Busy Philipps Told Ben Affleck to 'Do Something!' During Oscars Best Picture Mixup: 'He Was Batman'
Busy Philipps and Michelle Williams recall what happened in the front row of the Dolby Theater on the night of the 2017 Oscars A mixup involving the Best Picture category saw actor Warren Beatty mistakenly announce La La Land as the winner over Moonlight The Girls5eva actress called upon a nearby Ben Affleck to save the day since he was BatmanBusy Philipps still remembers the traumatic best picture mixup that happened at the 2017 Oscars — and she expected Ben Affleck to save the day. While speaking to Michelle Williams, 44, during an episode of QVC+ HSN+ this week, the Girls5eva actress, 45, recalled witnessing possibly the most awkward Academy Awards moment to date. 'It's just hours and hours and you've barely had anything to drink, and you have nothing to eat. You're just out of it. You're there, just witnessing it, the chaos,' Philipps began, painting the scene at the 2017 Best Picture blunder. 'Which also makes sense that he said the wrong thing,' she added of Bonnie and Clyde star Warren Beatty mistakenly announcing La La Land as the Best Picture winner instead of Moonlight, which actually won. 'This crazy thing happens. We knew because we were right there in the front row,' Philipps said of herself, Williams and Affleck, 52, sitting together. Photos showed the group seemingly confused about what was happening during the moment. The White Chicks alum said it wasn't until her QVC+ HSN+ conversation with Williams that she remembered what she told Affleck in the midst of the mixup. 'You turned to him and said, 'Do something! Do something!', ' the Dying for Sex star told Philipps. Apparently her reasoning for expecting Affleck to know what to do was 'because he was Batman,' Williams said. 'And you expected he was going to save the day,' she added. Laughs were heard in the background off-camera as Philipps shook her head in agreement. 'That's right,' Philipps said, recalling that Matt Damon was also seated nearby at the time. 'I don't know Ben Affleck — I just was like, 'He's Batman, he's a movie star, he can go onstage and handle it!' ' 'He could not,' she added as Williams laughed. Philipps and the Dawson's Creek alum then recreated the photo of them 'that became very famous' of the three sitting in the audience as they watched the mix-up in real-time. In a 2017 Instagram Story, she explained, 'La La Land got up there, all of a sudden this stage manager or somebody who worked there with a microphone crouched in front of Casey [Affleck] and started whispering into his microphone really urgently and saying, 'It's a mistake! Moonlight is supposed to be Best Picture. It's a mistake! It's a mistake! Moonlight is Best Picture!' ' 'We all heard it right there — like right in the front,' Philipps added. 'Nobody else heard it.' While the Batman star didn't save the day, the snafu ended with the Moonlight cast being brought up to accept Hollywood's highest honor. Read the original article on People

Henry Winkler's daughter is giving a glimpse at what it was like to grow up with Fonzie as her father. On Monday night, Henry and his daughter, Zoe, attended the iHeartRadio Music Awards for a father-daughter outing while promoting her "What In The Winkler?" podcast. Fox News Digital spoke to Henry and Zoe on the red carpet, and Zoe talked about her podcast, explaining, "It's really just about family and how people assume that growing up in Hollywood is one way, but it's really just a normal family." "We go through all the same insanity as everybody else," she added, "and it's been the most fun." When Zoe was asked what it was like being raised by the "Happy Days" star, Henry cut in to joke, "She used me like a garden tool. She would not listen to me unless there was a nice young fellow in the vicinity." "I'm doing it now," Zoe interjected. "He came with me on a Monday to Dolby Theater to help me promote my podcast. So, I'm grateful." "She used me like a garden tool. She would not listen to me unless there was a nice young fellow in the vicinty." Zoe hosts her podcast with her mom, Stacey Winkler. The couple tied the knot in 1978. Henry met Stacey in 1976 at a Jerry Magnin clothing store in Beverly Hills. Social Rundown: All about the Oscars 2025
WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) — Welcome back to the Social Rundown, where you can learn about the online trends happening globally and in Texoma, too! Want to get the latest tea or news on what's trending on social media? Tune in daily! All about the 97th Academy Awards, aka the Oscars This year's Oscars have fans in a chokehold, and we understand why. And topping off the charts right now is about who won the Oscars and some of the best moments at this event that so many people look forward to. The Oscars 2025, held at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, will have fans in a chokehold. They honored the best movies released in 2024. Starting with 'Best Picture,' the winner is Anora. It is a comedy-drama film directed and produced by Sean Baker, who also won 'Best Director' for this film and 'Best Actress' for Miss Mikey Madison of Anora. So yes, Anora won big this year. From the storyline to the video shots, the acting, the lighting, and all around. Well done. Critics call longtime talk show host Conan O'Brien's opening monologue 'playful' with clever jokes about this year's films, a musical number where he performed a song that had him dancing with Deadpool and the Sandworm from the Dune. And he also had a funny bit where he made fun of Adam Sandler for not dressing up in formal clothes for the event. Another humorous moment on the show is when Adrien Brody walks up to receive his award. He turns around, tosses his gum back to his wife, and she catches it. Let's discuss Cynthia Erivo and how she belted us out of the building. That performance was just outstanding. Erivo and Ariana Grande are unbelievable singers and performers, but Cynthia Erivo shut that place down as they both sang 'Defying Gravity' from Wicked! Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc.
