Twisted Metal – Season 2 Episode 3 'T3STDRV' Recap & Review

T3STDRV Episode 3 of Twisted Metal season 2 begins with a look at Mr. Grimm, who appears to be a soul-stealer, digging up corpses and ingesting their essence, courtesy of an ethereal blue glow. However, later on we see that this glow is only really seen by Grimm himself, and not by those around him, throwing into question just how mystical he actually is. Anyway, Grimm digs up his old motorcycle, thanks his pa, and rides off into the night. We're two days out from the tournament, and en-route to Diesel City, Quiet and John Doe catch up. It doesn't last for long, as Quiet wants a personal Michelle Branch karaoke sesh, and tricks John into riding with Dollface instead. However, Quiet's plan is interrupted when she realizes Mayhem is stowing away in the trunk of her car. She's the girl who tried to intrude on the Dolls last episode, and apparently she's the best driver and wants to be part of the tournament. Of course, this is all one big bluff, as Mayhem can't even drive, let alone compete. Quiet takes pity on the girl after her hilarious attempt to 'ride away', and eventually teaches her how to drive. While these two share some amusing banter, elsewhere John and Dollface improve their sibling bond by taking a trip down memory lane. They head to the Millennium Drive In, which they actually attended as kids back in the day. Dollface wants to try and trigger some of his old memories, but unfortunately, they trigger an ambush, as Axel (a human-car hybrid complete with two giant wheels either side of him) rocks up and hunts them down. John and Dollface soon bump into its creator, Dr Zemo, who brags about his plans to fuse human with car. He makes a point of explaining that this isn't racially motivated, before they kill the guy. In doing so, this allows Axel to go free, who rides off into the sunset. Speaking of hunting, Mr Grimm tracks down Ashley and Jeremy, who are currently getting freaky on the road. Both are killed, with the latter murdered right in front of Ashley and Quiet as he flees down the street. Ashley and Quiet drive off quickly, singing together to combat their nerves, leaving Axel and Mr Grimm to fight each other. The group are eventually reunited though, as they pay their respects to Jeremy and Ashley. They do so right on the crest of a hill, overlooking Diesel City where they intend to get their superweapon! The Episode Review So Twisted Metal rounds out the trio of episodes released today with an action-packed and well written chapter, one that helps cement the stakes and bond our quartet together. Sweet Tooth is noticeably absent though, so we don't get much bloody action across these three chapters, but instead we get more context around Mr Grimm whose backstory has a decent amount of attention given to it. It's still unclear right now whether there's actually supernatural powers surrounding Grimm or whether this is all inside his head, but one thing's for sure – he's not messing about. The comedy is on-point here too, and hopefully this is a sign of things to come for the chapters ahead. Roll on next weeks episode! Twisted Metal – Season 2 Episode 1 'PRSRPNT' Recap & Review

PRSRPNT Episode 1 of Twisted Metal season 2 kicks off in San Jose, California. We're back in 1998 where we see a young Raven rock up at a graduation party with her friend (see: lover) Kelly. They're teased by the other kids as Raven goes through her tarot cards, which quickly changes the mood of the party entirely. However, the prank the pair have concocted takes a turn for the worst when Kelly hits her head and falls in the pool. When Raven finds out, she races outside but it's too late – her friend is found face-down in the pool. Back in the present, in New San Francisco, John Doe is kept under lock and key. John is forced to practice his driving skills (using an arcade machine playing Twisted Metal!) while continuing to eke out a living as a delivery driver. He amusingly uses the alias of John Dough but John is kept under tight wraps. John is eventually reprimanded by Raven though, as she reminds him that he needs to get his act together. The only way out of this is to drive to survive (no pun intended) and help save Kelly. Meanwhile, Dollface, Quiet, and the other Dolls continue to hit supply lines, desperate to take down the City. They're determined to upset the status quo and set out to destroy the Wall of the City to redistribute wealth to those outside. They way they intend to do this, as Quiet suggests toward the end of the episode, is to compete in a winner-takes-all tournament. The idea of death and survival segues us nicely into Sweet Tooth and Stu, who we catch up with out maiming and killing. Stu is still a student in the academy of Sweet Tooth killing, and hasn't got his degree just yet, but the pair are determined to kill the more fearsome killers and claim that accolade for themselves. On the hunt, the pair learn about the legend of Big Baby, a man who apparently wiped out an entire town in one day and is the most infamous killer in these parts. Sweet Tooth and Stu eventually catch up with this guy, who certainly lives up to his name. He has an umbilical cord with a mace attached on the end, which he use as a weapon. While he fights with Sweet Tooth, Stu and the mum fight together. The pair easily thwart the killers… only to find out there's an even bigger killer out there called the Trash Man. He's the biggest killer this side of the Mississippi. Instead of playing whac-A-Mole and taking these killers out one at a time, Sweet Tooth leaves Stu with a plan to bring all the killers to them. Grounded, John Doe has no choice but to sit down with some quality reading material. That, of course, stems from The Babysitters Club series. When John fails to find Volume 89, he hunts upstairs and finds the volume… carved out and stashing weed inside. John also finds a diary with a secret map that could be his way out of this. One of the guards (who isn't the sharpest tool in the shed) helps John escape too. They switch clothes in order to do so, and John Doe manages to slip out undetected. In the parking lot, he finds an ambulance sporting Kelly inside, who's still alive but comatose and on life support. All of these loose threads are connected together by a special broadcast set out by Calypso. He's hosting a tournament and wants everybody to attend. In a week's time it'll begin with a battle of survival. Whoever wins will get one wish granted, no matter what it may be. As the episode closes out, John is stopped on his way out the city driving the ambulance by the dolls. On the road, they flip the ambulance and Quiet winds up shooting him in the shoulder. John is not happy when he finds out Quiet is the one who's hit the kill shot. However, in a nice little twist, it appears that Dollface may actually be John's sister. Before leaving, he's sure to drop off Kelly and her life-support machine in the parking lot, much to the relief of Raven. Well, until she notices a ripped page from the diary in her hand. The Episode Review So Twisted Metal is back and this crazy comedic drama wastes no time picking up right where the action left off. The familiar comedic beats, mixed in with the gory drama, works just as effectively here as it did the first time around, with everything gearing up for this big tournament. Understanding more about Raven's history is definitely a nice touch, while the show does well to keep things interesting – at the moment anyway – as it's unclear who's going to come out of this in one piece. Twisted Metal has all the ingredients to be just as insane as season 1, so we'll have to wait and see where this one goes next. Twisted Metal – Season 2 Episode 2 'DOLF4C3' Recap & Review

