The next young starlet to be on the verge of a break through at Manchester City has seemingly been revealed

Ever since arriving at Manchester City from West Ham in September of 2023, Divine Mukasa has always appeared destined to one day become a first-team player at the club. The young attacking midfielder has all of the necessary attributes to grow into a City player. He is a precocious talent who seemingly has the world at his feet. After being named in Manchester City's travelling squad for today's friendly against Palermo, it is clear that Mukasa is likely to be the next young player to break through at Manchester City. Manchester City does have a pathway to first-team football from the EDS system. Three players have risen through the ranks of Manchester City's academy to become regular first-team players at the club. Phil Foden, Rico Lewis, and Oscar Bobb have taken that path. James Trafford is another who could be included on that list. Although, he spent two seasons at Burnley before returning to the Etihad this summer. James McAtee is another but he seems destined to leave the club. In the case of Foden, Lewis, and Bobb each player is technically superb. That has helped them break through at City. Divine Mukasa has technical quality in spades. That sets him up well to become a Manchester City player. Divine Mukasa is an attacking midfielder. He is a creative force that was on full display last season. His ability to play in the pockets and create something out of nothing is exceptional. Mukasa can also score goals which makes him an infinitely more dangerous player. He is also physically imposing so playing against seasoned professionals at 17 years of age shouldn't be a massive shock to the system of Divine Mukasa. Divine Mukasa could spend the 25/26 season training with the City first team to further develop. Divine Mukasa looks ready to play at a higher level throughout the 25/26 season. At times he made it seem like he was a man playing against boys for Manchester City's under-18 side. It is clear to see that Mukasa needs to be tested at a higher level. The England youth international should move up to the City EDS side this season. He will also likely spend a significant time training with Pep Guardiola's squad. That should help him fulfil his obvious potential. It isn't expected that Divine Mukasa will be a prominent player in Pep Guardiola's squad next season. But it won't be a surprise if and when he makes his first-team debut for Manchester City at some stage during the 25/26 season. His inclusion in Manchester City's travelling squad for today's match shows how highly he is regarded at City. Divine Mukasa looks set to be the next young player to break through at Manchester City. If and when that occurs will be something worth watching out for.

The 17-year-old midfielder joined us in September 2023 from West Ham United and impressed immediately, shining on our way to FA Youth Cup success at the end of the 2023/24 campaign. He backed that up last season with 41 games across all competitions, with 16 goals and 15 assists in just 20 games in the U18 Premier League. A technical, creative and physically imposing player, Mukasa added a prolific edge to his game over the course of 2024/25. He even claimed a hat-trick in the 7-1 U18 Premier League win over Newcastle United in November 2024. There were also braces against Nottingham Forest, Stoke City, Leeds United and Wolves. We asked for your thoughts on Manchester City's upcoming Club World Cup campaign and what you make of the squad after the mini-transfer window. Here are some of your comments: Adam: It would take a calamity to prevent City getting to the knockout stage but it's difficult to feel invested in the competition. Based on the latter stages of this season's Champions League, City are nowhere near that level right now and the new signings likely won't have had enough time to settle City will do OK in the competition. It's a chance for all our new signings to try out and also to welcome the injured heroes back to the team. Good luck to everyone Looking forward to the Club World Cup, especially with all of the new signings and how they perform. Great to see all purchases made prior and now to get them to gel together prior to the new To be honest, I'm not really bothered about this competition at all. The players are already asked to play too many games so I don't think it's helpful to introduce more games for players who are already tired after a long hard Disappointed he has not taken Divine Mukasa or any of the victorious U21 squad to America. Surely Pep and his staff can see Mukasa is destined for Money rules the world of football and the welfare of the players, and the quality of the football comes last. I'm sure it will have its moments; Messi playing, the odd upset, but at what cost? Fatigued players going straight back to the Premier League and the injuries that will be Great squad but would have liked more academy players for development and experience. Classic Pep - half the squad are 'midfielders'.
