Minister Ponguleti hands over 592 homes to women as Raksha Bandhan gifts

Minister for Revenue and Housing Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy alleged that the BRS government looted the poor under the guise of the Double Bedroom Housing Scheme. He stated that for over six years, the BRS administration gave false hope to the poor, collected illegal payments from beneficiaries and failed to deliver homes. The Minister criticized that the same houses were showcased in two elections without being distributed and that the BRS tried to deceive the public once again, but voters responded decisively in the last elections. On Friday, Mr Reddy personally handed over the keys to 592 beneficiaries in the Hanamkonda Balasamudram area of Warangal district, marking housewarming ceremonies in their new double-bedroom homes. The event was held in the presence of MLAs Nayini Rajender Reddy and Nagaraju, Mayor Gundu Sudharani, and several others. The Minister remarked that it was a moment of joy to facilitate housewarming for 592 families on this auspicious Friday of the Sravana month and said that the homes were sanctioned in the names of women. He described it as a Raksha Bandhan gift for 592 sisters, delivered a day in advance. He reiterated that under the leadership of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, the State government is progressing with a focus on welfare and development. He said that the selection of beneficiaries was done with utmost transparency and beyond political affiliations. He alleged that under the previous regime, houses were granted only to ruling party workers and a few government employees, while the poor were misled and subjected to exploitation. He accused BRS leaders of displaying model houses to extract money from the poor without giving them possession. Mr. Reddy further alleged that the Kaleshwaram Project was deliberately mishandled for commissions, and termed it a betrayal of the people of Telangana. He claimed that the corruption of the previous regime directly led to the collapse of the project and that thousands of crores ended up with KCR's family. He said that BRS leaders are attacking the current government only to protect their ill-gotten wealth.

Duo arrested for duping people in govt. double bedroom housing scam

Two individuals, who posed as political insiders and issued fake housing allotment letters, conning several citizens promising allotments under the Telangana Government's Double Bedroom Housing Scheme, were arrested by the Jeedimetla police on Saturday, July 26. The accused identified as G. Sridhar and Pradeep Prasad were arrested in the Suchitra area. Police seized several items including fake allotment letters, a car, laptop, desktop computer, webcam, printer, scanner, and two mobile phones. The accused are being produced before court, and further investigation is underway. A case was booked by the Jeedimetla police on July 23 following a complaint by K. Malleshwari, who reported being defrauded by G. Sridhar. Sridhar allegedly posed as a BRS party worker and claimed close links with the Quthbullapur MLA, showing photographs of him with the political leaders. He convinced victims to pay processing and registration fees and other expenses. In collaboration with Pradeep Prasad, a Jio employee, Sridhar fabricated fake allotment letters. The forged documents were then handed over to victims as original allotments. However, no such benefits were ever delivered. The duo has been remanded to judicial custody. Earlier on July 23, the Jeedimetla police arrested Bodimi Shetty Haribabu, an assistant at the Quthbullapur MLA Camp Office for allegedly duping 84 people by promising them double-bedroom houses. The complainant had alleged that Haribabu collected ₹1 lakh from him and 83 others with an assurance of securing a government-allocated 2-BHK house, however, neither the house was allotted nor the money returned.
