Donald Trump Commutes Life Sentence of Former Chicago Gang Leader Larry Hoover

President Donald Trump has commuted the sentence of Larry Hoover, as the former Chicago gang leader was set to spend the rest of his years behind bars in Colorado. Trump has dished out quite a few pardons in recent weeks while in the Oval Office, and he commuted the multiple life sentences of the Gangster Disciples' founder on Wednesday (May 28), according to the Chicago Sun–Times. Federal prosecutors accused the drug kingpin of running a 'criminal enterprise' from behind bars, which helped him still oversee gang activities while imprisoned. Hoover was hit with 40 additional charges and found guilty in 1997. Ye (formerly Kanye West), who is a Chicago native, has long advocated for Hoover's freedom. He spoke about Hoover during a White House visit with Trump in 2018 and then headlined the Free Larry Hoover Benefit Concert with Drake in December 2021 at the Coliseum in Los Angeles. West was overjoyed to learn that Trump commuted Hoover's sentences. 'WORDS CAN'T EXPRESS MY GRATITUDE FOR OUR DEVOTED ENDURING PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP FOR FREEING LARRY HOOVER,' he wrote to X on Wednesday. Ye even showed love to Drake for joining him onstage in 2021. 'Thank you to Drake for helping to bring Larry Hoover home,' Yeezy added. West gave Larry Hoover's son, Larry Hoover Jr., a guest appearance on his 2021 Donda album and shouted out Hoover on 'Jesus Lord' as well as Vultures 2's 'River.' Hoover Jr. also joined Ye during his Drink Champs interview in 2021. Hoover has continued to petition for a criminal sentence, and U.S. District Judge John Blakey heard a mercy bid from the former gang leader in 2024. 'We did what so many said was impossible,' Hoover's attorney, Justin Moore, told the Sun-Times. 'We got Larry Hoover out of federal prison.' Kanye West Declares Retirement From One of His Insensitive Antics and Asks For Forgiveness, Know What It's About

Kanye West proclaimed on May 22 through social media that he has abandoned antisemitism. He went to ask for forgiveness for the damage he had caused through his actions. Ye said that he is driven by a new passion to take in love and peace, apparently prompted by a FaceTime conversation with a call from his children. For the Donda rapper, it was a reminder of his role to be a force for good in the world. "I am done with antisemitism," he wrote in a series of X posts, adding, "I love all people. God forgive me for the pain I've caused. I forgive those who have caused me pain. Thank you, God." This statement comes after a series of inciting language and behavior that attracted broad condemnation. The rapper's antisemitic comments started picking up global attention in 2022. In October that year, he showed up at Paris Fashion Week dressed in a "White Lives Matter" top before then sharing threats aimed at the Jewish population. The reaction was swift, resulting in severed relationships with big firms like Adidas, Gap, Balenciaga, and Universal Music Group. West tweeted, "I simply got a FaceTime from my kids and I wanna save the world again…," adding, "GOD CALLS FOR PEACE. Share peace. Share love." Despite Ye's recent social media updates claiming a change of heart, there is high skepticism, especially with civil rights groups. According to Billnoars, the Anti-Defamation League reacted to his words by stating they have great doubt, given his track record of retracting statements. The group stressed, "Sorry, but we're not buying it. We've seen this kind of attempted apology from Kanye before, only for him to back down over and over again." Ye 's record since 2023 has shown a trend of concerning behavior. He had earlier attempted to peddle merchandise bearing Nazi symbols and made pro-Hitler statements. He has also attempted to drop a song about Hitler, which was said to have been censored by streaming sites. More controversy necessitated the postponement of Kanye West's concert in South Korea, as organizers blamed continued public outcry. While he professes to reform, not many are buying it, citing continuing provocation and a history of erratic behavior.

Kanye West Receiving ‘Treatment' at ‘Retreat' in Spain Approved By His Doctor: Court Docs

