
Ludhiana: Man locks 75-yr-old out of his house in land grab bid, held

'Following the complaint the police swung into action and arrested the accused. The police found that the accused has a monetary issue with Harpreet Singh, son of the complainant. The accused claimed that Harpreet Singh had transferred the ownership of the house in his name, while the property was in the name of Narinder Singh,'said the ACP.
'The police found that the accused had made Harpreet Singh sign some blank documents and claimed that he had sold property to him,' he added.
An FIR under Sections 333, 329(3), 329 (4), 62, 351 (2) and 76 of BNS has been lodged against the accused at Division Number 7 police station. A hunt is on for the arrest of his accomplices.

Karnataka online scam: Three victims lose lakhs in forex, Telegram & gift frauds
A 33-year-old woman, Aruna , from Chitrapadi village in Brahmavar taluk, reportedly lost Rs 11.5 lakh in a trading scam. In her complaint, she stated that a woman named Aaradhya introduced herself as the CEO of Abhiram Exports and convinced her to invest in a forex trading company, promising high returns. Believing her, Aruna allegedly transferred a total of Rs 11.5 lakh in phases to various UPI IDs between 19 November 2024 and 28 April. The accused, however, neither invested the money in any trading firm nor returned it, cheating the complainant. A case was registered at Kota Police Station under Sections 66(C) and 66(D) of the IT Act. Rs 1.7 Lakh Lost in Telegram Scam A woman from Bantwal fell victim to an online scam after clicking on a Telegram link promising attractive daily earnings for sending messages. In her complaint, Divya, 27, said that on 8 August she received a link stating she could earn between Rs 180 and Rs 6,400 per day by sending Telegram messages. Believing the claim, she followed the instructions and transferred a total of Rs 1.76 lakh in phases between 8 and 13 August to the specified accounts. She was unable to withdraw any of the money. Murder accused with long criminal history injured in encounter, held
SAMBALPUR: A 42-year-old murder accused with long criminal history was injured in police encounter near Khandual here in the wee hours of Tuesday. Police identified the accused as Md Samad (42) of Motijharan in Dhanupali area. The encounter was carried out two days after Samad and his brother Md Wasim (35) allegedly stabbed a youth to death at Dhanupali. Briefing mediapersons, additional SP Srimanta Barik said Samad (42) and Wasim attacked one Asfaq Khan (30) with sharp weapons over past enmity and killed him at around 10 pm on Sunday. Following the murder, a case was registered in Dhanupali police station under sections 103 (1) and 3 (5) of BNS on basis of the complaint lodged by Asfaq's brother Jabij Khan. A special police team was formed to apprehend the accused. Based on intelligence inputs, the team tracked down Samad near Khandual. On being confronted, the accused fired two rounds at the police party. Exercising utmost restraint, police retaliated with controlled firing in which Samad sustained a gunshot injury to his left leg below the knee, Barik said.
