Minister Ponguleti hands over 592 homes to women as Raksha Bandhan gifts

The Hindu6 days ago
Minister for Revenue and Housing Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy alleged that the BRS government looted the poor under the guise of the Double Bedroom Housing Scheme.
He stated that for over six years, the BRS administration gave false hope to the poor, collected illegal payments from beneficiaries and failed to deliver homes.
The Minister criticized that the same houses were showcased in two elections without being distributed and that the BRS tried to deceive the public once again, but voters responded decisively in the last elections.
On Friday, Mr Reddy personally handed over the keys to 592 beneficiaries in the Hanamkonda Balasamudram area of Warangal district, marking housewarming ceremonies in their new double-bedroom homes.
The event was held in the presence of MLAs Nayini Rajender Reddy and Nagaraju, Mayor Gundu Sudharani, and several others.
The Minister remarked that it was a moment of joy to facilitate housewarming for 592 families on this auspicious Friday of the Sravana month and said that the homes were sanctioned in the names of women. He described it as a Raksha Bandhan gift for 592 sisters, delivered a day in advance. He reiterated that under the leadership of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, the State government is progressing with a focus on welfare and development.
He said that the selection of beneficiaries was done with utmost transparency and beyond political affiliations. He alleged that under the previous regime, houses were granted only to ruling party workers and a few government employees, while the poor were misled and subjected to exploitation. He accused BRS leaders of displaying model houses to extract money from the poor without giving them possession.
Mr. Reddy further alleged that the Kaleshwaram Project was deliberately mishandled for commissions, and termed it a betrayal of the people of Telangana. He claimed that the corruption of the previous regime directly led to the collapse of the project and that thousands of crores ended up with KCR's family.
He said that BRS leaders are attacking the current government only to protect their ill-gotten wealth.

Ramalinga Reddy calls for Kannada Shloka training in Muzrai temples

Bengaluru: Muzrai Minister Ramalinga Reddy announced that priests in Karnataka's Muzrai temples will be instructed to learn and recite shlokas in Kannada during worship. The directive aims to promote the use of the Kannada language in religious rituals. During the Legislative Council's Question Hour, BJP member Bharathi Shetty pointed out that while Tamil Nadu temples recite shlokas in Tamil, Karnataka temples still predominantly use Sanskrit. She suggested that Karnataka temples should also introduce Kannada shloka recitation, citing the example of Hiremagalur Kannan, known for his Kannada recitations. Shetty further raised concerns about cleanliness in temples and urged for maintenance on the lines of Tirupati. Responding, Reddy said that after years of delay, certificates for Agama training are now being issued, and priests will be guided to practise Kannada shlokas. He added that from August 15, plastic will be banned in temples, alongside stricter cleanliness measures. State to act on bike taxi services as per High Court order Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy has stated that the government will comply with the High Court's order regarding the reinstatement of bike taxi services in the state. Responding to BJP MLC D.S. Arun in the Legislative Council, Reddy explained that bike taxi services, including Rapido, were halted due to rule violations by operating companies. Arun had argued that the suspension deprived many young people of employment opportunities and inconvenienced commuters, noting that there are about 8 lakh gig workers in the state. Reddy recounted that in 2018, discussions were held on the pros and cons of bike taxi services, and in 2019 a committee led by the Metro MD recommended against them. However, in 2021, battery-powered vehicles were allowed. The current suspension, he said, is due to operators flouting regulations. 'The matter is in court, and a verdict is expected in a few days. The government will act in accordance with the court's decision,' he assured.

Nationwide ‘Har Ghar Tiranga' celebrations gaining momentum, says BJP

Hyderabad: Telangana BJP state unit, in response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call, the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' program is being celebrated across India with patriotic fervor to mark the 79th Independence Day. The initiative, aimed at fostering national unity and pride, is being organized in a coordinated manner by the Government of India and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), including extensive participation in Telangana. Addressing the media on Wednesday, party state vice-president Gangidi Manohar Reddy highlighted the scale and spirit of the celebrations. He noted that for the past three days, Tiranga rallies and flag-hoisting events have been held across the country, with enthusiastic participation from school and college students, youth, and citizens. 'The Prime Minister has called upon every Indian to hoist the national flag on their homes on August 14 and 15, symbolizing unity and patriotism,' Reddy said. He emphasized that the national flag evokes emotion and solidarity among all citizens, transcending caste, religion, region, and age. Referring to recent national security developments, Reddy praised the swift response of the Indian Army in Pahalgam, where terrorists were neutralized following an attack on civilians. He said the successful completion of Operation Sindhur has further galvanized public sentiment and strengthened patriotic resolve. In Telangana, the BJP has set a target of hoisting the national flag on 40 lakh homes. Reddy urged citizens to participate actively in the campaign and join the Tiranga Rally scheduled at Necklace Road on August 14 at 10 a.m. The rally will be led by BJP Telangana State President Ramchandra Rao, Legislative Council members AVN Reddy and Malka Komuraiah, along with party leaders, activists, students, and college representatives. 'We appeal to every citizen of the twin cities to take part in the rally and celebrate the spirit of Independence Day,' he said. BJP leaders Rani Rudrama and BJYM State President Sevella Mahender were present.

Back Rahul who is fighting EC over BJP vote theft, Jagga Reddy tells people

Hyderabad: Telangana PCC working president Jagga Reddy on Wednesday appealed to people, including those in the Telugu states, to stand in support of Leader of Opposition and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who is fighting the Election Commission over the issue of BJP's vote theft. He justified his call for support Rahul's efforts, as he 'questioned negligent attitude of the Election Commission'. Addressing the media at Gandhi Bhavan, Reddy alleged that the Chief Election Commissioner 'is reading the script written by BJP and RSS. No inquiry is being done into the questions raised by Rahul Gandhi. 'The Election Commission too is nothing but an RSS script reader; the EC is following BJP's footsteps. Through RSS-affiliated organisations, bogus votes have been created. It is the responsibility of the Election Commission to say whether that is true or false. The EC, once considered secure, has strayed from the right path; it is following BJP's lead,' he said. He accused the BJP and RSS are 'playing with people's lives. They are conspiring to crush the freedom of the people of this country. BJP has returned for a third time due to bogus votes. The constitution grants every citizen independence and liberty through the right to vote. In remote villages and unseen areas, bogus votes were registered as part of an election victory plan. Power was gained through bogus votes. This is a strategic attempt by BJP. The BJP and RSS have expertise in creating bogus votes. This bogus voting process happened across the country,' he said. According to Reddy, 'Unexpectedly, after Modi became PM for the third time, many doubts arose. There is suspicion that the votes of over 40 MPs, which made Modi PM, were bogus'. He claimed that BJP is taking revenge on Rahul Gandhi's family. The BJP's conspiracy is that Ambedkar's constitution should not remain. The Prime Minister's post is nothing new for Rahul Gandhi. BJP is acting with malice towards Rahul Gandhi's family, he said. According to Reddy, 'AP politics is like brothers sitting together at a toddy shop. BJP is the toddy shop, and the brothers are Chandrababu and Jagan. Both Chandrababu and Jagan are slaves to BJP. It is unclear whether ex-CM Kiran Kumar Reddy is a BJP leader or an Election Commissioner. He took the note given by a BJP leader and read it… Kiran Kumar Reddy is just a script reader. Even though Purandeswari is NTR's daughter, she too reads the BJP script'. Jagga Reddy said: 'In our Congress, everyone has courage. Even the Komatireddy brothers are courageous people'.