DOLF4C3 Episode 2 of Twisted Metal season 2 begins ten years ago with Dollface staging a coup with a bunch of other women, who are forced out from sitting with the boys. They're relegated to the back, where it becomes apparent that these guys are actually calling the shots. They sit and smoke weed together, until Dollface propositions the girls and they work to usurp the men in the other room who are more preoccupied with dick measuring contests (quite literally too, given the tape measure we see at the table!) It doesn't take long for the girl to kick the guys out, gunning them down in bloody glory. Back in the present, John awakens to find himself chained to a bed in the Dollface camp. Quiet and John are reunited here, as is Krista (Dollface) who calls John by the name of Lionel and confirms that she's his sister. John has amnesia though and awkwardly embraces her when he finds out. Dollface soon shows him around the whole camp, including showcasing exactly what they have brewing – and what they intend to do. Quiet encourages John to open up and not cut himself off afterwards, pointing out how standoffish he's being with his sister. However, cutting himself off is precisely what John wants right now, as he propositions Quiet with heading off to a remote cabin together where they can live happily ever after. Quiet though is adamant that she wants to join the tournament and she's going to win. When she does, her wish will be to break the Walls down – Chris Jericho style. John believes she's been brainwashed and confronts his sister about this, but Dollface is quick to reinforce that all of this was obviously Quiet's choice. John decides to step up and compete with both Ashley and Quiet for the opportunity to lead the Dolls in this tournament. Quiet drives really well and ultimately comes out on top. John is conflicted as Quiet is different from the one he's come to know in season 1. John eventually swallows his pride and offers her some encouraging words, thanks in part to his sister's wisdom, and Quiet eventually allows him to join her during the tournament. However, they need some good weapons to stand a chance, so that means driving on over to Diesel City. As the episode closes out, we cut across to Blackfield Asylum, where a letter arrives for Mr. Grimm. He's encouraged to drive on behalf of Calypso. 'We will,' He replies, picking up his helmet. The Episode Review So the second episode focuses almost exclusively on John and Quiet, as their long-awaited reunion takes place but it doesn't quite go to plan. Quiet is a very different person now and that much is especially true when you consider how she's bonded with the Dolls and found purpose with them. The ending to the episode does a good job bringing back some of the old magic that John and Quiet had though, with their banter in particular working to rekindle some of the crackling chemistry we saw in season 1. With Grimm entering this tournament, not to mention the wildcard of Sweet Tooth and Stu, we'll have to wait and see exactly what's in store for our titular characters next. Either way, it's going to be a bloody good time! Previous Episode Next Episode Expect A Full Season Write-Up When This Season Concludes!

