The teaser trailer for Weapons shows a number of children fleeing their homes in writer-director Zach Cregger's horror feature. Warner Bros. releases the film in theaters Aug. 8. 'Those kids walked out of the homes,' a character says somberly via voiceover in the trailer. 'No one pulled them out. No one forced them.' Cregger, Roy Lee, J.D. Lifshitz, Raphael Margules and Miri Yoon serve as producers. In early 2023, The Hollywood Reporter reported that New Line won a fierce bidding war for Cregger's spec script for Weapons, with the filmmaker landing eight figures to write and direct. Led by Georgina Campbell, Bill Skarsgard and Justin Long, Barbarian hit theaters in 2022 and became a cult hit, surpassing $45 million at the global box office. Cregger hit the CinemaCon stage in Las Vegas earlier this month to share the first footage from Weapons. During the presentation, New Line boss Richard Brener described the movie as 'intriguing and unpredictable, with a nice helping of batshit insane.' The director got his start in Hollywood as a member of the comedy group The Whitest Kids U' Know, and his acting credits include starring roles on the series Dads With Kids and Wrecked. Next up, Cregger is writing and directing a reboot of the Resident Evil franchise, with THR reporting last month that the film is eyeing Weapons star Abrams for the lead. Comedy ‘Don't Tell Larry,' Led by ‘She-Hulk' Actress Patty Guggenheim, Gets Summer Release (Exclusive)
Dark workplace comedy feature Don't Tell Larry is hoping to start conversations this summer. The indie film from directors Greg Porper (Worst Birthday Ever) and John Schimke (Red Table Talk) has been acquired by Level 33 Entertainment, which is set to launch international sales at the Cannes Film Festival and release the movie theatrically June 20. Leading the cast are Patty Guggenheim, Ed Begley Jr., Dot-Marie Jones, Kenneth Mosley and Kiel Kennedy. The trailer, which is exclusive to The Hollywood Reporter, shows Susan going into panic mode when she suspects that Larry may have had something to do with the death of their co-worker (Begley). 'We need to get Larry fired,' Susan declares in the footage. The movie, which collected best comedy and audience choice honors at the Pasadena Film Festival, began its life as a web series. Directors Porper and Schimke made the film during the pandemic and funded it in part by selling off personal assets. The movie's team is using meme-focused marketing to spread the word, along with an AI chatbot version of the title character and a fake company website. Level 33 CEO Andreas Olavarria praises Don't Tell Larry as 'a story full of laughs and thrills we believe audiences everywhere will enjoy.' Guggenheim had a role on the Marvel series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law and has more recently recurred on the series Matlock, The Spiderwick Chronicles and iCarly.
