker who tries to help Nani (Sydney Agudong) navigate being a guardian to Lilo (Maia Kealoha) after the death of their parents. "Nani, I couldn't have imagined anybody that they could find to fill these roles, and they fill them beautifully," Carrere told PEOPLE of passing the torch to Agudong. "It was wonderful. But it's her torch. She's so good, and she's so strong." Agudong, in notes shared with press, described her Nani as "hotheaded." The actress added, "She is type-A, she's a go-getter, and nothing's going to stop her." Tūtū, the supportive neighbor and grandmother of David (Kaipo Dudoit), is another new addition to the mix. Amy Hill embodies the role after she voiced Mrs. Hasagawa in the animated film. "It was exciting to come back now with a different role, because I was able to create a character that didn't exist in the original,' Hill said in notes shared with press. 'I did have to go back and rewatch the animated film because it had been such a long time. It is such a warm-hearted, lovely movie." The endings of both versions involve Stitch being allowed to stay on Earth to live with Lilo and his newfound ohana. But the live-action version gives more focus on Nani's future and responsibilities. A montage at the conclusion of the animated version shows Lilo, Stitch, Nani and David living happily ever after as a blended family, but in the live-action take, David's grandmother Tūtū takes in 6-year-old Lilo after their house is destroyed. Then, Lilo encourages Nani to follow her dreams and go to college for marine biology, taking the pressure off the older sister to be both parent and sibling after they were orphaned. But she is never too far away — Nani still manages to visit Lilo and Stitch via the portal gun that allows her to transport between her dorm room and home. Read the original article on People

Lilo & Stitch India Box Office Day 1: American live-action movie takes slow start, nets Rs 50 lakh
The American live-action movie Lilo & Stitch is finally in theaters. The movie is storming the box office in its domestic markets, but took a slow start in India. Here's taking a look at the opening day box office collection of Lilo & Stitch. Lilo & Stitch clocks Rs 50 lakh on its opening day in India Helmed by Dean Fleischer Camp, the sci-fi comedy drama kicked off on a reasonable note in India. The movie registered an average occupancy throughout the day and collected Rs 50 lakh on its opening day at the Indian box office. Though it is not a good start for a Hollywood movie, it is a reasonable start for a live-action film, as this genre isn't very profitable in India. The good part is that Lilo & Stitch recorded better traction than the new Hindi releases- Kesari Veer and Kapkapiii on its opening day. While the movie is expected to give tough competition to Mission Impossible 8 and Final Destination: Bloodlines in North America, it will remain far behind in India. The movie stars Maia Kealoha in her debut as Lilo Pelekai, with original Lilo & Stitch writer-director Chris Sanders reprising his voice role as Stitch. It is the official remake of the 2002 animated movie of the same name. Backed by Disney Animation, the movie is projected to gross over USD 1 billion in its lifetime run at the worldwide box office. Lilo & Stitch in cinemas now Lilo & Stitch is available in cinemas nearby. You can book your tickets from the online ticket-booking websites or grab them from the counter.
