Ludhiana shoe trader Gurvinder Singh Prinkle, who survived two murder attempts, accuses jailed gangster Rishav Benipal to be orchestrator.
Ludhiana: A Ludhiana shoe trader who survived a shooting attack last year has accused another armed assailant of attempting to kill him, alleging the plot was again orchestrated by jailed gangster Rishav Benipal. Gurvinder Singh Prinkle, 33, said a man carrying a pistol entered his Chandigarh Road shop on Thursday, minutes after he left, and threatened his workers before leaving. Prinkle alleged the intruder, identified on CCTV as Lakhbir Singh alias Lakhu Baba of Jalandhar's Lambra area, video-called someone to confirm he had missed him. Prinkle told police that Benipal — who allegedly shot him at his Khud Mohalla store in Nov 2024 — had sent Lakhbir to finish the job. Division Number 7 police lodged a case against Lakhbir, Benipal and six others under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) relating to abetment, attempted murder, conspiracy, intimidation and the Arms Act. "CCTV footage clearly shows Lakhbir entering with a pistol. He already faces several FIRs (first-information reports), including those for firing incidents," Station house officer (SHO) Bhupinder Singh said, adding that the roles of others named by Prinkle were under verification. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Could This NEW Collagen Blend Finally Reduce Your Cellulite? Previous Attack On Nov 8, 2024, Prinkle was shot seven times in his Khud Mohalla shop when Benipal and aide Sushil Kumar opened fire, disguised as customers with guns in carry bags. Prinkle fired back with his licensed pistol, injuring both attackers. Police arrested Benipal and Sushil later that evening while they sought medical help, and later nabbed an accomplice, Akash, with an illegal firearm. Investigators said the attack stemmed from a month-old argument in which Prinkle allegedly abused Benipal's mother over the phone. Ludhiana: Trader evades second murder bid; names gangster Benipal, his aides
Barely nine months after surviving a murder bid, city-based shoe trader Gurvinder Singh Prinkle has once again accused gangsters of plotting to kill him. Police have launched a probe and raids are underway to nab the suspects. (HT Photo) Prinkle, who was shot inside his Khud Mohalla shop in November 2024 allegedly by gangster Rishav Benipal and his associates, claimed that another criminal, Lakhbir Singh alias Lakhu Baba of Jalandhar, arrived at his Sector 32 shop this week carrying a pistol. Prinkle said the armed man entered the store minutes after he had left and, not finding him there, threatened his workers before walking out. The trader alleged that Lakhu Baba was acting at the behest of Benipal, who had earlier orchestrated the attack on him. 'Lakhbir even made a video call to inform someone that I was not present,' Prinkle said, adding that the incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed in the shop. Based on Prinkle's complaint, Division Number 7 police registered an FIR against Lakhbir Singh, gangster Rishav Benipal, and his aides — Inderjit Singh, Harpreet Singh, Gaganpreet Singh, Rajinderpal Singh, Sukhwinderpal Singh, and Shubham. They have been booked under Sections 55 (abetment to offence with murder), 61(2) (criminal conspiracy), 351(2) (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with relevant sections of the Arms Act. Prinkle, 33, who runs two footwear shops at Khud Mohalla and Sector 32, said he was present with his gunmen at his Chandigarh Road shop before leaving for other work. 'Within minutes of my exit, my staff called saying a man with a pistol had stormed in asking for me,' he said. SHO Sub-Inspector Bhupinder Singh confirmed that CCTV footage clearly showed Lakhbir holding a weapon. 'The accused has a criminal background and is already facing multiple FIRs for scuffles and firing incidents. The complainant has also named other individuals suspected of involvement, whose roles are being verified,' the officer said. Police have launched a probe and raids are underway to nab the suspects.

Ludhiana:Traders thrashed during Pahalgam attack protest
A demonstration by Ludhiana traders against the Pahalgam terrorist attack took a disturbing turn on Sunday when a group of unidentified individuals allegedly disrupted the protest with manhandling, threats, and the raising of pro-Pakistan slogans on Chandigarh Road. The incident near Sector 32 has prompted a police investigation and heightened local tensions. According to police reports, trader Arvind Kumar filed a complaint detailing how he and his friend Raman Kapoor organized the protest as a mark of outrage over the killings of pilgrims in Pahalgam. Their demonstration involved laying a Pakistani flag on Chandigarh Road for vehicles to symbolically drive over. However, the situation took a turn when the flag was allegedly removed during a brief absence of the organisers. Kapoor stated that upon their return and after placing the flag again, a turbaned man confronted them, objecting to their form of protest and physically assaulting him. The accused allegedly shouted pro-Pakistan slogans during the altercation. Shortly thereafter, another individual arrived in a car and further misbehaved with the protesting traders. As a crowd began to assemble, the accused managed to flee the scene. Kapoor, however, was able to note down the registration numbers of the vehicles involved and subsequently filed a formal complaint with the police. Assistant commissioner of police (ACP) East) Sumit Sood confirmed that following a preliminary investigation, the Division Number 7 police have registered a first information report (FIR) against the unidentified accused. The charges levied include multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS): Section 194(2) (committing affray), Section 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), Section 126(2) (wrongful restraint), Section 351(2) (criminal intimidation), and Section 3(5) (criminal act done by several persons in furtherance of common intention). The police have initiated a manhunt to identify and apprehend the accused individuals, and further investigations into the matter are currently underway.