5 best shows to watch like 'Too Much' on Netflix, HBO Max and more

Netflix's newest romantic comedy series is "Too Much" from "Girls" creator Lena Dunham. The streaming service dropped this new show on July 10, and it has landed decent reviews (81% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes). TG's Malcolm McMillan said the show was "one of [his] favorite binge-watches this year" so far, and it's just recently crept into the Netflix top 10 shows list, too. With that in mind, it felt like a good time to highlight a selection of follow-up shows like "Too Much" for when fans get to the end of the whirlwind romance between Jessica (Meg Stalter) and Felix (Will Sharpe). Here are five shows like "Too Much" I think you should stream after watching bingeing it and where you can watch them right now. Jordan Weiss's "Dollface" is, like "Too Much," a show that sees our protagonist (Jules, played by Kat Dennings) being unlucky in love. After being abruptly dumped by her longtime boyfriend, web designer Jules sets out to reconnect with her two best friends (Brenda Song, Shay Mitchell) and reenter the world beyond her relationship ... with a little help from her out-there imagination. I streamed both seasons shortly after season 2 premiered in 2022, and came away having thoroughly enjoyed this offbeat watch. Sadly, it was one of many series kicked off Hulu & Disney Plus during a "cost-cutting" initiative, but it's worth seeking out all the same. Buy/rent "Dollface" on Prime Video now Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. "Love Life" was one of the first things I thought about revisiting the minute I finished "Too Much", and it definitely feels like a worthy follow-up. Created for HBO Max by Sam Boyd, "Love Life" is an anthology show that follows a different person each season as they navigate the highs and lows of modern dating. The first series revolves around Darby Carter (Anna Kendrick), while the second follows Marcus Watkins (William Jackson Harper). Similar to "Dollface," "Love Life" was removed from its original streaming home, but, at the time of writing, it's actually available to stream for free. If you were on the hunt for a new show and didn't want to shell out for another streamer, this would be my pick. Watch 'Love Life' for free on Tubi now If you were on Netflix at some point towards the end of 2024, then you must have come across "Nobody Wants This," the streamer's acclaimed, incredibly charming series starring Kristen Bell and Adam Brody. And if you haven't streamed it yet, prepare to fall head over heels for Erin Foster's brilliant rom-com. "Nobody Wants This" centers on the incredibly unlikely relationship struck up between two very different people: an unconventional rabbi fresh out of a committed relationship (Brody), and an agnostic woman who co-hosts a sex and relationship podcast with her sister (Bell). After being introduced at a dinner party, sparks fly between the pair, but they come from different worlds, have different outlooks, and face plenty of roadblocks to romance. How can this possibly work out? You'll have to stream it and see. And when you do fall in love with the show, you can join me in fondly looking forward to streaming "Nobody Wants This" season 2 later this year. Watch "Nobody Wants This" on Netflix now Tudum highlights "Survival of the Thickest" as one of Netflix's top feel-good watches, and I'm pretty confident that viewers who enjoyed "Too Much" will also enjoy seeing Mavis take on the world. Created by and starring Michelle Buteau, the series follows Mavis Beaumont (Buteau), a 38-year-old stylist who dreams of taking the fashion world by storm along with her longtime photographer and boyfriend, Jacque (Taylor Selé). When she stumbles upon Jacque in bed with another woman, Mavis' world is turned upside down. However, with the support of her friends, she commits to securing her break on her terms, no matter what the world throws her way. Watch 'Survival of the Thickest' on Netflix now Mindy Kaling and Justin Noble's HBO Max campus comedy "The Sex Lives of College Girls" could be another solid follow-up worth considering, if you've got access to HBO Max. Premiering in 2021, this ensemble series follows four 18-year-old freshmen at New England's prestigious Essex College. There, we meet four new randomly assigned roommates — Kimberly (Pauline Chalamet), Bela (Amrit Kaur), Leighton (Reneé Rapp), and Whitney (Alyah Chanelle Scott) — who spend their time on campus navigating their new lives and all the drama, freedoms and trials that college life brings. Shay Mitchell, Ashley Benson and Troian Bellisario reunite to celebrate 15 years of 'Pretty Little Liars'

Shay Mitchell has thrilled fans with a nostalgic Instagram photo carousel in honour of the 15th anniversary of Pretty Little Liars. The series, which premiered on ABC Family (now Freeform) in June 2010, became a global hit and launched Mitchell's career as Emily Fields. In a post captioned 'Pretty Little Time Capsule. Somehow it's been 15 years since we all started lying professionally… ,' Mitchell shared 19 throwback images, including a new selfie with co-stars Ashley Benson and Troian Bellisario. The three appeared side-by-side in all-black outfits, smiling warmly for fans. Lucy Hale, another lead from the series, was not present in the reunion shot but commented to show support. Other images in the collection included behind-the-scenes moments, cast celebrations, and archived promotional content from the show's early days. Mitchell, who has since gone on to appear in series like You and Dollface, has also built a successful brand with her luxury luggage line BÉIS. Her co-stars have similarly pursued diverse projects: Hale has starred in films such as Truth or Dare and The Hating Game; Benson has appeared in multiple TV and music video roles; Bellisario most recently starred in On Call, released on Prime Video in January.
