Kanye West Declares Retirement From One of His Insensitive Antics and Asks For Forgiveness, Know What It's About

Kanye West proclaimed on May 22 through social media that he has abandoned antisemitism. He went to ask for forgiveness for the damage he had caused through his actions.
Ye said that he is driven by a new passion to take in love and peace, apparently prompted by a FaceTime conversation with a call from his children. For the Donda rapper, it was a reminder of his role to be a force for good in the world.
"I am done with antisemitism," he wrote in a series of X posts, adding, "I love all people. God forgive me for the pain I've caused. I forgive those who have caused me pain. Thank you, God."
This statement comes after a series of inciting language and behavior that attracted broad condemnation. The rapper's antisemitic comments started picking up global attention in 2022.
In October that year, he showed up at Paris Fashion Week dressed in a "White Lives Matter" top before then sharing threats aimed at the Jewish population. The reaction was swift, resulting in severed relationships with big firms like Adidas, Gap, Balenciaga, and Universal Music Group.
West tweeted, "I simply got a FaceTime from my kids and I wanna save the world again…," adding, "GOD CALLS FOR PEACE. Share peace. Share love."
Despite Ye's recent social media updates claiming a change of heart, there is high skepticism, especially with civil rights groups. According to Billnoars, the Anti-Defamation League reacted to his words by stating they have great doubt, given his track record of retracting statements. The group stressed, "Sorry, but we're not buying it. We've seen this kind of attempted apology from Kanye before, only for him to back down over and over again."
Ye 's record since 2023 has shown a trend of concerning behavior. He had earlier attempted to peddle merchandise bearing Nazi symbols and made pro-Hitler statements. He has also attempted to drop a song about Hitler, which was said to have been censored by streaming sites.
More controversy necessitated the postponement of Kanye West's concert in South Korea, as organizers blamed continued public outcry. While he professes to reform, not many are buying it, citing continuing provocation and a history of erratic behavior.

Movie Review: Ron Howard's 'Eden' brings 1920s chaos on a Galápagos island to life

Ron Howard's 'Eden' opens with a bold statement: 'Fascism is spreading.' Movie Review: Ron Howard's 'Eden' brings 1920s chaos on a Galápagos island to life It'll surely carry weight in modern society, but the phrase is referencing events from nearly a century ago. Based on a true story, 'Eden' retraces what happened when a group of Europeans attempted to start anew on the remote island of Floreana, only to encounter the earthly failings they hoped to escape: chaos, blackmail, betrayal and even murder. Howard assembles an impressive cast, though it isn't always enough to make up for the overambitious plot of a film that drags in the middle. 1920s Germany, haunted after accepting blame for World War I, was on the brink of demise, as mass poverty and broad social unrest laid ground for the extremism that birthed the Nazi party. 'Eden' shows us none of that, instead dropping us on a small island of the Galápagos, where Dr. Friedrich Ritter and his loyal partner, Dore Strauch Ritter found solace after fleeing their native country. The idealist doctor is inspired by a newfound purpose of penning radical philosophy that will 'save humanity from itself.' Yet the historical resonance, which could have provided pointed commentary on the parallels between today and the 1920s, falls flat amid the film's overlong runtime, unlikable characters and shaky accents that most actors stumble in and out of. In the midst of the film's crafted chaos, the story inevitably loses focus. Still, 'Eden' made room for some memorable performances. More adventurists eventually arrive on the island, and just like that, human interaction starts to breed madness. The doctor's philosophical work has spread through letters and newspapers across Europe, attracting settlers like Heinz Wittmer, a veteran of the Great War played by Daniel Brühl, and his much younger second wife Margaret, played by Sydney Sweeney. The Ritters' quiet isolation is disrupted by the couple, who arrive with Wittmer's young son, chasing the promise of an island utopia to ease their deep disillusionment with everyday reality. The tension between the two groups further exacerbates when Eloise Bosquet de Wagner Wehrhorn , who calls herself the Baroness, arrives with her two lovers, determined to build a resort on the island. What results is a cat-and-mouse game between the three groups, ripe with betrayal, distrust and tension. The battle for resources exposes just how much of their morality these people are willing to give up for survival, at least attempting to — but never fully succeeding — in addressing the question: When do people bend to human instinct? The film lacks depth in exploring questions of morality and human nature while depicting Ritter's lofty goals to save humanity. His philosophy spirals into madness throughout the film, reduced to brief, sometimes painful and surface level sound bites that eventually devolve into incoherent ramblings. The movie is at its most compelling when its three female actors are on the screen. Different motivations bring them to the island, each of which ultimately centers on the same blind faith in the idea of the masculine leader. They all end up vastly disappointed. Dore is consumed by an unwavering devotion for Ritter, a man who never lives up to the image she's crafted in her mind. Margaret, having married an older man expecting guidance, is instead forced to build her family's future from the ground up, only to fight tooth and nail to preserve it after her husband nearly destroys them. And the Baroness, who confidently declares herself 'the embodiment of perfection,' oozing with seduction, ultimately crumbles at the rejection of a man. Arguably, Sweeney — who is almost unrecognizable as the timid and brunette Margaret — steals the show. She easily delivers the most impactful scene of the movie, as she was forced to give birth to a baby boy alone in the middle of the desolate island. It's not hard to guess who won't makes it off the island, either by choice or by force. It is a true story after all. The bloody ending feels unavoidable from the beginning, almost as predictable as human nature itself. But maybe that was the point all along. 'Eden,' a Vertical release in theaters Friday, is rated R by the Motion Picture Association for 'some strong violence, sexual content, graphic nudity and language.' Running time: 129 minutes. Two and half stars out of four. This article was generated from an automated news agency feed without modifications to text.