Kanye West is currently receiving treatment at a retreat in Spain and will continue to until the end of the month, In Touch can exclusively report. Ye's lawyer, Eduardo Martorell, revealed the news as part of the musician's court battle with his former employee Benjamin Provo. As In Touch first reported, Ye, 47, was ordered to be deposed by Benjamin after months of back and forth. In the new filing on Tuesday, May 20, Ye's new attorney claimed the entertainer was 'unequivocally offered to appear for deposition today, with one accommodation – that it be taken remotely. That was it. No further conditions were attached.' Ye's lawyer claimed Benjamin and his legal team refused to proceed with a remote deposition. In the filing, Ye's lawyer said the musician's doctor 'of the past nine years specifically stated within a letter that, in his medical opinion, Ye should continue to receive treatment at a retreat he is attending until the end of May in Mallorca, Spain and that any depositions should be taken remotely.' Ye and his wife, Bianca Censori, have been spotted around Spain for weeks. In addition, Ye's lawyer said the owner of the retreat Ye is attending 'also recommend via written letter that [Ye] stay at the retreat.' His lawyer argued, 'Once more, other than requesting the accommodation that the deposition take place remotely, Defendant Ye was willing, ready, and able to appear for his deposition today. Despite the fact [Benjamin's] counsel refused to enter into a protective order. Despite the fact he was at a retreat. Despite the fact he is 10,000 miles away." Ye said Benjamin also canceled the deposition of Bianca, 30, only 15 minutes prior to the deposition. His lawyer noted, 'Thus, Ms. Censori spent significant time preparing, blocked her schedule, and was dressed and prepared for deposition." As In Touch first reported, Benjamin accused Ye and his companies of wrongful termination and discrimination. He claimed he was hired in 2021 to work as a security guard for Ye's Donda Academy. Benjamin claimed Ye gave him more duties over time. In court documents, Benjamin alleged Ye had a disdain towards black authors and employees. The complaint claimed, 'Specifically, in or around mid-2023, Kanye required that anyone associated with Donda dispose of books related to Martin Luther King, Jr., Malcolm X and other prominent figures in the Black community. Further, Kanye regularly expressed negative beliefs associated with prominent Black leaders that advocated for or sought to advance the Black community. Such offensive opinions were particularly troubling to [Benjamin], who is unapologetically Black.' Benjamin claimed Ye treated his non-Black employees differently than his Black employees. The suit added, 'While Kanye was polite and attentive to his non-Black counterparts, Kanye was always abrupt, abrasive and demeaning of [Benjamin] and his Black counterparts.' Benjamin claimed he was pressured to cut off his dreadlocks, which he wears for his Muslim faith. He claimed to have been terminated due to his refusal. Ye and his companies denied all allegations of wrongdoing. Ye's lawyer argued, 'Defendants are informed and believe, and based on such information and belief allege that Defendants were justified in doing any and/or all of the acts alleged in the Complaint.' The case is ongoing.

Piers Morgan slams 'snivelling little coward' Kanye West in furious rant

Kanye West sat down with Piers Morgan for a chat on his Piers Morgan Uncensored channel, but things quickly went south and the rapper quickly exited the interview Kanye West's latest appearance on Piers Morgan Uncensored was short lived as the controversial rapper sensationally stormed off the chat. Piers' upload was only 17 minutes long, but the presenter labelled him a "coward" as he walked out on the interview. In the latest chat, Piers described how "only a few minutes in, things turn sour…" before claiming it was a "farce". ‌ Ye almost immediately hit out at Piers after the presenter incorrectly commented on how may followers he has on Twitter /X. ‌ The irritated rapper, who has four children by Kim Kardashian, told Piers: "Your information is correct…I'm a gift, bro. "I mean, why do all you people in media act like you haven't played my songs at your weddings or graduations or at funerals, and when your child was born, you know, you take somebody that's living like a [John] Lennon, a Michael Jackson, and you just take all this time to, like that nuance right there, it's idiotic. "It just shows the hate that you put out for people that put love. There's so much love in the art I put out.' A confused Piers asked what he was talking about, before Ye told him: "We can circle back when you can count." ‌ After that, Ye left the chat abruptly just two minutes in. Piers tried to get answers from Ye's pal Sneako, before he too exited. Piers told him: 'Tell him from me he's a snivelling, little coward, and he's an antisemite and a Hitler worshipper. That's what I would have asked him if he'd had the balls to sit there and take the questions.' Proceedings began with the rapper legally known as Ye taking umbrage at Piers using the surname 'West' in his opening scene-setting intro, correcting the award-winning broadcaster - who clearly addressed him as 'Ye' in his first question. Ye said: 'I don't use the term West, you know, the whole drop the slave name idea?' ‌ The dropped interview comes after the former Good Morning Britain host took to Instagram to tease the Donda star's appearance earlier in the day. He uploaded an image of an unhappy-looking Kanye to his social media platofrm and wrote: "UPDATE: I interviewed Kanye West again today. "As I expected, given what I've said about him recently, it didn't last long or go well. This was him right before he stomped off like a big baby before I could ask him why he's become a vile, Hitler-loving, Nazi-slathering, anti-Semitic prick. Drops on @piersmorganuncensored later… " It's not the first run-in Piers and that artist legally known as Ye have had over the years. In 2022, Ye sat down for a chat with Piers on TalkTV. At the time, the duo were involved in a heated discussion in front of the cameras. ‌ As both stars refused to hold back, they both tried to get their points across in an interview which lasted over two hours. However, things seems to prove too much in one instance, with the Donda hitmaker walking out of the filming midway through. Piers claimed at the time that Ye's walk-out had left his team facing "quite a struggle to come and get him back". The singer did eventually return, with Piers admitting he was glad the musician did come back. Piers had labelled Ye racist, 'horribly homophobic' and 'pro-Hitler' in the previous chat.
