Athletics-Italian Doualla, 15, wins European U-20 100m gold in 11.22 seconds
(Reuters) -Fifteen-year-old Italian Kelly Doualla stormed to victory in the women's 100 metres at the European Under-20 Athletics Championships in Tampere, Finland on Friday, clocking 11.22 seconds. In chilly conditions, Doualla let out a jubilant roar after crossing the line to claim gold, having also set European Under-18 bests this year in the 100m (11.21) and indoor 60m (7.23). Born in 2009 to Cameroonian parents, Doualla was inspired by Jamaican Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, the twice Olympic 100m champion. "My mum is a big fan of Fraser-Pryce, so my middle name is also Ann," Doualla said. "I have always been following her since my childhood. "I am very excited for this result. I was very emotional in the finish because it was a very important competition for me." (Reporting by Shifa Jahan in Bengaluru, editing by Ed Osmond)