She was the first Indian star to own a Rolls-Royce car. Raj Kapoor's co-star passed away alone

Remember the yesteryear siren who shook her legs to the sensuous song 'Mud Mud Ke Na Dekh Mud Mud Ke' in the Raj Kapoor-starrer ' Shree 420 '? Florence Ezekiel , aka the luminous Nadira, captured the Indian audience's attention as Maya, a sultry temptress, in the 1955 blockbuster. Nadira made a name for herself as Bollywood's first vamp. At her peak, she was known for essaying bold, unapologetic women living on the edge. A Childhood Rooted in Mumbai Biographical accounts note that Nadira was born on December 5, 1932, in Baghdad, Iraq, to a Baghdadi Jewish family. Her family, led by her father, Ezekiel, moved to Bombay (now Mumbai) when she was still an infant, seeking better opportunities in business. As documented by early film records, Nadira entered cinema in 1943 as a child performer in Mauj at the tender age of 10 or 11. Mehboob Khan's Recognition Her real breakthrough came when Sardar Akhtar, the wife of acclaimed filmmaker Mehboob Khan, noticed her potential. As chronicled in Mehboob Khan's studio archives, Nadira was offered the role of a Rajput princess in Aan (1952). Sharing screen space with the legendary Dilip Kumar, this debut established her as an actress of substance. Film scholars often note that this collaboration with Mehboob Khan placed her in the right circle at a pivotal moment in cinema, years before Khan would immortalize himself with Mother India. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like This Could Be the Best Time to Trade Gold in 5 Years IC Markets Learn More Undo Shree 420 and the Burden of Typecasting Raj Kapoor 's offer to play Maya in Shree 420 shaped her identity in cinema forever. Contemporary reviews from the 1950s reveal that Nadira accepted the role eagerly because it meant working with Kapoor, a dream for any young actress of that era. Although she wanted to be a heroine, her portrayal of Maya was so impactful that it left her typecast as the eternal vamp. In later interviews, as reported by mainstream media, Nadira admitted that while she had accepted the role as a challenge, it ultimately became her 'Waterloo,' since filmmakers continued offering her similar characters. 'I took up Shree 420 for a lark but it became my Waterloo. I took up the role as a challenge, to prove my versatility, and it ruined my career," she said. A Life of Glamour and Wealth During her career, Nadira appeared in nearly 73 films. According to industry anecdotes, she was larger than life not just on-screen but off-screen as well. She was known for her fondness for expensive cars and fine liquor, and she became the first Indian actor to purchase a Rolls Royce, as per a Mid Day report. Solitude and Final Years Nadira's last appearance came in Josh (2000), alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Following her retirement, she chose a solitary life. According to reports in Mumbai dailies, she never married and remained in her flat with the support of her domestic help after her family migrated abroad. Her final years were marked by declining health, with conditions such as tubercular meningitis, alcoholic liver disorder, and paralysis. As reported by hospital records and media outlets, Nadira passed away in 2006 at the age of 73, leaving behind a legacy that redefined how Indian cinema viewed the archetype of the vamp.
