Yahoo2 days ago
Ever since arriving at Manchester City from West Ham in September of 2023, Divine Mukasa has always appeared destined to one day become a first-team player at the club. The young attacking midfielder has all of the necessary attributes to grow into a City player. He is a precocious talent who seemingly has the world at his feet. After being named in Manchester City's travelling squad for today's friendly against Palermo, it is clear that Mukasa is likely to be the next young player to break through at Manchester City.
Manchester City does have a pathway to first-team football from the EDS system.
Three players have risen through the ranks of Manchester City's academy to become regular first-team players at the club. Phil Foden, Rico Lewis, and Oscar Bobb have taken that path. James Trafford is another who could be included on that list. Although, he spent two seasons at Burnley before returning to the Etihad this summer. James McAtee is another but he seems destined to leave the club. In the case of Foden, Lewis, and Bobb each player is technically superb. That has helped them break through at City. Divine Mukasa has technical quality in spades. That sets him up well to become a Manchester City player.
Divine Mukasa is an attacking midfielder. He is a creative force that was on full display last season. His ability to play in the pockets and create something out of nothing is exceptional. Mukasa can also score goals which makes him an infinitely more dangerous player. He is also physically imposing so playing against seasoned professionals at 17 years of age shouldn't be a massive shock to the system of Divine Mukasa.
Divine Mukasa could spend the 25/26 season training with the City first team to further develop.
Divine Mukasa looks ready to play at a higher level throughout the 25/26 season. At times he made it seem like he was a man playing against boys for Manchester City's under-18 side. It is clear to see that Mukasa needs to be tested at a higher level. The England youth international should move up to the City EDS side this season. He will also likely spend a significant time training with Pep Guardiola's squad. That should help him fulfil his obvious potential.
It isn't expected that Divine Mukasa will be a prominent player in Pep Guardiola's squad next season. But it won't be a surprise if and when he makes his first-team debut for Manchester City at some stage during the 25/26 season. His inclusion in Manchester City's travelling squad for today's match shows how highly he is regarded at City. Divine Mukasa looks set to be the next young player to break through at Manchester City. If and when that occurs will be something worth watching out for.

Tottenham Hotspur Have Set Their Sights On This Manchester City Playmaker: Good Option For Frank?

In a recent report, journalists Daniel Feliciano and Dean Jones stated that Tottenham Hotspur have set their sights on Manchester City playmaker James McAtee. It has been claimed that Spurs are eager to get a deal done for the English talent this summer. McAtee's Impressive Form In English Football McAtee managed to shine at times for Man City in the previous campaign when he put in a handful of eye-catching displays for them in the final third. The 22-year-old found the back of the net seven times in 27 matches for the Mancunian club last season across all fronts. The English attacker gave a good account of himself in the opposition half as he averaged 3.09 shots per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He kept 33.3% of his attempts on target. McAtee was even accurate when distributing the ball from midfield after making 80% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via His current contract at the Etihad Stadium will run out in the summer of 2026. Thus, Tottenham could potentially land him on a cut-price deal this off-season. (Photo by) Is McAtee A Good Option For Tottenham Hotspur Boss Thomas Frank? McAtee is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet and has got the vision to create a few meaningful openings for his teammates in the final third. He can shoot the ball with venom from long range and can chip in by scoring a few important goals for his team. The English sensation is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also operate as a box-to-box midfielder or as a right-sided wide player if told to do so by his manager. He has already got some experience in the Premier League and won't take much time to adjust to life at Tottenham. McAtee would undoubtedly enhance the quality of Spurs boss Thomas Frank's frontline in the long run. He has what it takes to fight for regular first-team football at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next season. At 22, McAtee has the potential to be a future star in English football as long as he continues to improve with each year. Therefore, he would be an excellent option for the North London club to pursue in this summer transfer window.

Barcelona look smooth in Como demolition as Ter Stegen buries hatchet

Reigning Spanish champions Barcelona completed their pre-season preparations by thrashing Italian side Como 5-0 on Sunday in a game which signalled a thawing of relations with goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen. Barca also gave Marcus Rashford a substitute's appearance two weeks after the England forward joined on loan from Manchester United. Double strikes from Fermín Lopez and Lamine Yamal and a first-half goal from Brazilian Raphinha completed the rout in the Joan Gamper Trophy. Played at the Johan Cruyff Stadium within the team's training complex, while Barcelona wait for the heavily delayed modernisation of the Camp Nou to be completed, Hansi Flick's team showed fluency as they prepare to begin their Liga title defence away to Mallorca on Saturday. Before kickoff on Sunday, Ter Stegen gave the traditional captain's speech from the pitch, just days after his dispute with the club over the handling of his back injury broke to the surface. "I think it was important to resolve the issue between the club and me, and now it's time to look forward," said the 33-year-old German goalkeeper, two days after having the captaincy restored. "We're going to fight again for all the trophies and we hope that with your help we can win all the titles possible," Ter Stegen told the fans. Rashford suffered mixed fortunes, providing the cross for Raphinha to score but also blowing the chance to tap into an empty net. bur-dam/cl/gj/bb
